Chapter 5212: What Kind Of Reward?
Chapter 5212: What Kind Of Reward?
’Bear... my... fate...?’
For a moment, Davis couldn’t make heads or tails of this strange statement.
He had long come to the conclusion that Divergents were people whose fates didn’t belong to this world, and hence, were unwanted objects that needed to be eradicated. They may not be foreign, but they were still unwanted because they disrupt the balance and only cause harm to the universe.
Hence, the Heavens’s Will deemed them unnecessary, even giving its blessings to the lifeforms underneath it to do the job of house cleaning.
Then came the suddenly question from the Celestial Transcendent.
What kind of reward does he want?
Davis was still reeling from the shock that he had dropped from a Desolate Divergent to an Anarchic Divergent.
Even amongst Anarchic Divergents, there was a huge divide, with one being able to pull one Paragon Magical Beast, and another being able to pull all twelve, and there was him and World Master who were able to invite the Celestial Transcendent to a bloody battle.
Hence, there was no need to say anything about the difference between an Anarchic Divergent and a Desolate Divergent.
The Heaven’s Will had even injured itself- the universe, to get rid of him. That was how dangerous he was despite being an Empyrean.
For the universe to have accepted and borne some of his fate, Davis suddenly felt at a loss.
For the whole battle as a Ghost Will, his resentment had reached a new high. It was his state as a vengeful ghost, so it couldn’t be helped, so after he came out of it, he supposed he would still hold onto that resentment.
Even during the battle, he was carefully monitoring his mental state and maintained self-awareness at all times. Otherwise, he would easily fold in front of the Celestial Transcendent if left to rage and vengeance.
But now, where should that resentment go?
Moreover, the Celestial Transcendent was claiming that he might reward him?
Davis closed his eyes, throwing away all these thoughts into the back of his head as he wondered what he wanted the most, what the Celestial Transcendent would agree to, what the Celestial Transcendent would disagree to.
He was well aware that just because he had dropped to an Anarchic Divergent didn’t mean that he would go back to being a Desolate Divergent again.
His soul physique was ill-fated, and as long as he possessed Fallen Heaven, this wouldn’t change.
So the logical conclusion is to gain all the advantages he can while he can, no matter who it is from.
He put down his anger and filled himself with thoughts full of priorities, such as safely evacuating Evelynn and this mission group, making his family safe, and allowing them to enjoy a better life like any other power with only mundane problems to deal with while facing a rival or two powers in the regional area.
When Davis opened his eyes, he looked like he had already made up his mind.
"I want this realm."
*Bzzz!~*
His blonde hair began to sway wildly as he broke past a limit and reached Level Five Empyrean Stage, his cultivation still showing signs of rising from the heavenly life lake’s tempering.
The surge of power from the heavenly life lake coursed through Davis like an endless river of pure vitality, nourishing every fiber of his being. His chaotic meridians expanded and refined themselves under the gentle baptism, transforming from sturdy channels into luminous pathways that could withstand the weight of extreme force.
Each breath he took with his pores drew in the lake’s essence, fortifying his bones until they resonated with the unyielding strength comparable to High-Level Exalt Grade ores, his muscles weaving together with supple resilience that blended explosive power and enduring flexibility.
The heavenly life lake’s fluid mainly seeped into his soul sea, washing away the lingering scars of his vengeful ghost state and polishing his spiritual foundation to a flawless sheen. His soul force grew denser, more cohesive, allowing his Will to extend farther and command the surrounding energies with effortless authority.
Impurities that had accumulated through countless battles dissolved entirely, replaced by a profound clarity that sharpened his perception of the world’s rhythms.
Davis felt his body hum with renewed vigor, the breakthrough to Level Five Empyrean Stage solidifying into a permanent elevation. His blonde hair settled gradually, yet the aura around him continued to climb, hinting at further ascent as the lake’s blessings lingered.
The Celestial Transcendent regarded him with an unreadable gaze, the vast clouds above trembling faintly in response to his bold declaration.
"That’s a foolish request. You of all people should know I wouldn’t be able to fulfill it."
