Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy

Chapter 3665: Renye’s Prediction

Chapter 3665: Renye’s Prediction

Alex spoke for some time all on his own, with Yang Renye occasionally chiming in to voice his surprise or shock. It appeared that he hadn’t even learned about Alex participating in the alchemy tournament and winning, so when he spoke of that, the man was genuinely excited.

"You won an alchemy tournament?" he asked with a laugh. "I knew you were great, but this is beyond what I expected."

Alex continued, reaching the part where he was sent to Hell. He spoke partly of the two prophecies that led to the situation, not daring to reveal the fact that one of them was a falsified prophecy, made solely to ensure his survival, whereas the other one would have simply made the gods kill him, as that was the easiest solution to the problem.

Then he spoke of his time in Hell, how he met Bladedance, and how he found a way to escape. He spoke of traveling the Void and then arriving at a place he didn’t remember. And then, when he came out of there a thousand years or so later, he was off to the Beast Realm.

Yang Renye listened to his story in rapt attention. There were so many twists and turns to Alex’s journey that he could have never expected him to have done so much in just 2 thousand years.

Alex didn’t speak on the matters of the Sun’s Talon realm, or the fact that he had nearly become a True God. It just didn’t feel relevant to the conversation they were having. Besides, he didn’t want to reveal such truths to just anyone, even if that person was Yang Renye.

Alex told the man how he had finally arrived at the Sacred Lotus Dominion and found Hao Ya there.

Yang Renye blinked in surprise. "Hmm? Hao Ya came here with you?" he asked.

Alex nodded.

"But it has already been 2000 years. She’s a talented girl. She shouldn’t have taken that long to ascend," he said.

"She didn’t. She... had her own troubles," Alex said, wondering if he should speak on that or not.

"What troubles?"

Once the man prompted him, Alex decided to tell him. He at least deserved to know that much. Hearing that the soldiers who should have been working for his master had, for some reason, turned on his disciple made the man visibly angry.

"Master!" he called out to the Sky God. "Has something been done to them? Please, you must find justice for my disciple."

"Calm down," the Sky God said from where she sat. "Listen to what he has to say first."

Yang Renye turned toward Alex, waiting for him to continue. Alex nodded and spoke on the soldiers, how he had killed one of them, and how the rest had somehow died on their own.

"What the hell? What is going on?" he asked.

Alex shrugged. "I don’t think anyone knows at all."

Yang Renye scratched his chin, but even as he tried thinking of any possibilities, he couldn’t come up with anything. The only possibility he could see was that a Half-God had involved themselves with the soldiers, helping them break their oaths.

However, if that was true, the Sky God would have noticed. So their oaths hadn’t been messed with. Which meant the soldiers had somehow found a way to bypass the oaths. If that was the case, how did they do that?

Even if they did, what could they possibly gain by making an enemy out of a god? Everything felt so illogical.

Yang Renye let out a deep breath he had been holding. "I can’t make sense of what is happening. For now, as long as Hao Ya has made it here safely, that’s all I care about."

"She did," Alex confirmed.

Yang Renye’s emotions settled a lot more before he looked back at Alex. "Still, considering all your talents, I would have hoped you would have reached a much higher cultivation base by now. But it’s understandable you didn’t since you’ve had such a hard time."

"Actually—"

Alex paused. He wanted to explain for some reason that he didn’t have a hard time, but then realized that everything that had happened to him did mean just that. So it wasn’t wrong to say that.

"Yeah, I did have some issues along the way."

Renye leaned back against a pillar. "So you finally arrived here. Did you join the cult by any chance? Are you a soldier in the palace? You probably will become a Reverend soon if you are."

"No, I haven’t joined," Alex answered. "I... I need to return to the Blue Silk sect first since I made a promise there. After that, I’ll see what I want to do. I don’t know if I want to join the cult, but if I see it necessary, I might."

Yang Renye’s eyes narrowed in that moment, as though he saw through some part of Alex that he had been trying to hide.

"Could it be... you want to become a god yourself, don’t you?" he asked.

Alex looked up with a hint of surprise. "What makes you say that?"

"Just a hunch. The only reason I can see why someone wouldn’t join another god’s cult is because they are already in a cult or want to establish one of their own. It stands to reason for one to not do so otherwise," he said. "So, do you want to become a God?"

Alex wasn’t sure how to answer that question. "I suppose I’m not against the idea. But I don’t think it can happen anytime soon, so I haven’t exactly given it any thought," he said. "For now, the sole reason why I don’t want to join the cult is because I promised I wouldn’t join any organization. After I return to the sect and spend some time there, I might give it some thought."

Yang Renye grinned a little. "The day I found out you existed, I had already predicted that you would become a god. So, if you were to become one, what god would you be?"
