Chapter 3314: Weak

Chapter 3314: Weak

Adam was startled by the shout and suddenly snapped back to his senses. When he looked up, the spirit was already lunging straight at him.

Whoosh!

Adam used a fighting style that exchanged injury for injury, slashing forward with his sword.

Huh?

The spirit suddenly froze midair, gray binding chains faintly appearing on its body, completely immobilizing it!

Adam’s sword struck first and sliced through the spirit’s form.

"Boom!!!"

That strike caused terrifying damage, almost shattering the spirit entirely!

Adam’s heart skipped a beat. The spiritual long sword in his hand dispersed, and he quickly pressed his palms together.

"Whoosh!"

A round orb emitting a faint dark-golden glow appeared before Adam.

The Heroic Spirit Orb bloomed with dark-golden light. The heavily injured spirit was slowly pulled into the orb and vanished completely.

It was done!

At the same time, Adam sensed that he had formed a spiritual link with the spirit within his sea of consciousness.

Recalling the terrifying surge of power that had flared from the spiritual longsword earlier, he instinctively raised his hands and looked at them.

The Shadow God?

For a moment, Adam’s mind was in turmoil.

What kind of god was that?

Since childhood, he had only known of the God Clan. All the Temples of Faith were built for the God Clan, and everyone was born as their believer.

It was obvious that the Shadow God did not belong to the God Clan.

Forget it!

He already had the soul construct in hand; time to go back!

Just as Adam was preparing to return, another voice, slightly different from the Shadow God’s, suddenly echoed in his mind.

"Hold on."

Adam’s heart jumped, and he immediately stopped moving.

"You’re allowed to stay here for three hours. What’s the rush?"

Adam froze in place. Not leave?

Then what was he supposed to do here?

"Hmph. What’s that thing in your hand? It can absorb spirits, right? Since it can absorb them, why not take a few more while you’re at it?"

Adam was stunned.

Huh? Take more?

Zane looked at his believer’s dazed expression with impatience, "I’m the Shadow God, not a worm in your gut. How would I know what you’re thinking? Speak up! I can hear you!"

Adam opened his mouth and glanced around. Seeing that everyone else was still fighting their own spirits and hadn’t noticed him, he lowered his voice and replied softly, "The Heroic Spirit Orb in my hand is of low grade. Theoretically, it can collect up to five spirits at once, but with my current ability, I can only control two Tier 2 souls at most. Catching more isn’t necessary."

Zane and Fang Heng exchanged a look.

So that thing was called a Heroic Spirit Orb.

Fang Heng gave Zane a small nod.

Zane understood and let out a cold hum, "Hmph, foolish mortal. What do you know? From now on, just follow my rules. Didn’t you say your Heroic Spirit Orb’s limit is four spirits? Then just go and fill it up with four souls."

Adam hesitated for a moment, then clenched his teeth.

Do it!

The Shadow God was his last hope now.

Even though that last battle had drained him severely — his strength was less than a third of his peak — Adam moved toward another blue spirit nearby.

Whoosh!

A longsword appeared in his palm once again, instantly covered by a terrifying layer of ghostly blue soul flame.

Huh?

Adam’s eyelids twitched. Before he could even strike, dark shadow chains appeared all over the spirit he had targeted.

The spirit was bound tightly, unable to move or attack, and was even being dragged slowly toward him.

"This..."

Adam swallowed hard, almost in disbelief, and slashed forward with the blazing soul-flame sword.

"Boom!!!"

The spirit was sent flying by the blow.

What the—!?

That was way too easy!

Adam had never experienced such power before.

A Tier 2 spirit had become nothing more than a moving target!

He quickly began the spiritual linking process.

Adam pressed his hands together, forming a seal, and summoned the spirit orb to float before him.

Huh!?

Just as he was about to pull the heavily injured spirit into the orb, he sensed something strange.

The spirit’s body suddenly flashed with a faint light, and the spiritual construct he was forming with it abruptly collapsed.

What was going on?

"Don’t just stand there. Your mental strength isn’t enough to complete the construct. I’ve already built it for you. What are you waiting for? Put it into your orb."

Huh?

Adam didn’t understand what the Shadow God meant by "building it for him," but instinctively followed the voice’s command and opened the spirit orb.

"Whoosh!"

The spirit was effortlessly drawn into the Heroic Spirit Orb.

Everything went far too smoothly.

Was it really done?

Adam stood there in a daze.

Zane glanced at Fang Heng, a bit puzzled, "Done?"

"Yeah," Fang Heng nodded lightly.

It was actually quite simple.

Just by watching Adam’s process once, he had basically figured it out.

In principle, it was similar to Bone Control Techniques and the summoning discipline — both involved forming mental constructs and establishing spiritual links.

The only difference was that Adam’s mental strength was too weak, so he had to rely on the Heroic Spirit Orb’s power.

Given Fang Heng’s immense spiritual foundation, linking with a spirit of this level was practically effortless.

Zane licked his lips and looked at the dazed Adam, "Hey, believer, you sure like spacing out, don’t you?"

"Huh?"

Adam was completely confused now.

In theory, a Heroic Spirit Orb could only store spirits bound to oneself. But why could he store this spirit even though the link wasn’t his?

That went completely against everything he’d learned!

"I told you to fill the orb with spirits before returning. What are you dawdling for?"

Zane was growing impatient, his tone more irritable than before, "And can’t you find something stronger? What’s the point of these weaklings? They’re embarrassing me."

Adam’s head buzzed as he heard Zane’s voice in his mind.

Weak?

A Tier 2 spirit was already very powerful!

And how was he supposed to know the Shadow God was this strong?

If he had known earlier, he’d have gone to the higher-tier area!

Adam gradually realized that the Shadow God seemed unfamiliar with their world, so he tried to explain.

"Respected Shadow God, the teleportation array we entered is for Tier 2, so only Tier 2 spirits appear within this area. To encounter higher-tier spirits, we’d need to spend more coins to buy higher-level teleportation runes and enter stronger zones, or..."

Fang Heng thought for a moment, looked toward the area beyond the massive magic array, and projected his voice directly into Adam’s mind.

"Or take the risk of leaving the magic array’s domain, right?"
