Chapter 3700: Shock and Surprise
The yellow spot they went to was slightly different from the others they had gone to until now.
While before there had been a puppet or a sculpture of some sort waiting for them, this time, it was a Divinity.
The man sat on a comfortable chair inside a large barrier that seemed to hide all sound from within. At the moment the group arrived there, a younger cultivator was inside, sitting opposite the Divinity and seemingly saying something.
The young man held something in his hand, while the Divinity wore some sort of artifact around his head. Next to him was a large white crystal that looked incredibly out of place. A moment later, the color of the crystal changed to a dull orange, and the young man left the place disappointed.
After the young man left, someone else walked in.
There were easily a thousand people surrounding the place, many of whom were waiting for their turn.
Alex and the group went to get registered before even figuring out exactly what it was they were doing there. The place where they registered was a little crowded, so it took some time.
As Alex waited, he heard some people talking.
"Yeah, I could try doing that, but I think I’m going to stick to my grandfather’s identity. That might bring a better reaction," a woman said.
"True," the man next to her said. "Your grandfather is a well-known Divinity. I think I’ll tell him about my Dao. It’s quite a rare Dao, after all."
"You should do that," the woman said.
"Look," Helen suddenly said as the crowd parted a little, allowing them to see something that had previously been hidden. "More banners."
The banners were hung low here, with far more text on them explaining what was happening than anywhere else Alex had been to until now. He pushed through the crowd until he got a proper view of the entire banner.

The crystal pillar will reflect a change in color based on the degree of the Divinity’s current emotion. You will receive stars based on the colors on the crystal.
Red — 0 stars
Orange — 0 stars
Yellow — 1 star
Green — 5 stars
Blue — 20 stars
Indigo — 100 stars
Violet — 500 stars
You will only have 2 minutes to say or do what you want. If you fail to change his emotions within that time, you gain nothing.
Once Alex read the text, he allowed his family to read it too before they could rethink whether they wanted to register for it or not.
"What do you think?" Alex asked. "Do we join or not?"
"Aren’t you good at this?" Battlesage asked, looking at Alex. "You do this all the time with people who aren’t easily surprised. This is easy for you."
Alex chuckled slightly. "Yes, but I’m usually telling them something very important. I don’t think I can say anything like that to a random Divinity, you know?"
Battlesage shrugged. "You have to have something you could say to him, right?" he asked.
Alex looked back at the banner, reading it again. Turning back, he gave a shrug as well. "I suppose I will be joining then."
It took them another 15 minutes before they were all registered, at which point they could go nowhere else, so they found a place where they could sit and watch the whole thing.
The Divinity looked a little bored as he sat leaning on his arm, waiting for the woman before him to say something surprising. The crystal changed colors, becoming a mild red that never crossed over to even orange.
She had to leave in the end without earning any stars.
Unfortunately, many people were just the same. Their information, which they believed to be fascinating, mattered very little to actual Divinities who had an entirely different set of priorities and understandings of the world.
People kept going in, and the colors failed to change much. It mostly hovered between orange and yellow, only occasionally going into green, but even that was rare.
Alex watched the woman he had overheard earlier go onto the platform after half a day. Alex and the rest couldn’t hear anything being said inside, as the barrier protected all secrets from being revealed. So, whatever truth about her grandfather it was, it remained inside the barrier.
The woman said something, and the Divinity raised his eyebrows slightly, clearly a little surprised. The color on the crystal next to him went up to a brighter shade of blue. Whatever she had told the Divinity had been surprising enough to the point that Alex wished he could hear it.
"Is she anyone important?" Alex asked Ronron.
Ronron took a moment to look at the woman before silently shaking her head. "She looks like no person I know. Even her robes look unfamiliar. She’s either not someone important, or she’s hiding herself in this secret realm."
Alex could understand that. "She just won 20 stars by saying who her grandfather was. I thought she would be important because of that."
Ronron could only give a thin smile in response. There wasn’t much she could do to help him when she knew so little.
"Do you recognize the Divinity by any chance?" Alex asked. "It will be easier to think of what to do and what not to do if we can decide on that."
Ronron shook her head slowly with a disappointed look. "If he is important, I’ve never seen him."
After the woman who had gotten the crystal to shine blue left, many others went onto the platform. Only two other people managed to get blue, while a small portion got green, and the rest were below that.
After enough time passed, it was finally their turn.
And based on their registration, Helen was the first to go.
