Lower level.
Fang Heng remained in his soul body form, his heart pounding wildly.
He had almost been discovered.
It had been a long time since he had felt such a thrill.
The defenses inside the spawns’ research institute were extremely strict, and the high-tier martial artist guards were just as strong as those he had encountered from the Blue Lizard Clan.
Strangely, however, the pathway on this lower level had no guards at all.
Fang Heng had been prepared for combat, but relaxed when he saw no one.
Yet the coercion effect grew even stronger.
His perception of the coercion source became increasingly clear.
It was just below.
Fang Heng looked down at his feet.
What was that?
He had come this far; he needed to continue.
In soul body form, Fang Heng tried once more to penetrate downward.
He descended three more floors consecutively.
Huh?
Leaping down again, Fang Heng suddenly found himself in a dim cavern.
As he crossed the floors with his soul, he felt dozens of gazes immediately converge on him.
Not good!
Locked by multiple spirits, Fang Heng instinctively concealed his aura and stood still, looking toward the distance.
What was that?
Deep in the cavern lay a bronze-like stone platform, a sacrificial altar. Something rested atop it, covered by a dark red brocade.
The terrifying coercion, which made him shiver even in soul body form, radiated from beneath the cloth.
He could not see exactly what it was, only that it was an irregular object of moderate size.
Fang Heng’s mind tensed.
"Intruder!"
Almost instantly, the high-tier martial artists surrounding the bronze platform locked onto him and simultaneously launched an attack.
He had been discovered!
Fang Heng’s heart leaped as he immediately used his soul body form to ascend through the ceiling.
Whoosh!!
The martial artist who struck first had swung at empty air, frowning, then looked up toward the ceiling.
"Perception lost. He got away."
The other martial artists quickly gathered, watching the surroundings cautiously.
"Is this spatial science?"
"Doesn’t seem like it. High-tier spatial restrictions are set here; anything below god-level cannot function," the lead martial artist said, glancing at the object on the bronze sacrificial platform. "Besides, there’s his coercion."
"Should we pursue him?"
"No," another martial artist raised a hand to stop them. "The intruder’s methods are strange, and he is not weak. Our mission is to guard the sacrificial platform. Be careful not to fall into a trap."
Everyone nodded in agreement.
"Indeed, with the intruder’s abilities, escaping amidst the chaos would be easy. Moreover, we’ve never seen his face. Catching him now would be extremely difficult."
"Mm. First, report to the spawns."
The high-tier martial artists agreed, sending one person to contact the spawns’ leader while the rest continued to sit around the bronze platform, meditating.
Meanwhile, Fang Heng had already returned to the upper floor, forced to revert from soul body form to human form, sweat covering his forehead.
That was close.
He had been locked onto by more than twenty spirits, far stronger than the Blue Lizard Clan elders, combined with mental shocks. He had nearly been expelled from his soul body form.
If he had been surrounded then, escaping unscathed would have been impossible.
Yet what truly made Fang Heng wary was the object hidden beneath the brocade.
The coercion it emanated was terrifyingly strong.
What exactly was it?
It seemed today’s reconnaissance would have to end here.
No real progress had been made.
Interestingly, after reverting from soul body form, the coercion effect on him immediately dropped to less than one ten-thousandth of its original strength.
It seemed this coercion had an additional effect specifically on soul bodies.
He decided to return; perhaps the Evil Clan members would have clues to understand what the object in the subterranean cavern was.
Fang Heng took a deep breath and rested for two minutes. Once slightly recovered, he re-entered soul body form and flew to the upper floor.
He quickly ascended one more level, coincidentally spotting the researcher he had previously encountered walking along the passage toward him.
The researcher could not see Fang Heng and passed by him again. His body felt an icy chill, causing him to shiver uncontrollably and mutter under his breath.
"D*mn, what’s going on today? Did I touch something dirty?"
He muttered to himself, reaching a large alloy metal door. Entering the password, he used biological fluctuation detection to open it.
It was the potion warehouse.
The researcher entered, cross-referenced his checklist, and began taking the potions from the shelves onto a tray.
After finishing, he closed the door and left safely.
Fang Heng reverted from soul body form once more, greed immediately flashing in his eyes.
The potion warehouse!
What a coincidence.
He found it strange, though. He should have been discovered just now—why had the research institute not triggered any alarm?
No matter.
Since he was in the warehouse, he might as well take something.
Fang Heng began rummaging through the laboratory warehouse.
The shelves were filled with bottles and jars, each labeled with numbers and test information.
Unfortunately, he could not find anything related to research data or any potion connected to God’s Blood.
Oh well, since he was here, he might as well take everything.
Unable to read the labels, Fang Heng packed all the items from the laboratory warehouse into his game backpack until it was full, finally leaving the warehouse satisfied.
...
On the Starport ship.
Wu Yi felt nervous.
She thought Fang Heng was very strong, but he acted too boldly and recklessly.
The spawns’ detection capabilities were strong, and their protection over the Helium research was meticulous.
Although Fang Heng had a strange ability to conceal himself visually, high-intensity perception could still detect him.
If he were discovered by accident...
Suddenly, two Evil Clan members in the room stood, looking toward the cabin entrance.
Fang Heng’s figure slowly emerged from the phantom.
Wu Yi saw it was Fang Heng and immediately relaxed, standing to ask, "Fang Heng, you’re back. Any discoveries?"
"Mm, I infiltrated the lower levels of the research institute and found some strange things."
Fang Heng quickly described what he had seen deep in the cavern beneath the research institute, gesturing to indicate the size.
Under the brocade was an irregular object, roughly rectangular, with a maximum length of less than two meters and a width of about one meter.
Listening to his description, Wu Yi and the other Evil Clan members showed serious expressions.𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"We also noticed a strange coercion in the research institute area long ago," one of the elders said.
The elder nodded and said, "The spawns never provided a clear explanation. They claimed this coercion was related to the ’Helium’ research."
