Chapter 91: It’s None of Your Business (4)
His heart was racing. President Mu had never been that close with anyone, not even his parents. Zhao Youlin’s sudden move had caught him off guard.
If the previous Zhao Youlin were to do this a month, or half a month ago, Mu Tingfeng would have immediately tossed her away without giving her the opportunity to get this close.
The previous Zhao Youlin was never this bold either. She only cried to him and told him about her grievances in the hope that he would accept her and love her. In fact, did she even think she was worthy of his love and affection?
However, the person opposite him now was different. She had guts. Most importantly, he did not find her annoying. He even forgot that he could actually stretch out his hand and push her away. What the fudge was wrong?! Despite being the same person, how could she make him feel so differently?!
Just as Mu Tingfeng’s faith was slightly shaken, Zhao Youlin seized the opportunity by pulling out the folder pressed against the table under Mu Tingfeng’s hand.
Within the blink of an eye, Zhao Youlin finally got what she wanted. She naturally did not want to continue staring into Mu Tingfeng’s eyes. So, she hurriedly turned around and dashed toward the door.
Zhao Youlin took her bag, rose up and fled. She performed everything smoothly and all this had only taken not more than five seconds.
The moment Mu Tingfeng returned to his senses, Zhao Youlin was already at the cafe entrance door. She paused mid-stride, turned her head and showed the middle finger at him provocatively. She added, “It’s none of your business!”
Mu Tingfeng knew that she was replying to his previous question. He narrowed his eyes dangerously.
Mu Tingfeng watched Zhao Youlin until she was out of his sight. He gave off a cold aura. Just then, something had to interrupt him.
Mu Tingfeng’s mobile phone rang at the most inappropriate time. He grew increasingly displeased and when he answered the call, he was not surprised to hear his secretary, as well as his personal assistant’s miserable cries for help.
“President Mu, have you forgotten that you have a shareholders’ meeting to be held this morning and a partnership proposal worth hundreds of millions of dollars to be discussed later? Where are you now, President Mu? Why didn’t you pick up the call before this? Did you run into any trouble? Do you need me to come over and pick you up? Sobs, President Mu, please come back quickly. We can’t go on without you…”
Mu Tingfeng was already very unhappy with the fact that Zhao Youlin had run away. When he heard his personal assistant’s grumbling, he felt even more frustrated. He fell silent for some time before he blurted out, “Xia Zhetao…”
“Speaking, President Mu.”
“Your bonus for this month is forfeit.”
The person on the end of the line instantly fell into dead silence. After some time he seemed to have been snapped out of his daze. A long-drawn-out shriek was heard, “Ah…! President Mu, no…”
Mu Tingfeng hung up on him without hesitation when Xia Zhetao had just started to scream. He held the phone and looked at the two cups of coffee on the table for some time. After that, he dialed another phone number.
His call was picked up very soon. However, the person on the other end seemed to be very surprised that Mu Tingfeng had taken the initiative to call him. He asked, “Are you Feng?”
“Speaking,” Mu Tingfeng immediately went straight to the point, “Help me find out Zhao Youlin’s relationship with the people in Alpha team from the Marvel Police Force in S City.”
The person on the other end fell silent for some time. After that, he sounded surprised and asked, “When did you get involved with the police force?! Wait, Zhao Youlin? Is she the eldest lady of the Zhao family? She’s your ex, right? Why did you want to investigate her? Could it be that you finally saw the goodness in her and want to rekindle the romance with your old flame?”
“Nie Yunfan, stop talking and get the work started now.”
“Alright, I got it. I’ll stop teasing you. I’ll give you the information after three days.”
“Mhm.”
Mu Tingfeng hung up. He looked at the empty seat opposite him and recalled how they had been so close that their noses had almost touched. A faint glimmer appeared in his eyes.
