"It seems they’re really planning to confront us head-on. Perhaps they have no other mission but to target us," Xiao Bing said.
"That’s about right, but don’t worry about them. Let’s rest for the night and act at dawn."
"Yes!"
The two teams began preparing the necessary equipment for the operation while handling the food.
Lin Yi and Ning Che sat to the side, chatting with a map in hand.
"Now that a definite enemy has appeared, we need to decide whether to carry out the mission or deal with the enemy first."
"We can do both without delay," Lin Yi said:
"We can use the underground passage, which will take us unnoticed directly to the Tiyama River. We can’t let them delay our mission."
Ning Che thought for a moment and said: "I’ll assign a third group to stay here on watch when we leave, to safeguard the safety zone."
Lin Yi nodded; after leaving through the underground passage, someone must stay behind to clean up.
If discovered, the Central Guards Brigade would lose their advantage on the island.
"What do you plan to do with this group called White Bear?"
"Turn defense into offense; prioritize our mission. If they dare to show up, we’ll take them out immediately."
Ning Che nodded, contemplating the feasibility of the plan while also supplementing details.
After about an hour, the two finalized the mission route, then moved on to the preparation phase.
That night, after posting the night watch, the two teams gradually rested one after another.
There were twelve people at White Bear’s base, drinking and eating.
"Boss, the two teams from the Central Guards Brigade add up to thirty people, including two leaders. We only have thirteen people here, so we’re at a disadvantage in numbers if it comes to a fight."
The one referred to as "boss" sat in the middle, bald, with a slim build, silently drinking, his face ominously grim.
The person who provoked Lin Yi when they disembarked sat next to him, seemingly the second-in-command in the group.
Their names were Kong Jia and Morrison, responsible for the team’s operations.
"Our task is to deal with Lin Yi and disrupt their plans. Even if we’re outnumbered, we still have a great chance," Kong Jia said:
"Get the crossbows ready, wait for the opportunity, and catch them off guard. That will be our chance."
"Understood."

A little past three in the morning, before dawn, everyone was ready, gradually setting off under the moonlight.
It was quiet all around, and the two teams didn’t make much noise either.
It wasn’t out of fear, but to conceal their traces to the greatest extent.
This scene, however, didn’t escape everyone.
At White Bear’s base, the night watch detected the presence of the Central Guards Brigade and immediately alerted the others.
"Boss, the Central Guards Brigade has left!"
Kong Jia, who was sleeping, woke up suddenly and hurriedly said:
"Gear up and follow them."
White Bear’s people moved swiftly, quickly gearing up and immediately following.

Kong Jia observed around, also finding it odd.

"Boss, what do we do now?"
"Move deeper into the forest; I refuse to believe we can’t find them."

Under Kong Jia’s orders, White Bear’s group continued deeper into the Kandaya Forest, trying to find traces of the Central Guards Brigade but to no avail.
"Damn, I bet they anticipated we’d follow and are hiding somewhere; otherwise, we would have found them."
Kong Jia had similar suspicions. Their tracking speed was brisk, yet they hadn’t seen a single person; this situation was too unusual.
Morrison might have guessed right; they might have gone into hiding to avoid a confrontation.
"Stop advancing; expand the search area."
"Yes!"

By a little past six in the morning, after over two hours of travel, the two teams successfully emerged from the underground passage.
"Our group reported that White Bear’s crew isn’t at the station," Ning Che said.
"That means they followed us."
"Judging by their actions, their target is clear, and they seem quite eager to engage," Xiao Bing said.
"That’s normal; they must have taken a large bounty from the Kaijie Group, or they wouldn’t do this on the island," Lin Yi said:
"Never mind them now. Clean the scene, get the river-crossing gear ready, and let’s get to work."
