Chapter 981: Xiao Chong Extra 40_2
Because Yan Yufei and Lin Wanwan worked part-time together, they had the best relationship. She couldn’t help teasing Lin Wanwan while washing up.
The two of them returned to the dormitory, bickering all the way. Lin Wanwan put away her toiletries, layered an apricot double-sided cashmere coat over her wool dress, donned a soft white scarf, and slipped into a pair of black Martin boots. She looked much more fashionable than in high school.
That’s normal; after all, in high school she wore a uniform every day, which couldn’t compare to the brand-name clothes she wore now.
"Dressed so nicely, are you going to have breakfast with the campus heartthrob?" asked Wu Xiangxiang, who had just walked in.
"Yes." Lin Wanwan replied, putting her phone in her pocket and grabbing her book before heading out, "I’m heading down now, bye-bye."
Since Xiao Chong routinely invited her for all three meals a day, she seldom went out with her roommates, always acting independently.
Downstairs, Xiao Chong was already sitting on his bike, feet on the ground, waiting.
Today, he was wearing a loose-fitting fake two-piece hooded cashmere coat. Like Lin Wanwan, the main color was apricot. He wore blue jeans below, looking casually stylish and effortlessly handsome.
Lin Wanwan was delighted by their tacit understanding. It felt like they were dressed in couple outfits, filling her heart with sweet joy.
"Hop on, let’s go get breakfast." Xiao Chong nodded his head. Lin Wanwan quickly walked up, perched on the back seat of the bicycle, naturally wrapping her arms around her boyfriend’s waist.
With one pedal, Xiao Chong sent the bike zooming toward the cafeteria carrying the two of them.
Though today was Lin Wanwan’s birthday, her studies hadn’t changed.
After a busy day of classes, Xiao Chong pedaled his bike with Lin Wanwan, taking a sunset stroll around Weiming Lake.
It was getting dark when Xiao Chong brought Lin Wanwan back to Wenting District.
After parking the bike at the lot downstairs, Xiao Chong held Lin Wanwan’s hand as they entered the elevator, only to find it unusually crowded today, but only the button for the sixth floor was lit, indicating everyone was heading there.
They shared the elevator with three strangers, each carrying several suitcases, packing the elevator tightly.
Xiao Chong had been living there for a month without noticing any signs of neighbors, suggesting these individuals had just moved in, and so it was coincidental they met in the elevator.
The elevator opened, and sure enough, the strangers wheeled their suitcases toward the neighboring Room 602.
Just as Xiao Chong was about to unlock his door, one middle-aged woman stepped back to introduce herself to the couple, saying her surname was He, her husband’s surname was Zhang, and their only daughter had just returned from abroad.
The petite and spirited girl who had been observing them chimed in, reaching out with a bright smile: "Hi, I’m Zhang Lingyan. We just moved here, please take care of us."
Xiao Chong nodded with a smile: "Hello, I’m Xiao Chong, living next door. Nice to meet you."
Zhang Lingyan withdrew her hand, and during the elevator ride, she had been quietly observing this stunningly attractive couple, feeling satisfied with her new neighbors.
"Oh, judging by your appearances, are you still studying or working?" the middle-aged woman asked again.
"Studying." Xiao Chong replied, standing with Lin Wanwan at the door, exchanging a few pleasantries with their new neighbors before politely saying goodbye.
Lin Wanwan stood behind Xiao Chong the entire time, smiling silently.
Upon entering the house, the sensor lights turned on. They took off their coats, hanging them on the mobile coat rack by the hallway.
The room had underfloor heating, making walking around in socks feel warm and comfortable.
"Why aren’t the main lights on?" Lin Wanwan walked a couple of steps inside, reaching for the switch on the wall.
The next second, she was stunned by what she saw.
The living room, which connected to the balcony with floor-to-ceiling windows, was adorned with fresh flowers, balloons, a backdrop with Lin Wanwan’s photos, and numerous ambient lights.
There were even beautiful small candles arranged to form Lin Wanwan’s birthday numbers, creating an especially beautiful sight.
Before she could recover from the shock, the study door suddenly opened, and several friends came out slowly, pushing a two-tiered cake while singing the birthday song.
Lin Wanwan covered her mouth in utter surprise. It was the first time she had experienced such a ceremonious birthday, inevitably bringing tears to her eyes.
Xiao Chong took a ring from the rose illuminated by the spotlight, pulled Lin Wanwan’s hand, and gently placed it on her middle finger, softly saying, "Wanwan, happy birthday."
"Wanwan, quickly make a wish and blow out the candles!"
With tears brimming in her eyes, Lin Wanwan nodded slightly, closing her eyes to make a sincere wish to grow old with Xiao Chong.
