Chapter 508 - 508 Impolite
508 Impolite
The horse that was pulling the carriage was still the same black horse. Its fur was especially black and shiny, and it was extremely well-built.
“Xue Yan, Jiang Yue.” As soon as he alighted from the carriage, Shiye cupped his fists. Then, he began to move the things down from the carriage.
There were quite a lot of things, so Jiang Yue and Xue Yan helped to move them.
They were all sent to Shao Shuting’s room.
There was also a big bag, which was Shiye’s luggage.
Shiye wanted to sleep on the floor beside Shao Shuting’s bed so that he could stay there and take care of his master. However, Shao Shuting’s room wasn’t big, so Jiang Yue and Xue Yan planned to let Shiye stay in another empty room in Xue Dagui’s house.
It was probably Shao Shuting’s intention that Shiye had prepared gifts for everyone in their family.
To the farmers, it was an especially generous gift, but to Shao Shuting, a young master from a prominent family, this gift was too cheap. In any case, Jiang Yue and Xue Yan had to accept it.
After everything was moved out of the carriage, Shiye freed his horse from the wooden carriage and set it aside. Then, he sent his horse to Jiang Yue and Xue Yan’s stables.
Fortunately, the stables were quite big and could fit another horse.
Shiye came back after feeding the horses some grass, and then he took a big basket to pick two seedless watermelons with Jiang Yue and Xue Yan.
Before he left, he placed a small table beside the bed and placed a brush, ink, paper, and an inkstone on the table. Some of the ink had also been ground on the inkstone.
Jiang Yue and Xue Yan didn’t need to look to know that Shao Shuting was going to write something. They didn’t say anything and just stood in the corridor, waiting for Shiye.
“You should go.” After a pause, Shao Shuting couldn’t help but remind him, “Don’t look at their young age. They saved me, so you can rest assured.”
“Yes!” Shiye immediately cupped his fists and accepted the order.
Jiang Yue and Xue Yan walked in front, with Shiye holding a large basket in one hand and his sword in the other. With the scar on his face, he looked quite intimidating. When they met the villagers, they couldn’t help but look at him curiously, but then quickly averted their eyes in fear.
Everyone was relieved when they heard that he was the servant of the young master that Jiang Yue and Xue Yan had rescued and that he was not an unpardonable criminal.
When they arrived at the watermelon field, Shiye was quite surprised to see how big the watermelons were.
It was not that he had never seen a watermelon field before, but other people’s watermelon fields did not grow as well as the watermelons on this acre of watermelons.
Jiang Yue entered the watermelon field alone and picked two seedless watermelons that could be picked. Then, Xue Yan carried them one by one to the other side of the field and placed them into the basket on her back for Shiye, who was waiting.
Shiye wanted to help, but he was not familiar with the watermelon field. It was growing so well with vines everywhere, and he was afraid that he would trample on the watermelon field if he was not careful enough.
After picking the watermelons, Jiang Yue and Xue Yan didn’t go back to Xue Dagui’s house. Instead, they went to the paddy field to see how the rice they had harvested back today was doing.
After Shiye returned to Xue Dagui’s house, he began to stuff things into the wicker basket so that the two watermelons wouldn’t crack even if they were jolted.
Shiye then entered Shao Shuting’s room again.
Shao Shuting had already written two letters. One was for the Emperor to request time off to recuperate. The other was for his sister, Empress Shao.
“Quickly get someone to send it over.” Shao Shuting said.
