Chapter 177 - 177 New Student
177 New Student
Shen Yin looked at him in disbelief. “I don’t cook well…”
Otherwise, Shen Nian would not have learned how to cook at such a young age.
“It’s okay.” Lian Jing picked her up in anticipation. “I’ll go with you.”
Shen Yin let Lian Jing dress her like a porcelain doll, and bring her to the kitchen.
It was already late at night, and Shen Yin actually felt a little guilty although she could not explain why.
She turned around and looked at Lian Jing, who was leaning against the kitchen door with a smile. Her head throbbed as she asked, “What do you want to eat?”
Lian Jing casually opened the fridge door and took out some tomatoes and eggs. He started washing them. “Tomato and eggs. It’s very simple, right?”
The butler heard someone talking in the kitchen and rushed over. To his shock, he saw his President standing in front of the sink, concentrating on washing the tomatoes. He was horrified. “President Lian, Miss Shen, if you’re hungry, I’ll get the servants to get up immediately and cook.”
“No need.” Lian Jing frowned. He was very displeased that the butler had disturbed them.
Seeing his cold expression, the butler retreated in embarrassment and went back to sleep.
Shen Yin stood in front of the induction stove in distress, wondering what seasonings she should add. Even after Lian Jing anded her the sliced tomatoes and beaten eggs, she still could not think of a way to make a tasty dish.
She looked at Lian Jing’s smiling eyes and steeled herself. After adding the oil, she poured all the ingredients into the pot. Her expression was so serious that she looked more like she was dissecting a corpse than cooking. Her movements as she stir-fried the ingredients were stiff.
Lian Jing leaned against the refrigerator door and calmly looked at her doing it wrongly. However, he did not correct her.
After a while, the food was done. Shen Yin scooped out the scrambled eggs with tomatoes, that were a little too dark because she had added too much seasoning. She stuffed it into Lian Jing’s hand unhappily. “You have to finish it.”
Lian Jing lowered his eyes and smiled. With one hand holding the dish and the other holding Shen Yin’s hand, he walked into the dining room.
Seeing Lian Jing pick up his chopsticks, Shen Yin suddenly grew nervous. She had not felt this nervous for a long time. It was almost comparable to the first time she dissected a corpse by herself. Then, she had been afraid that she might miss a detail and the police to be unable to solve the case as a result.
Lian Jing took a bite of the egg, then narrowed his eyes and stuffed a mouthful into her mouth with a smile.
The saltiness immediately made Shen Yin choke. She hurriedly drank a glass of water and glared at Lian Jing, who was looking at her schemingly. “I already said that I’m not good at cooking!”
Lian Jing lowered his eyes and took a sip of her water. Then, he ate the food and drank the water at the same time. He obediently ate the entire plate of food that she had painstakingly made.
The saltiness had rendered Lian Jing speechless. He silently thought that he had to improve Shen Yin’s culinary skills in the future.
His wife’s cooking was so salty. He and his son would die of it.
After dinner, Lian Jing happily hugged Shen Yin to sleep. The next morning, he got up early and went to the airport.
Shen Yin heard the noise in a haze of sleep, but could not be bothered to open her eyes. It was not until the alarm clock rang that she suddenly opened her eyes. When she saw that his place was already cold, she suddenly missed him.
She pushed away her thoughts and had breakfast with Shen Nian before sending him to school in the car that the butler had prepared for them.
At the school gate, the children who seemed to be around Shen Nian’s age were all struggling and refusing to go to school. Only Shen Nian got out of the car calmly and waved at her before walking into the school.
Shen Yin got out of the car and watched her son’s vanishing figure. She suddenly felt that her son had already grown up.
She wanted nothing else than to watch Shen Nian grow up safely.
“Eh? Brother! That’s the little boy I told you about last night. He suddenly transferred from the first grade to our class!”
The clear voice of a little girl rang out close to Shen Yin. She subconsciously turned around and saw that the little girl was looking at her with her big, bright, fearless eyes. She smiled sweetly and said, “Auntie, did Mu Mu scare you?”
“You can’t frighten her. She’s very bold.” Cheng Huo held the little girl’s hand and looked at Shen Yin calmly.
They had not contacted each other since the last time they said goodbye. He had not expected to meet her at the school gate.
Cheng Huo raised his eyebrows in understanding. It seemed that she was here to send her son to school.
Cheng Mu tugged at her brother’s hand and asked curiously, “Brother, you and this auntie… You know this Sister?”
Cheng Mu stuck out her tongue mischievously and cleverly changed the way she addressed her.
Shen Yin liked Cheng Mu’s mischievous look very much. She smiled and replied, “We met by chance. So you’re in the same class as Nian Nian. In the future, you can come to my house and play with Nian Nian.”
She was worried that her son was unwilling to make friends with his peers. Children should be more playful. Her son needed a cute and smart playmate like Cheng Mu.
Cheng Mu seemed to discern Shen Yin’s intentions. She smiled and nodded. “Okay, Shen Nian is very smart. I want to make friends with him.”
