Chapter 3640: Spirit Roots and Elements
Chapter 3640: Spirit Roots and Elements
The knowledge Alex gained on his own during the past few decades had all culminated in him learning a single Dao.
The Dao of Spirit Root Interaction.
The Dao detailed a full understanding of what he had already been gaining partially. Because of it, Alex no longer had to continue with this training as all the information he could gain going forward was now already available to him.
It wasn’t just information about the effects of certain combinations of spirit roots he would have tested in the future, but also other tests he hadn’t even thought to do.
When the Worldly Laws descended, they allowed him to learn more secrets from them.
Alex now even understood the existence of the mutated spirit roots, which he had never before been able to.
There existed Lightning and Wind spirit roots, mutations of the Wood root. While the Wood Root by itself could not be influenced by either Yang or Yin roots, the Lightning Root and Wind Root could.
Lightning Root held a partial affinity to the Yang root and could thus be influenced by it.
Wind Root held a partial affinity to the Yin root and could thus be influenced by it as well.
Similarly, Crystal roots, a mutated Earth root, held a partial affinity to the Yin root as well, and could be influenced by the Yin root to a greater degree than Earth could.
Ice roots, a mutated Water root, held a partial affinity to the Yin root and were thus influenced by a Yin root far more than regular Water roots.
Crystal and Ice roots were the roots that were easier to find, while Lightning and Wind were truly incredibly rare. As for other mutated roots, if they existed at all, they were bound to be unique.
Before gaining the Dao, Alex never truly understood how they could exist, and only now did he finally understand. He gained a deep understanding of how these interacted with the other regular spirit roots as well, becoming more proficient as he gained the Dao.
At the same time, his cultivation speed rose thanks to the Worldly Laws as well, pushing him further and further. Along with Worldly Laws always came a rich environment of Qi that was perfect for cultivating in, which Alex made good use of.
However, now that he had learned the Dao, the Worldly Laws were bound to retreat back to the heavens. Alex wanted them to stay for some time longer.
As though listening to his command, the Worldly Laws did remain for longer than they should have. But that had nothing to do with Alex’s wishes, and everything to do with Alex’s understanding of his Daos.
New, and old.
Alex’s understanding from the Worldly Laws went a step beyond.
He learned even more about the spirit roots and elements, gaining bits and pieces that he couldn’t from the law he had learned alone, pushing his understanding just enough that something clicked within him.
And then, the descended Worldly Laws changed.
They suddenly grew stronger, more powerful, as Alex dragged in the knowledge he received from them and the Qi that came along with them.
Alex could tell now that he was on the verge of breaking through as well, both in cultivation and in Dao.
The knowledge came first. Rich and deep, an understanding of elements beyond something that could ever be taught by someone. A knowledge that encompassed interactions for both the energy and the spirit roots. Whether it was regular elements, the higher elements, as well as the mutations that appeared from the mixing of the two, Alex now understood it all perfectly.
Alex had once learned the Dao of Five Elemental Interaction. Upon improving his knowledge of the other elements by gaining the various Daos, he was able to push it a step beyond, into learning the Dao of Seven Elemental Interaction.
And now, he had also learned the Dao of Spirit Root Interaction.
Combining that knowledge into one, along with the rest of the gaps filled accordingly with the rest of the understanding he gained from the Worldly Laws, Alex turned the two Daos into a single one, learning a stronger, unique Dao.
The Greater Dao of Spirit Roots and Elements.
Alex slowly opened his eyes as the new understanding settled onto him. His eyes narrowed in surprise as he finally digested what had happened to him. In the midst of performing another test, he had ended up learning a Dao instead.
And not just any simple Dao, but one that ended up combining with another Dao to form a stronger Dao.
"The Greater Dao of Spirit Roots and Elements," Alex thought with a strange expression on his face. "I wasn’t aware there was such a thing as a Greater Dao. How does it differ from a True Dao?"
Alex held that question for just a bit longer. He didn’t even get the chance to review his new Dao as he felt the Worldly Laws beginning to leave. Even when they left, the Qi they brought along would remain for some moments longer before it dissipated back into the atmosphere.
He had to make quick use of that.
Without any further thought, Alex brought out a cultivation pill and ate it, before closing his eyes to continue his cultivation session. He cultivated for more than 2 weeks, aided by the Qi in the surroundings until it had all faded away. He continued even afterward as he was inching toward the next step.
What should have realistically taken him another few years, maybe even a decade, without using a cultivation pill had instead been accelerated forward thanks to him understanding a new Dao.
And now, he made use of that opportunity to push himself a step forward.
Like a paper-thin wall that could barely hold back under the slightest pressure, Alex broke through his bottleneck and improved his cultivation base once again.
Alex reached the Immortal Transcendent 5th realm.
He opened his eyes again with a wide smile, happy that his cultivation base had improved at such a tremendous rate. And with no more testing left to be done, he could focus himself onto more breakthroughs without any distractions.
