Mu Shunan and the others saw Fang Heng come out of his cultivation state and asked, "How was it?"
"Yeah, it’s definitely a good item. It enhances perception of external Laws, but the effect duration is a bit short."
Fang Heng nodded slightly and said with a hint of confusion, "Strange. I don’t recall anything like this being recorded in any branch of occult studies. Where did the spawns get it from?"
"Not just the spawns—the three major races, including the spawns, have all been poaching talent recently. The combat strength of the warriors under them has been increasing rapidly. I suspect it’s all related to these orbs."
"Let’s not dwell on it. The Noel Clan has more strength and heritage than wandering warriors like us who have no background or backing. If even we noticed something was off, they probably found out much earlier. Even if they’re not showing any moves yet, I’m sure they already have a counter-strategy."
Everyone nodded in agreement.
Fang Heng fell into deep thought.
The current cultivation speed was still too slow.
If only he had an endless supply of those orbs.
He figured he could look into that once they got back.
For now, the priority was to continue cultivating, and then tonight, head out with Nasir to explore the Lanyue Clan. Hopefully, they could find a method to break through the demigod-level in alchemy.
Just then, a crew member came running hurriedly from behind the ship’s deck.
"Warriors."
The crew member respectfully saluted Fang Heng and the others and reported, "The captain has something urgent to discuss and requests your presence."
Nasir straightened his expression and stretched, "Let’s go, sounds like we’ve got a job."
"Alright, let’s go take a look."
...
Inside the captain’s quarters, Captain Hoffman paced back and forth anxiously. When he saw Fang Heng and the others enter, he nodded and said, "Everyone, we’ve run into a bit of trouble."
"The Lanyue Clan suddenly turned hostile and attacked the crew who were transporting materials to us. Some of our people are now trapped in a mountain cave. I’ve already formed a team to investigate. Things may change quickly—I ask for your assistance."
The group exchanged looks upon hearing this.
Had the Lanyue Clan lost their minds?
They actually dared to make a move against them, and while knowing full well that warriors like them were present?
Something was definitely off.
"Let’s go. We’ll go with you."
"Alright, thank you all."
Captain Hoffman gathered his team and initiated the ship’s transition, arriving at the edge of a cliff near the cave mining area.
Standing on the cliff and looking down, they saw a bottomless pit below.
"This mine produces extremely rare ores. It’s also considered sacred ground to the Lanyue Clan, and outsiders are not allowed to enter. In the past, the Lanyue Clan was in charge of mining and would then hand over the ores to us."
"Today, for some unknown reason, they suddenly turned on our transport team and then hid inside the cave."
As he spoke, several guards disembarked from the ship and began assembling for battle outside.
Hoffman gave a brief overview of the situation and warned, "The cave entrance is at the bottom of the cliff. The Lanyue Clan has lived on this planet since birth and is extremely familiar with the terrain. I’m worried we’ll walk into an ambush if we charge in blindly."
"Alright. Let’s go down and take a look first."
One of the warriors spoke and leapt down the cliff first.
Fang Heng and the others followed one by one.
Hoffman waved his hand, leaving some personnel behind to guard the ship. He led the rest of the combat team, using flight devices to slowly descend to the base of the cliff.
Fang Heng stepped onto the bottom and looked around, his gaze fixing on a cave entrance hidden in the cliff wall.
Interesting.
The cave emitted a strange force, seemingly capable of devouring perception.
Fang Heng glanced at Nasir beside him.
Nasir also wore a puzzled expression.
The Laws here were a bit unusual.
"Yeah, something’s off," said one of the warriors who had walked up to the entrance and peeked inside. "Captain Hoffman, maybe we should send a few people in to scout first, and keep the main team waiting outside until we confirm it’s safe."
Hoffman nodded. "That would be best. I’ll leave it to you."
Fang Heng and six other warriors quickly gathered and decided that two would stay outside the cave to guard the team, while the other five would enter together.
Among them, a warrior named Edwen looked at the pitch-black cave entrance and sneered, "Tch, I’d like to see what kind of trick the Lanyue Clan is playing."
With that, Edwen took the lead and stepped into the cave.
Any one of the warriors present could be considered top-tier combat strength on most planets. Wiping out a normal planet would be no trouble at all.
The Lanyue Clan’s strongest fighter was barely at the level of a lower-tier warrior.
This team setup was already being very cautious.
Fang Heng and the other two exchanged glances and followed into the cave.
Inside, a faint purple glow illuminated the cave.
"It’s said that the Lanyue Clan’s world produces a special living ore that helps with cultivation in elemental science. They also have a secret method to stimulate the growth of this ore."
"That’s why the Noel Clan left the mining to the Lanyue Clan, and every month, the Lanyue Clan delivers a batch of materials to them."
Nasir explored the cave while slowing his steps and heading deeper. Suddenly, his eyes lit up as he pointed ahead into the cave.
"Fang Heng, look over there!"
Fang Heng followed Nasir’s finger and squinted.
An alchemy magic array!
Unfortunately...
It was just a normal rule-based array.
Roughly at the extraordinary level.
And the array was damaged—there wasn’t much value in studying it.
"They’re all ancient arrays. The Lanyue Clan had deep mastery of magic arrays in ancient times. Unfortunately, their inheritance broke off. These days, their understanding of alchemy is average at best. The strongest elder in the clan is only at the grandmaster level in alchemy," Nasir whispered while staying near the back of the group.
As they went deeper into the cave, everyone began to feel a strange sensation.
The entire cave had a mysterious, magical energy, as if it could swallow perception.
And so far, they hadn’t seen a single person.
What was the Lanyue Clan up to?
"Hey, look over there, another magic array."
Edwen spotted a torch ahead and walked over to examine it.
Several burning torches were wedged into cracks in the stone.
On the ground lay an old, medium-sized magic array.
"Hmm, it’s a Law-based array," Nasir said as he quickly stepped forward to inspect the alchemy magic array. His eyes flashed with surprise and admiration. "It’s a fusion-type array... It has some study value."
