Seeing that the matter was getting out of hand and that Ling Yun might be getting the short end of the stick, the waitress couldn’t help but step in and mediate. “Captain Zhang, isn’t this too much for just a private room? Besides, before you came, this gentleman had already agreed to switch rooms.”
The fat*ss, Captain Zhang, that the beautiful waitress spoke of was Zhang Dengke, squadron leader of the City Urban Administrative and Law Enforcement Bureau of Qingxi. He was originally a local hooligan in the district, but he had relative ties with Deputy Mayor Xie Zhenting of Qingshui City. Hence he was running rampant in the district of Qingshui City, mostly unchallenged.
Zhang Dengke had always been the bully in Qingxi District, but now Ling Yun had thrown a barrage of insults in his face. Of course he would be livid!
Although he didn’t hold a major post, he still had a disproportionately large amount of influence and a powerful background. Hence there was never a shortage of people trying to curry favor with him through dining with him at the sixth floor of Qingshui Restaurant. Therefore, the beautiful waitress tried to placate Captain Zhang Dengke’s anger with an appeasing tone to deescalate the situation. She knew who Captain Zhang was and what he meant to the restaurant.
“Stay the f*ck out of today’s business. He agreed to switch rooms? Then what is he waiting for? Nevermind, it’s too late for him to switch now anyways. I’m gonna let him know who’s boss today!”
Zhang Dengke had already called some of his own people, and it wasn’t even noon yet, meaning that it would be another half an hour before his boss arrived. Even if he flipped the tables right then and there, he would still have ample time to clean up the mess.
Seeing that her mediation attempt fell on deaf ears, the beautiful waitress could only glance apologetically at Ling Yun and the girls, expressing her helplessness.
Ling Yun merely laughed at the words of Captain Zhang as he waved his hand at the waitress. “Hey, pretty, I’m staying in this private room today. Please serve the dishes as ordered and open this window.”
Ling Yun pointed to the floor-to-ceiling window at the side that was only five meters away from the Qingshui Lake outside.
The beautiful waitress was confused and looked at the air-conditioning inside the private room. Why would he need to open the window?
“I’ll go!” Xue Meining rolled her eyes and rose cheerfully, as if she already knew what Ling Yun was planning. She opened it as wide as possible, and a warm current of air made its way into the room, filling it with the fresh scent from the lake.
Miao Xiaomiao didn’t know what Ling Yun had up his sleeves. All she could do was shake her head, let out a sigh, and glance pitifully at Captain Zhang.
Zhang Dengke was in for some trouble.
“Hmph, what a good pose, damn. Let’s see how long you can keep it up!”
Little did he know, his doom was imminent. What a bad time to flaunt his prowess.
“Thud thud thud…”
Soon, seven or so people arrived, all of them from the City Urban Administrative and Law Enforcement Bureau of Qingxi. With their usual aberrant demeanor, they started asking questions once they entered the room. “Captain Zhang, which ignorant a**hole got on your nerves again? Are they looking to get beaten up?”
Zhang Dengke was put to ease once his men arrived. Honestly, although he had a dominant stature, Ling Yun had a height of more than 180 cm too. Up until then, he was holding back for fear that Ling Yun might have the upper hand.
Zhang Dengke grinned menacingly and chined towards Ling Yun, who was still sitting upright on the chair smiling. Slightly squinting his pea-sized eyes, he said with a cold smile, “Director Liu is seeing important guests today, which is why he called me up and asked me to book the best available private room here. Who knew that there would be an arrogant brat here who is hell-bent on staying in the room! He even insulted me!”
“What? I’ll see which f*cker has the audacity to insult our Captain Zhang.”
The seven people were livid. One after another they rolled up their sleeves and were about to charge into the room.
“Hey, Big Head, be civilized. Finish up that pretty boy but remember not to hurt those two beauties.”
Zhang Dengke was a very lustful man. The two tender pairs of snow-white thighs enchanted him, and more than that, they prompted him to contemplate how to get close to the two unparalleled beauties in the room.
“Rest easy capt, we do this for a living!”
The enforcement officer nicknamed Big Head indeed had a disproportionately sized head that was the size of a pumpkin. Seeing Captain Zhang express his tenderness towards the girls, he turned around and sneered, heading straight into Lakeview Hall.
Ling Yun was still seated still in the chair, watching Big Head charge at him with a calm smile. Suddenly, he lifted his hand and said, “Wait…”
“Wait? For what? Chap, you’ve offended our captain, and it’s already too late to be sorry!”
Three people had followed right after Big Head. It was an off-day for the enforcement officers, so they were in civilian attire.
“I just wanted to ask — do you have any non-waterproof valuables with you?” Ling Yun asked seriously.
