Chapter 3657 - 3649: Mission Accomplished
Chapter 3657: Chapter 3649: Mission Accomplished
Ning Che didn’t say anything, but she agreed with Lin Yi’s view.
These researchers were all Mammon’s people.
If they wiped all of them out, the follow‑up experiment progress would be hindered.
It also counted as getting some face back.
Just as the two of them had anticipated, four vehicles appeared soon after.
Two of them were buses.
But the people who escaped didn’t rush to leave.
Staring at the raging fire, regret showed on all their faces.
The fire was growing bigger and bigger, and the fire trucks still hadn’t arrived.
They could only watch helplessly as the stairwell was swallowed up.
"Let’s go, there’s no point staying here. Get in the cars."
Looking at the rearview mirror.
Lin Yi saw that the one speaking was a westerner.
His clothes were normal, no different from an ordinary office worker.
But at a moment like this, the fact he could stand up and take charge meant he was very likely the person in charge of the Research Institute.
His level naturally wouldn’t be low.
The experiment staff and Mammon’s people got on the cars one after another.
But a few people stayed behind; they had to keep an eye on the scene and report back to headquarters.
"Xiao Bing, keep watching the situation on site, report in immediately if anything happens."
"Got it."
After a brief reminder, Lin Yi drove off.
He quietly tailed the buses in front.
At the same time, Ning Che spoke through the comms:
"Everyone except Xiao Bing, get ready. Level 1 combat readiness."
"Yes!"
After giving the order, Ning Che studied the city map.
She directed the movements of the others.
To make sure they weren’t discovered, Lin Yi drove the car up ahead.
He used the rearview mirror to track the vehicles behind.
And he judged their upcoming route using their turn signals and lane changes.
After roughly two intersections, Mammon’s vehicles turned right.
Lin Yi didn’t keep following; Group Three took over.
Because the city wasn’t large, Mammon’s vehicles soon slowed down.
"Is there any place nearby that could be used as a hidden stronghold?" Lin Yi asked.
"We’re in the suburbs, we haven’t completely left the city yet. There’s a hotel up ahead, I’m guessing they’re heading there."
Lin Yi nodded, accepting Ning Che’s guess.
It was very likely they had sensed they were being tailed.
If they went somewhere remote, it would be easy for the other side to find an opening to make a move.
If they went downtown, there’d be too many people; once a clash broke out, the local official armed forces would also intervene, which would be bad for their operation.
A hotel on the outskirts was, for now, the best option.
"Tell the other two groups to wait for my signal and be ready to move at any time."
"Okay."
Ning Che pressed the comms button and relayed Lin Yi’s orders.
Speeding up, Lin Yi took a side road, got ahead of them, and parked by the roadside.
Ning Che glanced back.
"They’re about a hundred meters out. Now’s the best window."
Lin Yi silently drew his gun; Ning Che did the same and said in a low voice:
"Your angle’s better. I’ll take the first one, you take the second."
"Okay."
Bang!
Ning Che pulled the trigger first, hitting a tire.
The moving vehicle instantly lost balance and overturned.
Right after, Lin Yi pulled the trigger as well.
The second vehicle did the same, crashing into a utility pole by the side.
"Groups One and Two, move. Your squad leader and I will cover you."
As she spoke, the two groups were already on the move.
Group One was responsible for securing the first two vehicles up front.
The people inside were all Mammon managers.
They were significantly more dangerous.
But after the crash, they were all thrown around badly and completely disoriented.
They were covered in blood, with injuries of varying degrees.
Even if some of them were stronger than members of Group One, in this condition they had very little combat capability left.
But when they saw people approaching, they still reacted and resisted at the first possible moment.
Group One didn’t give them that chance and shot four of them dead.
They captured the remaining three alive.
On the other side.
Group Three also moved smoothly and took control of the people in the two buses.
There were also Mammon members on those two buses.
But once they got on, they were immediately shot dead.
All the experiment personnel on board were completely brought under control.
The driver’s seats were taken over by Group Three, and they drove away from the scene at once.
On the other side, the three captured Mammon members were also shoved into vehicles by Group One and taken from the scene.
"How many people in total on the buses?" Ning Che asked over comms.
"Thirty‑two in total, all under our control."
"Follow the predetermined route and wait for the embassy team to link up."
"Understood."
After ending the comm, Ning Che looked at Lin Yi.
"Let’s head over too. I’m worried they won’t be able to keep everyone in line."
Lin Yi nodded, pressed his comm, and contacted Xiao Bing.
"How are things on your side?"
"The local fire trucks are here, the fire’s under control but still burning. There probably won’t be anything left on the ground level; it all depends on what they stashed in the basement."
Xiao Bing said:
"I’m planning to call the police and drag the local authorities into this, stir this pool up a bit more."
"No problem. Just watch your own safety."
"Okay."
After reminding Xiao Bing, Lin Yi stepped harder on the gas and drove toward the outskirts.
Because the country’s territory was small, they reached the border area in around three hours.
As far as the eye could see, there were barely any signs of people.
Despite the lush green vegetation full of life, the place still felt desolate and lonely.
By the time the two of them returned, everyone had been herded into a single vehicle.
When they saw Lin Yi.
Several people’s faces showed obvious terror.
"How’s everyone feeling? Satisfied with the little welcome ceremony we put on?"
The experiment personnel didn’t know Lin Yi, but the three Mammon members recognized him at a glance.
But none of them spoke.
The man in front of them had killed even their Deacon, let alone the likes of them.
"Doesn’t matter if you don’t talk. I’m not the one you’ll be dealing with later anyway," Lin Yi said.
"You all know what kind of place the Central Guards Brigade is. Think it through. Say everything you can say, you might suffer a bit less."
With that, Lin Yi stopped paying attention to them.
Just then, his comms chimed.
"Lin Bro, I’ve spotted Hops. I’m guessing he’ll launch a pursuit soon. Where you are might not be safe; you need to move to somewhere even more hidden."
"I already figured as much. The fire’s out now, right? How’s the Research Institute looking?"
"The local police came, but it looks like some higher‑level force has stepped in. They didn’t investigate deeply, just asked a few questions and left, and they’re not allowing anyone near the place."
After a brief pause, Xiao Bing went on:
"Mammon’s people have entered the burned‑out site. I’m guessing they’re trying to salvage critical data."
"Since Hops is there, head back. You’ve done enough. Stay safe."
"Got it."
