Chapter 241 - 241 The Truth About The Suicide
241 The Truth About The Suicide
“It’s about your daughter, Zhao Wan.” After saying this, Shen Yin stared at the two of them for a moment.
Zhao Wan’s father instantly began to cry. The man was in his forties and he suddenly appeared uneasy.
He stubbornly wiped his tears with his sleeve, then glared at Shen Yin with an unfriendly expression. “It’s been so many years, why are you still asking about this? Where were the police officers back then? Where were you when my daughter was violated!”
“What did you say?” Zou Sheng frowned in shock. He noted down this shocking news in his notebook in disbelief.
However, Shen Yin seemed to have expected this. She silently took out a packet of tissue from her pocket and stuffed it into Father and Mother Zhao’s hands. After they calmed down a little, she deliberated again and said, “I know that bringing up this matter will definitely reopen old wounds, but even if it happened many years ago, the truth will always be revealed. We need to give Zhao Wan justice and reveal the truth, even though it is many years too late. Are you willing to tell us everything you know?”
Mother Zhao and Father Zhao looked at each other, silently seeking each other’s opinion. The moment they finally made up their minds, Mother Zhao could not help but sob. Then, she slowly nodded and said, “We will tell you. Please help us find that scumbag!”
“Alright, we’ll definitely help you. That’s our duty.” Shen Yin made a solemn promise to them. Only then was Mother Zhao willing to tell them about the painful past.
In the interrogation room, Dong Chang sat in his seat in a daze. The icy cold handcuffs were still around his wrist and he had lost his earlier calm.
Wu Zheng placed the test report of the milk candy in front of him and said coldly, “This is the reason why Shen Luo suddenly had a stomachache on the day of the crime, right?”
Dong Chang lowered his head and blinked hard a few times to hold back the tears that were about to fall. His eyes were red as he lowered his head to look at the report and smiled brightly. “I have constipation. I made this for myself. It can relieve my symptoms and is not too bitter. Officers, do you want to try it?”
“Dong Chang!” Wu Zheng slammed the table angrily. Then, he took a deep breath to calm himself down and showed him the video that the SWAT team leader had taken in the bungalow area.
On the screen, a man in his forties was doing the same thing to the unresponsive woman underneath him. However, there was no pleasure or desire on his face. His movements were mechanical and automated, as if he was just a tool.
Dong Chang sneered. His gentle eyes suddenly became fierce. “It’s that beast. Didn’t you find evidence of his crime? Hurry up and arrest him, then shoot him!”
“Mr. Dong, I think I might need to remind you.” Wu Zheng knocked on the table to rouse him from his haze of hatred. “This video was found in a bungalow in your name.”
“You’re talking about the house at No. 49 in the bungalow district in Chengxi, right?” Dong Chang leaned back in his chair weakly, his eyes filled with deep resentment. “I planned to sell that house, but my mother said that the bungalow district might be demolished in the future. She asked me to keep it and rent it out so that I could collect rent. I thought that it made sense, so I handed the house to an agent. They are fully responsibile for it.”
Wu Zheng sneered and raised his eyebrows. “You mean that your father, Dong Heng, coincidentally rented your house through an agent and recorded the crime when he committed it? Then, he deliberately placed the recording in the middle of the room and waited for the police to watch it?”
“I’m not sure about that. How would I know what that pervert is thinking?” Dong Chang was still calmly dealing with the police. He was so calm that it was as if everyone’s suspicions about him were a ridiculous illusion.
Now, all the evidence pointed to Dong Heng and none of it pointed to Dong Chang. Moreover, judging by Dong Chang’s calm and composed expression, he probably would not confess unless they caught Dong Heng.
In the interrogation room, both parties were at a deadlock. Zou Sheng pushed the door open with a dark expression. It was rare for him to have such a serious expression. Wu Zheng looked at him suspiciously and asked, “How’s the investigation going?”
Zou Sheng looked at Dong Chang and deliberately said in front of him, “Sister Shen and I have already called Zhao Wan’s parents to take their statements. We already know what happened to Zhao Wan back then.”
Dong Chang’s entire body stiffened the moment he mentioned Zhao Wan’s name. He tilted his head mechanically and stared at him with an strange expression. “I want to see them. Can I?”
Wu Zheng still did not know all the details pf this story. He looked up and asked Zou Sheng for his opinion.
Shen Yin walked into the interrogation room at that moment. She looked at Wu Zheng and pleaded, “Captain Wu, you should allow him to see them. Perhaps it will change his mind.”
