Chapter 381 - Daddy (1)
Chapter 381: Daddy (1)
Even though Ling Ran had clearly known that it was best to leave the place right after he picked up Ling Yuemei, his curiosity still got the better of him. He stood in place with his niece and watched the fun.
When Ling Yuemei noticed Ling Ran’s gossipy look, she glared at him disdainfully. Was he still acting like a man for being so gossipy?
Exactly because a certain one was so unreliable that he still could not get a wife at such an old age!
Ling Yuemei shook her head mischievously. When she looked in the direction where Ling Ran was staring at and took in the sight which was not far away from them, she was stupefied!
Joy was carrying his small school bag and waited at the main entrance. After he waited for some time, he still could not spot Zhao Youlin and Duan Yarong. His large eyes were filled with puzzlement.
After he waited for a while and still no one came to pick him up, the look of excitement and expectancy gradually faded from Joy’s face. He drooped his head.
Seeing his pitiful look, one truly could not help but want to take him into their arms and comfort him.
While Joy was drooping his head and looking disappointed, suddenly, he sensed a dark shadow enveloping him from above.
Joy was delighted. He knew that Zhao Youlin and the rest of her group must have come for him. A happy smile immediately showed up on his round face.
However, when the child was greeted by the sight of the tall and huge man blocking in front of him, the smile on his face completely turned stiff.
When Mu Tingfeng saw his son staring at him timidly, his heart clenched and he felt a little pain.
Before he gave it a second thought, he had already stretched out his hand toward Joy.
When Joy saw the pair of hands that were about the size of his small face, he reflexively closed his eyes. He did not panic nor did he retreat.
When Ling Yuemei saw Joy was shivering pitifully, her expression changed slightly. She dashed over to him.
Ling Ran was watching the sight intently. When he saw his niece abruptly rush over to them, his heart clutched. He quickly stretched out his hand and took her back.
“Lass, what are you doing?”
“Let go of me! Let me go! I want to go and rescue Joy! He is pestered by a bad guy. I want to go and save him. Uncle Ling Ran, let go of me now!”
“A bad guy?” Ling Ran froze. After some time, only then did he snap out of his daze and realize who the bad guy his niece had been referring to was. He did not know if he should laugh or cry as he said, “My dear princess, could you please not mess things up at this moment? He’s not a bad guy. Urm… Well, that guy does really look like a bad guy, but he isn’t a real one.”
He had just triggered Mu Tingfeng and caused him to release murderous intent. If the lass were to run over and stroke the tiger’s whiskers, would she still be coming back alive?
“Not a bad guy? How do you know if he is not a bad guy? Uncle Ling Ran, don’t you see that Joy is so frightened that he almost burst out in tears? No way! I must go and help him. Uncle, let go of me!”
“Of course I know that he is not a bad guy!” Lin Ran rolled his eyes at her in resignation. “That guy is Joy’s biological father. What are you running there for? Are you going there to strike his father?”
“Joy’s biological father?” Ling Yuemei was struggling and she abruptly jerked. She widened her eyes, turned her head around, and looked at Ling Ran in disbelief. “That guy is Joy’s own father?”
Ling Ran nodded his head solemnly. He thought that Ling Yuemei would finally stop once and for all. Little did he know that after she paused for a short moment, she started to struggle once again.
“My dear princess, everyone knows that that man is Joy’s biological father. Why do you still want to run over there? Do you really want to be tossed to the side by that guy?”
“Hmph! I’m not afraid of him! I want to go there and strike that bad uncle. Hmph! Don’t you think that you can simply fool me with all this. I have long learned that Joy’s parents have already divorced. That bad uncle doesn’t want Joy in the first place but now, he comes looking for him. He must have some other ulterior motives. Who knows that he might even want to sell Joy to human traffickers!”
Mu Tingfeng wanted to kidnap his own son and sell him to human traffickers?! If these words were to spread, the others would die laughing at it. Was the Mu family so poor so that he had to sell his own son? Hahaha! That was not funny at all!
Ling Yuemei did not care what Ling Ran had been thinking in his heart. At that moment, she was already caught up in her own small world. She looked terrified and murmured, “Joy looks so cute. The human traffickers must have a liking for a tender-skinned child like him. What happens if he falls into the hands of monstrous and heartless perverts who would do all kinds of things to him?! Ahhh! Uncle, let go of me! Let me go! I want to save Joy!”
‘Tender-skinned? Perverts? Do all kinds of things to him? I think you look more like a dangerous perverted old lady to Joy!’
The corners of Ling Ran’s lips twitched. He drew in a deep breath and asked, “Where did you learn all these words from?”
“Who else needs to tell me all this? Isn’t this very common? That’s what they show on television! Of course, I also think the same way!” Ling Yuemei looked up and glared at Ling Ran. Her disdainful expression was akin to saying how could Ling Ran be so stupid.
Ling Ran sucked in a cold breath before he said stiffly, “My dear child, you truly have a rich imagination. Also, stop watching those uneducated television dramas in the future. It really does affect one’s emotional intelligence.”
Ling Yuemei fell speechless.
Joy closed his eyes. His heart was racing as he waited for Mu Tingfeng’s hands to fall on him.
Within his expectations, he did not feel any pain. In fact, he felt the warmth that came from above him.
Joy was stunned. He tentatively opened his eyes, only to be greeted by Mu Tingfeng’s softened gaze as well as the huge hands above him that he had been missing so much.
The big hands above his head were warm and strong. Mu Tingfeng rubbed and caressed his hair. Joy squinted his eyes in comfort.
Before Joy came to realize why this big guy appeared here, Mu Tingfeng had already told him, “Your mommy asked me to pick you up.”
Joy froze. He widened his eyes and stared at Mu Tingfeng, looking at a loss.
Mu Tingfeng did not speak anything further. He bent over and scooped Joy up.
Joy looked at Mu Tingfeng who had suddenly lowered his head. He reflexively wanted to retreat. However, when he recalled that Mu Tingfeng had carried him before at the amusement park, he stopped moving backward and was rooted on the spot.
By the time Joy returned to his senses, he was already in Mu Tingfeng’s arms just like when they were inside the haunted house in the amusement park.
When Mu Tingfeng saw that Joy did not show any hint of discomfort, he turned around and carried him toward the car that was parked not far away from them.
Joy nestled in his warm embrace. He sized up the man who looked very much like him with incredible curiosity.
After some time, he looked like he had summoned up a lot of courage before he carefully wrapped his hands around Mu Tingfeng’s neck and rested his small head on Mu Tingfeng’s shoulder.
After he finished doing all this and found that Mu Tingfeng had not rejected him, Joy pouted his lips and called softly, “Daddy…”
