Chapter 1506: Untitled
Everyone was intrigued by the chief steward’s words.
They had married the wrong women?
So, was it Mrs Dugu and Mrs Zuo’s fault?
While the men were being flogged, Feng Wu was still roasting fish.
She listened to what was going on as she unhurriedly roasted the fish, as if it was nothing out of the ordinary.
Feng Xun said, “Hey, little Feng Wu, Master Zuo and Master Dugu are getting flogged. Aren’t you a little bit curious?”
Feng Wu asked, “About what?”
Feng Xun said, “Don’t you want to know why they’re being punished?”
Feng Wu nodded.
Feng Xun grinned, flashing his perfectly white teeth. “Little Feng Wu, you do want to know, don’t you?”
Feng Wu didn’t say a word.
Crossing his hands behind his back and raising his chin, Feng Xun gloated. “Beg me now, and I’ll go ask around for you. I’m very good at gathering information, and I can always get the information I want.”
Feng Wu said, “I know.”
Feng Xun stared at her. “What do you know?”
Feng Wu gave him a “you idiot” look. “I know why Master Zuo and Master Dugu are being punished.”
“You know? How? What do you know?” Feng Xun asked.
Feng Wu said in resignation, “How can I not know? Didn’t the chief steward tell us already? He said that they were suffering because of their wives.”
Feng Xun said, “Yes, the chief steward did say that, but that was all. He didn’t say anything else.”
Feng Wu said, “Are you an idiot? The chief steward might have only said that, but the meaning behind it is very obvious. All you need is some simple deduction.”
Feng Xun asked, “What do you think, then?”
Feng Wu said, “It’s simple. Mrs Dugu and Mrs Zuo upset Her Majesty to the point that she passed out from her rage. His Majesty was so furious that he wanted to flog Mrs Zuo and Mrs Dugu, but Empress Dugu begged for His Majesty’s forgiveness, so the husbands got flogged instead.”
Feng Wu’s reasoning was well-rounded and clear, which dumbfounded Feng Xun.
“You — you got all that from the chief steward’s one sentence?” If that was true, Feng Wu had to be clairvoyant.
Feng Wu chuckled. “You believe that?”
Feng Xun said, “Huh?”
Feng Wu said, “Master Chu was worried that he would do something wrong and aggravate Her Majesty’s condition when she fell ill, so he came to ask for my advice. Before he could do that, he had to tell me everything.”
She gave Feng Xun a gloating smile after she said that.
Feng Xun was rendered speechless.
He couldn’t help but flick Feng Wu’s forehead with a finger. “You naughty girl! You almost got me!”
Feng Wu laughed.
“Poor Master Zuo and Master Dugu. If they find out what happened, they’ll hate their wives.”
Feng Xun said, “That’s for sure. His Majesty was so ruthless.”
“If I were His Majesty —” Feng Wu smiled a little. “I would never let those two ladies go unpunished. They haven’t paid the price yet.”
“Do you have a plan?” Feng Xun was very interested in punishing the two mean ladies.
“If it were up to me, I would send the two men some beautiful women — gentle, talented young women, to be precise. The younger and prettier they are, the more damage they’ll do.”
