Chapter 3728: Freezing Cold

The Worldly Laws descended around Alex, allowing him to take a deeper look into the hidden mysteries of what he was going to learn.

The four around him quickly noticed what Dao it was that Alex was learning and couldn’t believe just how quickly he had done it.

Even if someone had already understood a Dao close to fully, they would still usually take a little more than just 2 weeks to learn it. The fact that Alex had called on the Worldly Laws this early was quite unbelievable.

Lan Suyin watched Alex slowly learn the new Dao and gulped in response as she realized he was going to have one more Dao now. She wasn’t even sure how many he already had before this. She had kind of lost count back then.

This was one more addition to his number that was already far too high.

Her eyes narrowed a second later, her jaw dropping slowly as she sensed something that the others had already sensed before her. Two weeks was far too early to try and understand a Dao, which was why she hadn’t clearly differentiated between the Daos that felt similar.

Now that she focused on it, she realized that Alex wasn’t just learning a single Dao.

He was learning two of them.

Alex took in the knowledge of both Daos at once, understanding that which he had been missing all this time, until he finally learned them fully.

He first learned the Dao of Freezing, the process of liquid becoming solid through a method of heat leaving the liquid and transferring to something else.

Then, once he learned it fully, he learned the next Dao, which was the Dao of Cold. That was the simple understanding of the lack of heat and the comparison that led to the understanding of something having less heat.

There was enough truth inside those Daos that included the Dao of Water, which, if Alex didn’t know, would’ve made this a lot harder to learn. But since he did, he easily learned the two Daos at once.

While the Worldly Laws were still there, Alex looked further into another similar Dao that had to do with the Daos of Cold, Ice, and Freezing.

It was the Dao of Snow.

Sadly, he could barely learn anything about it before the Worldly Laws moved away from him, retreating back into the sky and vanishing.

Alex let out a breath he had been holding for a long time and looked toward the sculpture once again. Now, he understood the effect taking place upon the sculpture so much better.

Before he could even do anything else, a voice spoke in his mind, while something flashed before him.

"Congratulations on learning two new Daos," the voice said. "You have now been assigned to another room. You may choose to visit it or leave as per your wish."

While the voice in his mind faded away, Alex looked at what had arrived before him.

Stars.

Many, many stars.

It took Alex until then to remember that this was a test site, and successfully passing the trial set within this site gave one stars.

There were 10 stars given to a person per Dao they already knew if they managed to learn a new Dao.

Since Alex had registered with 47 Daos, he was set to receive 470 stars should he succeed. That was as high as what he had received when he burned the Divinity with the power of the Sun inside his Soul Space.

But no, there was more.

In fact, Alex had received more than double what he should have. Counting it all, he found that he had instead earned 950 stars in total in just 2 weeks.

’I got paid for both of the Daos I learned,’ Alex thought. ’I got 460 stars from the first Dao, and then 470 from the second Dao. It must’ve taken into account that I now had 48 Daos when it rewarded me for the second Dao.’

He finally stood up from where he sat in the grass, wondering if he should leave or go to the next room. Unless the next room held something to help him with the Dao of Snow, he doubted he could do much in the 2 weeks he had.

’Well, I can only figure that out if I try,’ Alex thought and turned to walk out.

He glanced toward the four people who stared at him with stunned expressions and gave a slight bow before walking out of the room. No one spoke or did anything to stop him, so Alex saw no reason to stay in that room anymore.

He wondered what the next room he was being sent to was and found a door further in that glowed for him.

There was no downside to entering the next room. If it was a place where he couldn’t learn the Dao in the next 2 weeks, then he could just leave.

So, Alex went toward it in quick steps.

There were 2 people inside the room when he arrived, already in such deep focus that they didn’t even realize someone had entered.

Alex’s attention was quickly pulled toward the thing that floated in the center.

"Oh!" he let out a short sound of surprise, his eyebrows raised at the sight that lay before him.

In the center of the room was a cloud, a floating fluff of impossibility that hung suspended without merging or fading away.

As Alex got closer, he expected to feel an aura that would help him learn a Dao that dealt with vapor, mist, cloud, or even rain. And while he did sense them to some small degree, what surprised him was that the overwhelming aura that came off the floating piece of cloud was actually the Dao of Softness.

’Huh?’ he thought, fascinated by the fluffy cloud and the softness it represented.

He walked further into the room and simply sat in one of the empty spots, preparing to learn more about this Dao.
