With the meeting of the two generals from the human side, Hu Ying and Lei Shen, the people under Marshal Gu Ying had finally made their first move to invade the ancient forest. Of course, the group which was sent inside the forest to scout was an information to be shared as well. The two generals shook hands in sign of alliance. Though they would normally fight for merits at this time where a big mission was given to everyone in the military, they need to work together to complete it. After all, if they fail there will only be death waiting for them.
"A pleasure working with you, General Lei Shen!"
"Same to you, General Hu Ying," said the newly arrived general as he looked at the ancient forest devoid of the almost transparent that. He was amazed that General Hu Ying had truly destroyed the barrier that was deemed unbreakable in the past.
"You are amazing, General Hu Ying. You have done what others weren’t able to do," said General Lei Shen.
Once General Hu Ying heard this praise, he actually didn’t feel happy. In reality, he just used the sword the marshal had given to him to destroy the barrier. His job was to carry the sword to the barrier and the sword would do the rest of the job. What made it worse is that they had lost the sword. He is terrified of what the marshal will do to him once he hears that his sword has gone missing.
He can barely let out a laugh before responding as he tries to change the topic.
General Hu Ying said, "I’ve just done what I am supposed to do. I have sent some scouts inside, they should return by tomorrow. Would you like to erect your camp outside the forest or inside instead?"
General Lei Shen can see that General Hu Ying had created his camp outside instead of inside. Normally, one would choose to camp inside the territory of the enemy so one can observe the moment of the other closer. General Hu Ying as if reading the mind of the one in front of him.
"Don’t think too much about the camp’s location. This is only temporarily as I will need to wait for the arrival of my other soldiers who were left behind in the military headquarters. You actually don’t need your whole troop just to destroy one’s barrier, right?" General Hu Ying said.
He was observing the other general, Lei Shen, and noticed that he had accepted his strange explanation.
"Then I will camp inside ahead of time. Let’s have a meeting when your scouts have come back," General Lei Shen said.
General Hu Ying was smiling as he agreed to the man’s words. Only after the man had gone a bit in the distance that the smile on his face had faded.
He whispered while snorting, "Still as arrogant as before. I will defeat you in this mission and destroy this forest ahead of you."

The Chief Warden had suffered a bit of injuries just to take away the black sword that destroyed the barrier around the ancient forest. Before the barrier broke apart and when there were only cracks found on its surface, these two wardens were the reason it took a while for the barrier to completely get destroyed. They had long noticed the black sword that was eerily similar to the Sovereign God of Void and Darkness’s natal weapon, Shenyuan, the God slaying sword.
The only difference this sword had from Shenyuan was that it had a strong desire to devour everything in this world which is also quite similar to the powers of their Lord Ye Xiajie. That’s why they took the risk to steal. Who would have thought that just by touching it, it would try to devour the chief warden and if not for the blessing of his master, he would most likely get devoured by this evil sword as well.
Warden Yun Ming looked worriedly at his weakened partner.
"Wuye, how are you feeling?" Warden Yun Ming asked.
The Chief Warden smiled as his partner tried to comfort him, "Don’t worry. I just ate most of my qi but thanks to that I’m asleep now. But no matter how much you look at it, this sword looks so much like Lord Shenyuan, my master’s sword."
"We shouldn’t touch it anymore. But this is a weapon that should be reported to the masters seeing how it was able to use gluttony to eat not only the energy of the barrier but also your qi. The problem is that in this realm we cannot use the teleportation device and without Zhi Yue, it’s not possible to use teleportation," Warden Yun Ming said.
The Chief Warden pulls a black scroll from his space storage. This is a scroll of void which he usually uses to send a report to his master whenever they are separated by distance. It’s a consumable item but only his master can make this kind of thing.
Lou Wuye said, "Don’t worry. I have this. We can use this to report and send the item directly to my lord."
"Scroll of Death. Aren’t those only used to write death decree for gods who break the divine laws?" Yun Ming said.
The Chief Warden nods his head, "Yes. But can also be used as a delivery tool though it is expensive to use as only my master can create them. This time moves through the void and only my master can receive it."
He started writing the report about the current events and about the sword that will be sent together with the letter. Lou Wuye didn’t dare to keep the sword longer as the moment it woke up again, the one who would suffer would be him and Yun Ming. If it was only him he would be willing to risk keeping the sword by his side. But his lover is with him, he doesn’t want to put the life of his lover in danger.
After writing the letter and the sword being absorbed within it, he activated the spell on the scroll which directly opens the void in there he threw the letter inside. Once the letter the sword had disappeared in the void, the two systems choose to rest for a moment while watching the changes in the city. They were grateful that the Marshal called Gu Ying had made his personal move yet and only sent another general to help the first group.
At night, they had also witnessed the action taken by those who lived in the ancient forest. The first thing they had done as the barrier fell was to set some traps near the wooden walls and at places that could be used as temporary places for a camp. They had also noticed the scouts that had entered the vicinity of the ancient forest. Though these humans had only entered the outer ring of the forest, this place is still the territory of the beings that live in this place.
After exploiting the darkness of the night, some groups had silently killed the scouts from the human side. They didn’t spare anyone at all. When the run had risen to the sky, General Hu Ying, General Lei Shen and the other soldiers had found the corpses of the scouts sent by General Hu Ying.
General Hu Ying was speechless. All of his soldiers were killed without even making a noise, allowing them that nothing had gone wrong all night when in reality, the other side had already made their move and assassinated all the human soldiers that trespassed their land.
"How the hell did this happen!? Not even a sound was heard last night!" General Hu Ying exclaimed in anger and disbelief.
In just one night, he had become a general without soldiers. How embarrassing, especially with one of his rivals in the military being around. While General Hu Ying was trying to find a way to resolve this embarrassment, the other General Lei Shen was investigating the cause of death of these soldiers. They collectively die through loss of blood and to avoid them from asking help the main arteries of both hands and legs were cut off which made them unable to move and was left to die slowly through the night. If they had come to find them last night, they would have survived instead.
General Lei Shen said after seeing the soldier’s way of death, "They were crippled first before cutting the throat to bleed. They’ve died slowly in pain. The enemies intentionally killed them this way so they would suffer until their last breath."
"That... Please forgive my soldiers’ incompetence. I assure you this shouldn’t happen again," said General Hu Ying.
"Incompetence?" General Lei Shen’s expression turned cold at these words.
However, he is in no position to scold General Hu Ying as these were his soldiers and not his. These soldiers until their last breath didn’t give up and left them some clues. Their blood shows some writing on the ground and their fingers point out the direction where their killer had appeared. However, their own commander didn’t even notice it.
He couldn’t help but whisper, "I wonder who is truly incompetent."
The whisper was said with an almost inaudible voice which made General Hu Ying not catch what General Lei Shen had murmured.
General Hu Ying asked, "Did you just say something?"
"I said, it’s better to cremate them and bury them under to pay respect. Allow my soldiers to do it while you and I have a meeting for strategies while we wait for your troops to arrive," said General Lei Shen.
General Hu Ying said, "Alright, let’s move on to another location for the meeting."
This man obviously didn’t care about the corpses of his soldiers. General Lei Shen was the one who made a move and asked his soldiers to give these soldiers a proper funeral.