Davis nodded, "Now that Malzor Hexadra has betrayed, aren’t you looking for a capable Realm Master?"
"You’re saying that I should put you up instead?"
"No."
The Celestial Transcendent chuckled lightly, "Then someone from your Davis Family who could turn into a Divergent at any time because of your nature?"
"Correct." Davis’s expression sharpened, "I said I want this realm, but we can do this by ourselves in due time. The true reward I want is for you to declare that the Davis Family is not a Divergent power and will not be targeted by the Heaven’s Warriors or anyone else under all the laws of the Celestial Transcendent Galaxy."
"You’re dreaming." The Celestial Transcendent suppressed the urge to laugh.
He knew the Divine Emperor of Death’s family was very united. If the Divergents were harmed, the non-Divergents would take up arms. There was no way to separate them.
Davis chuckled in response as he spread his hands again, "You saw what I did, right? Since the possibility of returning to a normal lifeform is not off the table, I intend to make myself and the others less of a Divergent as possible until they are no longer one. Even if I can’t, surely you wouldn’t want Myria to stay a Divergent?"
"..." The Celestial Transcendent’s expression quivered ever so lightly.
This bastard was appealing to his past tender emotions regarding little Myria. He had experienced a lot of tragedies in his life, and this was undoubtedly one of them, where he was unable to save a little child and could do nothing but look away after forcing the Exalts and above to not touch her by making it an opportunity for young Heaven’s Warriors and Divergent Hunters instead.
"It’s impossible." Still, he said with a firm gaze.
"I’ve already implored the heavens once to naturalize Divergents. It didn’t work."
"..."
Davis’s lips parted in shock, but he clenched his teeth, "You mustn’t have contributed enough yet, you lazy old grandpa."
"You-"
"Is that true?" Venerable Knight Lussandra suddenly appeared before them.
She had just witnessed all the changes in heaven and earth with a dumbfounded gaze. Unexpectedly, it was the sign of the arrival of the Golden Era that she had read from ancient records dated even before the era of the Sky Word Emperor.
The Divine Emperor of Death had really accomplished it!
Not only did he reverse the Desolate Era, but he brought about the Golden Era!
For the first time, she felt sure about what she thought earlier, to create a special place for Divergents to live peacefully, but this...
She gazed at the Celestial Transcendent firmly, wanting an answer.
The Celestial Transcendent put down his arm as he gazed at Venerable Knight Lussandra.
"Yes." He sent her a soul transmission, causing her heart to sink.
"It’s as that brat said. It’s impossible to naturalize Divergents without a great contribution like I did, stopping the invasion of the Primeval Universe Ruins back then, but it’s not like the heavens could just forgive them. It would bear their weight instead, getting injured for them. In the end, the price to pay would be too heavy, and as a result, their universe would end up in a great upheaval from external threats. You think if I didn’t understand its circumstances, I would be willingly following it instead of leaving long ago?"
He harrumphed before looking at Davis again, wanting to end this menace.
How complicated did he have to make this by showing the possibility of the other side that he felt was impossible?
He had never seen the universe move of its own volition, as it always followed the Heaven’s Will, for the universe was the heavens and vice versa.
There could be no difference between them as they were one entity!
On the other hand, Venerable Knight Lussandra’s gaze flickered.
She knew the Celestial Transcendent’s wish was to leave the universe so he could attempt a life-or-death breakthrough. He was too powerful to make a breakthrough within the universe, but she had never expected that it might harm the universe instead.
No wonder he stayed at his current level for so long.
Nonetheless, it seemed like all she needed was contributions, something more valuable than eliminating a Desolate Divergent.
Her brows creased.
Any logical being would see how hopeless it would be to get that kind of contribution, but she remained stubborn. She turned around and left.
"Where are you going?" The Celestial Transcendent asked her.
With the Divine Emperor of Death practically trapped here, unable to leave because he couldn’t abandon this savory tribulation nor run past their blockade easily, wasn’t this the best chance to capture him?
Why wasn’t she harping she wanted to eliminate him?