Big Head was befuddled. It wasn’t even raining, why would he care about that? In a moment’s time, he returned to his glaring stare and said, “Chap, don’t try to drag out the time. Things are already this way, and no one can help you now. Your apology can wait until after we finish beating you up!”
Qingshui Restaurant was a public place. Doubled with the fact that it was peak business hours, the entire sixth floor was brimming with people. The fact that the enforcement officers used violence in such a setting was a testament to their cruelty to the normal tradespeople and peddlers.
“Save your breath! All at once, drag this chap outside for a good beating!”
Zhang Dengke knew that the assault was insignificant so long as he had properly completed the task assigned by Director Liu. Hence he had to settle the business and clean up the scene before Director Liu arrived with his guests.
Right after his order, four other enforcement officers in civilian attire, who had been eagerly waiting outside, charged right into the room. They formed a circular barricade around Ling Yun.
Seeing that things had really gone south, the beautiful waitress was so frightened that she forgot to cry for help.
Miao Xiaomiao and Xue Meining, however, nested their pretty cheeks between their hands and sat there with a calm smile, waiting for the show to start.
The two beauties had witnessed Ling Yun kill enemies. For commoners, the group of seven stout men was a nightmare, but for Ling Yun, they were even less significant than the ants at their feet.
And they indeed were.
They surrounded Ling Yun’s seat, but before they could get close to him, Ling Yun lightly waved his hand.
“Bam!”
“Swish!”
After a giant bang and swish, a large silhouette had flown past the window.
This was the sixth floor!
“Ahhh…” The man let out a tragic cry that didn’t resemble a human voice as he fluttered his limbs profusely in the air. He formed an aesthetic parabola in the air as he went towards Qingshui Lake.
The top floor was nearly twenty meters from the ground, so Ling Yun used just enough force to throw him into the lake over twenty meters away. He didn’t want to kill anyone.
“Huh? This…”
The rest of the seven enforcement officers, including Big Head, and along with Captain Zhang Dengke and the beautiful waitress, were all dumbfounded.
No one saw what Ling Yun had done. All they knew was that their vision blurred and a shrill cry ensued, which happened to be from the lucky enforcement officer who was missing from the circle around Ling Yun.
“F*ck, how… how can he kill him? What if Lee dies from the fall?”
Big Head assessed the situation. He hadn’t even touched Ling Yun yet, but Lee had already flown out the window. In an instant, his face was wax yellow, and he yelled in exasperation.
His shocked trance made him forget the presence of the lake near Qingshui Restaurant, which was just five meters away from the room. Any jumps at that height would just be met by the large pool of water.
“This… this…”
Blood had drained from Zhang Dengke’s face once he realized what had happened. He had bullied a lot of people in his life and witnessed all things bloody, but he dared swear that he had never seen anything like flinging a man from the sixth floor of a building.
“Sh*t, this chap dares kill my man… Guys, go for him!”
Zhang Dengke was a vicious character himself. People being beaten into a coma was not an unfamiliar sight to him. Hence his eyes lit up once more with spitefulness as he put down another order.
The last thing people wanted in a fight was blood rush. Once the blood came rushing in boiling, people would lose their rationality. The remainder of the enforcement officers lost their minds upon seeing Ling Yun kill in broad daylight. They once more made a beeline for Ling Yun, showing little consideration for Ling Yun’s overwhelming strength.
Ling Yun sneered and held his gaze still. “What are you giggling about, Ning Er? Call the firefighting team!” Ling Yun told Xue Meining, who was watching the show unfold from the sidelines.
Forever had passed since Ling Yun last hurled people for fun. Since it was a convenient setting, he wanted to enjoy himself scaring some of these unaware dumba**es. However, anticipating that there could be pros in the group too, he advised Xue Meining.
“No worries, boats are more than abundant on the lake.” Xue Meining giggled.
As a person anxious to see the world in disorder, she had even thought of the boats on the surface of the lake.
Ling Yun thought that it was indeed true that motorboats were everywhere on Qingshui Lake, so there was little concern about people drowning. Thus, with a chuckle and a pair of hands as quick as lightning, he flung all of them, one by one, into Qingshui Lake.
In less than half a minute, the enforcement officers that Zhang Dengke had called were all flung into the lake, like dumplings in a wok.
“You… You…”
Zhang Dengke was completely stupefied. Never in his dreams would he believe that the smiling pretty boy would be so strong a character.
In between jovial conversation, all the people that he had called into the room were flung out the window by Ling Yun.
Meanwhile, screams of panic and cries for help reverberated downstairs as motorboats scurried to rescue the drowning men.
Ling Yun waved his hand and asked smilingly, “Hey, fat captain, it’s been a hot day. Would you be interested in a swim in Qingshui Lake to cool yourself down?”
