Chapter 1510: I’m About to Get Married, Why Should I Break Up?
Whilst changing Little Apple’s diaper, Luosang was distracted as she thought about Nian Xi and worried about her safety. Little Apple finally started protesting when she put on his diaper a little too tightly.
“It’s so scary when criminals use high-tech gadgets to carry out their crimes,” Luosang remarked.
“Yeah, I’m sure that Nian Xi was injured because a criminal organization has been watching Jiang Yuning. I’ll talk to the Secretary-General about this. This is not a small case!” Nian Junting looked extremely worried.
Luosang watched him for a while before letting go of Little Apple. She walked over to him and wrapped her arms around his waist, whispering, “I finally understand why you don’t approve of Nian Xi and Jiang Yuning’s relationship…”
“You finally understand? You’ve always thought that I was just afraid of losing my sister. Am I such a selfish person?” Nian Junting grunted softly.
Luosang giggled and decided to let him have the final word that night. He was still worried about Nian Xi, after all.
…
It was seven in the morning, and Jiang Yuning emerged from his lab with bloodshot eyes. His dark pupils looked like they were unable to focus properly. Uncle Han and Xu Gang immediately shuffled toward him with troubled expressions.
“Mister, you spent the entire night in your laboratory! You must be exhausted. Do you want some breakfast?” Uncle Han asked.
Jiang Yuning shook his head with a dazed look. After a while, he finally focused his gaze on Uncle Han. “Uncle Han, I made a breakthrough last night in my lab. They could have interfered with the converter frequency from that distance. The perpetrator could have done it from that rooftop, and they were sending me a warning.”
Xu Gang’s expression darkened. “Mr. Jiang, don’t worry. Interpol has already commenced its operations. According to our intel, they’re still unclear about the number of TOX organization members in the country. The homeland security departments of several countries also wish to work with us to bring this organization to justice.”
Jiang Yuning was shocked. “What exactly do you mean by that?”
Xu Gang frowned. “We must not alarm our enemies at this moment. If we act now, we will only be catching those criminals around you. They will still likely send another group to target you. You hold vital information, and it will be dire if the information ends up in their hands.”
Jiang Yuning clutched his head in frustration. In the past, this wouldn’t have bothered him. However, he had Nian Xi now; someone he treasured, someone he did not wish to lose.
“Nothing can happen to me, and nothing must happen to Nian Xi either,” he muttered under his breath as he clutched Xu Gang’s hands.
Uncle Han said angrily, “I want to know how news of your work has spread outside! Only the most trusted personnel are kept in the loop about this project. We all understood the gravity of the situation and the sensitive nature of his work. We stopped all of our work and relocated to Xia City for that reason as well.”
“It’s Zhang Nan, the laboratory worker who stole your nanotechnology theory the last time we went to France! He escaped overseas, but we’ve been trying to track him down. We recently received news that he joined the TOX organization and underwent plastic surgery to change his appearance, even his thumbprint,” Xu Gang said casually. “He was a close aide back then, so he must know something about your work.”
“B*stard!” Uncle Han angrily punched the wall with his fist.
Xu Gang sighed. “Mr. Jiang, I suggest that you leave Xia City as soon as possible.”
“You want me to leave?” Jiang Yuning asked in disbelief, his mouth agape. “How can I leave? My girlfriend is still here…”
Xu Gang said, “Or break up with Miss Nian immediately.”
