Chapter 1948: He Wouldn’t Feel Safe at Home
“Then I’ll rather if it’s Xiao Si.” Xu Baohan’s expression was cold as he struggled to make a decision.
“Don’t let your imagination run wild.” An Lan ruffled his hair. “If I wanted to have anything with Mr. Xiao, I wouldn’t wait till today. He’s not my type.”
“Then what’s your type?” Xu Baohan raised an eyebrow as he looked at her, his crimson lips curling up slightly.
An Lan was secretly amused by his “naivety”. He clearly knew her type, yet he still insisted on asking. “I like men like you.”
“Good.” Xu Baohan’s pupils contracted slightly as he pulled her to sit on his lap. “I’m not used to you being away for so long.”
“You have to get used to it. I used to travel a lot for work, but now I rarely do it.” An Lan smiled as she found a comfortable spot on his chest. “As for you, I’ll be away for five days. Don’t go around looking for other women.”
“Where am I supposed to do that?” Xu Baohan sighed. “There are a lot of things to do in the court.”
“That’s good, you better be busy.”
An Lan was very satisfied.
Xu Baohan pinched her nose and lowered his head to kiss her.
It was An Lan’s first time going on a business trip since they got together. The two of them will not see each other for a long time. Tonight, they were very cooperative and moved by each other, but Xu Baohan still did not to break through to the final step. An Lan felt a little strange. When he was injured, he had been complaining about wanting it every day, but now he had almost recover, but he did not take any action.
“An Lan, I don’t think you are mentally prepared,” Xu Baohan said softly as he brushed his forehead before falling asleep.
An Lan was stunned. Her sleepiness disappeared just like that. Was she mentally prepared? She was indeed not prepared. Deep down, she was actually a conservative person.
“For now, you don’t have the thought of staying with me for the rest of your life,” Xu Baohan said with a soft sigh.
An Lan was speechless. After a long while, she finally spoke, “Baohan, perhaps we haven’t known each other for long enough, and I’ve been used to being alone all this while. Now that I suddenly realized that I’ve met the right person, I couldn’t believe it. Happiness came too suddenly.”
That was why she felt uneasy.
“It’s alright, you’ll know that our happiness isn’t sudden at all, it’s just fate.” Xu Baohan kissed her forehead, his fingers gently caressing her shoulder. “Go to sleep.”
…
The next day, when An Lan woke up, the other side of the bed was already empty.
A soft sound came from the closet. She walked over and leaned against the door frame, watching Xu Baohan help her pack her luggage. Every piece of clothing was folded neatly, her toothbrush, toothpaste, and towel were placed at the side.
It had been a long time since someone had helped her pack her things when she was going on a long trip. The last time was when she was going to study abroad, her mother helped her pack, but that was the last time.
An Lan suddenly realized that deep down, she really wanted a family.
“You forgot that women’s cosmetics and skincare products are essential,” An Lan reminded him as she walked towards the suitcase.
“Yes, I feel like something is missing.” Xu Baohan seemed to have woken up from a dream. He looked up and saw her standing in front of him in her nightdress. She wasn’t wearing any shoes and her nails were painted with dark pink nail polish. She exuded an alluring allure early in the morning.
“Also, why are the clothes you pack all so dark?” An Lan knocked on her luggage with a smile. “I don’t usually like to wear them.”
“Lawyer An, I was caring for you. Xiao Si is newly married and if you’re dressed too beautifully on a business trip with him, what will his wife think?” Xu Baohan said in a considerate tone.
“Are you sure it’s because of his wife?” An Lan nodded and asked.
Xu Baohan coughed lightly. “You should also think of your boyfriend. He won’t feel safe at home.”
