Chapter 3087 - 3089: Don’t Tell Your Dad
Chapter 3087: Chapter 3089: Don’t Tell Your Dad
Xu Wen couldn’t quite believe it.
In her mind, someone who looks like Lin Yi should be able to get a decent salary, no matter what he does.
He could even become an internet celebrity model with ease; there’s no reason for him to endure this kind of hardship.
"Can’t I apply for the job?" Lin Yi said, half amused, half exasperated.
"You can, but looking like you do and becoming a courier seems a bit of a waste of talent," Xu Wen said.
"You’re not just here to have a laugh, are you?"
"How could that be? I really want to apply. I’ve even prepared a tricycle."
All three of them, Xu Wen included, curiously looked outside and indeed saw there was a tricycle.
"For working here, you don’t need to bring your own vehicle. We provide them."
Xu Wen laughed, finding the handsome guy in front of her quite interesting, saying:
"But since you’ve brought it, you might as well use your own."
"No problem," Lin Yi said:
"Are there any specific requirements for working here?"
"No strict requirements, and the job doesn’t require any technical skills, just the ability to endure hardship—and a bit of attention to detail."
"No problem. I can’t guarantee everything else, but I’m pretty confident about being able to endure hardship."
"If you think that’s fine, you’re welcome to start working here. There’s a three-day probation period, then you can become a permanent employee."
"Boss lady, why is my probation period half a month, while his is only three days?" Sun Qiang said.
"If you looked like him, I’d give you a three-day probation period too."
"The thing is, if I looked like him, I wouldn’t be delivering packages. The girls would all flock to me," Sun Qiang said with a grin.
"Alright, get to work, don’t delay the deliveries."
After saying this, Xu Wen looked at Lin Yi, "When can you start working?"
"I can start today."
"Okay, I’ll get you some clothes, and then you can start working."
"Alright."
Xu Wen found a clean set of work clothes in the cabinet and briefly explained the workflow to Lin Yi.
The overall work content was simple, divided into two parts.
Deliveries and pickups.
However, to say there’s no technical content in this job isn’t entirely accurate.
Because it also involves business negotiations, requiring talks with companies that need courier services to increase income.
But for Lin Yi, this wasn’t a problem.
Since it was already afternoon, the delivery truck had already delivered all the afternoon’s packages to the courier station.
The next task was to scan these packages and sort them into two areas, then deliver them accordingly.
This was the main task for a courier.
About half an hour later, the sorting work was done, and Lin Yi was responsible for Phase 2 of Xinsheng Garden, with all 15 buildings there.
"The number of parcels for Phase 2 isn’t as many as Phase 1, mainly because it’s not fully developed," Xu Wen said:
"When you’re delivering, chat more with the residents and try to get more deliveries."
"No problem."
While chatting, Xu Wen observed Lin Yi’s demeanor.
Though he’s very handsome, he seemed quite steady and not at all restless.
The most interesting part was that he even prepared his own vehicle, which was amusing to think about.
He should be able to handle the job.
Moreover, with his looks, taking him along on business meetings might cause the female bosses to show some favor.
"Lin Yi, you handle these packages first; when I’m done, I’ll come to help you," Sun Qiang said:
"Take your time, but don’t deliver to the wrong address, otherwise, you’ll have to go back and find it, which wastes more time and might lead to complaints."
"Got it, thanks, Brother Qiang."
"No need to be so formal, it’s no big deal," Sun Qiang said cheerfully.
"And when you’re delivering packages, just put them in the elevator and block the door; that way you won’t have to run back and forth."
"But wouldn’t that hinder other people from using the elevator?"
"But it saves time, and the residents understand; I’ve been delivering this way for years, and no one has said much," Sun Qiang said:
"And every building has two elevators; if one’s occupied, they can use the other."
"Understood."
After explaining some key points, Lin Yi rode his little tricycle towards Xinsheng Garden Phase 2.
Watching Lin Yi pedal off to make deliveries, Xu Wen stared for quite a while and muttered to herself:
"Looking like that, I wonder if he’s married. It’s quite tempting."
"Boss lady."
As Xu Wen was musing, Li Xin spoke up next to her.
"What’s up?"
"I have a feeling there’s something off about this guy."
"Something off?"
Xu Wen sized up Li Xin, "You mean Lin Yi?"
"Yeah, him; he doesn’t look like a good guy."
"He just started working here, why accuse him of being off?" Xu Wen admonished:
"It’s actually you who’s bad-mouthing someone he just met. What’s on your mind?"
"I’m not bad-mouthing him; it’s just that he might really be problematic, and you should be careful."
Li Xin spoke seriously, as if Lin Yi had indeed done something shady.
"What should I be careful about?" Xu Wen asked, puzzled.
"Look at his appearance; if he took another job, he’d earn more than being a courier. He might be here for you."
"Here for me?"
"Yeah. He might be interested in you and applied here on purpose to get close to you," Li Xin said:
"Perhaps when no one’s around, he’d try something untoward, so be careful."
Xu Wen was speechless.
If he really thought that way, it would seem like she’s getting the better deal, and she’d even be delighted about it.
"Alright, stop gossiping behind people’s backs and get to work."
"Got it, but you really should be cautious and not give him any chance," Li Xin said seriously:
"It’d be best to find a reason to fire him after three days."
Xu Wen gave Li Xin a sharp look, "Why so much nonsense, cut it out with the useless talk."
"Got it."
After shooing Li Xin away, Xu Wen continued organizing the store’s parcels.
But her thoughts kept drifting back to Lin Yi.
He’s better looking than a celebrity; how could he possibly have any ulterior motives toward me?
"Hmm?"
Xu Wen muttered under her breath and took another look at herself.
Not bad; couldn’t even see her toes with her curves.
And she knew more than those younger girls, so perhaps there was some reason someone might have a hidden agenda.
If he really did harbor some intentions, it might not be so bad, but should she pretend to resist a bit?
"What am I thinking!"
Xu Wen said to herself, embarrassed, shaking her head to shake off those dirty thoughts, and continued with her tasks.
But a small spark of restlessness had already ignited inside her.
Perhaps she’d wear heels to work tomorrow, or maybe even some stockings.
