Chapter 4994 Retracing Blood
Chapter 4994 Retracing Blood
Dawn Triad Upper Realm.
True Peak Emporium's Branch.
The giant building that had been half-destroyed had been repaired. It was even reconstructed and further reestablished with powerful and enduring Primarch Grade formations.
At this moment, a white-robed man appeared in the skies, slowly descending as he gazed at this building.
He noticed nothing peculiar except one thing.
On the fifth-floor balcony facing the street, there was a strange object. There was a transparent vase seemingly holding a severed head inside, its expression twisted with disbelief. It was such a gory and distasteful thing for a lawful and high-class merchant store to be displaying, but rumors had already spread about why this head was placed here.
Apparently, it was because the Demonic Merchant of Death, Jiayi Crystalveil, had killed her fiancé because he had tried to poison her and take advantage of her, even though she tried to annul the marriage formally.
Her reputation as a merchant was still high, but her reputation as a woman had taken a hit, causing her to become known as a fiancée-killer.
Instantly, the number of people trying to woo her seemed to have significantly reduced.
It wasn't the talk of the town but a talk of the realm.
The white-robed man smiled, seemingly amused by this scene.
He lifted up his hand, displaying his palm towards the True Peak Emporium, and performed a technique as he swirled his other hand, creating a vortex out of thin air that seemingly displayed scenes that weren't currently occurring.
Many individuals seemed to be working on the building, finishing construction, but they were all moving backwards, seemingly deconstructing.
This continued for some time before a scene appeared, containing two individuals.
It was a woman and a black-robed man.
The woman wore a luxurious gold-crimson robe.
Her long, lustrous crimson hair cascaded down her back like molten silk, bound at the crown with an ornate golden hairpiece adorned with dangling tassels that swayed faintly with her movement. She possessed refined brows arched above a pair of almond-shaped, jade-green eyes.
A fur mantle draped over her shoulders, adding an air of regal outlook. Yet despite her opulence, her expression was composed and vigilant, her senses active. She looked poised to attack, her expression brimming with a willingness for a challenge.
These two were none other than Anastasia Archus and an assassin who apparently targeted the Demonic Merchant of Death Jiayi Crystalveil.
*Bang!~*
The moment these two appeared, the vortex abruptly began shaking, and once the face of the assassin was slightly apparent, the vortex cracked and shattered like porcelain, causing something similar to a bracelet in the white-robed man's wrist to break, the motes of a crystal dispersing into the air.
The white-robed man turned to look back.
"Undoubtedly, this assassin is G'haren Bloodrain, a Grand Elder from the Blood Tempest Sovereign Lower Realm, but secretly a member of the Malevolent Blade Hall. However, there is no reason for your Spacetime Retracting Veil Technique to fail, right, Zest Hyluan?"
The man called Zest Hyluan possessed a head full of white hair and was dressed in a jade-green robe. He looked to be a middle-aged man with the refined demeanor of a scholar. He simply flicked his sleeves, appearing not to care about the killing intent emanating from the white-robed man before him.
"This suggests the presence of a strong faith interference ability, or simply a karmic legacy treasure these assassin organizations have to safeguard their assassins' location from being pinpointed, like the World's End Hall. I wouldn't put it past the Malevolent Blade Hall to have one, either, that they use when they decide to strike highly volatile targets like your granddaughter."
The white-robed man chuckled, "In your line of investigation, this is common, but how about mine?"
"A Divergent whose past and future couldn't be fathomed." Zest Hyluan calmly answered.
"I thought so."
The white-robed man went silent as he lowered his hand.
On the other hand, Zest Hyluan held his breath secretly, thinking it was not any day one can see the Celestial Transcendent brimming with killing intent.
Someone had finally touched one of his reverse scales.
He couldn't see the Malevolent Blade Hall surviving past this decade, even if they were to hide in the deepest parts of this galaxy.
"What do you think? Was this an attempt to kill Jiayi Crystalveil or your granddaughter?" Zest Hyluan prompted him.
"Jiayi… Jiayi…" Celestial Transcendent muttered, "If it's a Divergent, her connection with the Divine Emperor of Death makes it rather too obvious. I'm doubting if it's him or someone trying to take advantage of this connection."
"Divine Emperor of Death? At this time, wasn't he in the Six-Headed Hydra Upper Realm?"
"Indeed, he was, but he has completely disappeared without a trace, saved by a woman who was an Omega Exalt according to Realm Master Malzor Hexadra. He late said that with her strange treasure, she was even able to temporarily lift the restrictions space has on this layer."
Zest Hyluan's expression turned grim, "That's dangerous."
"Still," He narrowed his eyes, "You're suspecting the Divine Emperor of Death possessed G'haren Bloodrain? Haven't you investigated and confirmed that G'haren Bloodrain indeed did receive a mission to kill Jiayi Crystalveil?"
"Indeed, he did." The Celestial Transcendent turned to look at Zest Hyluan. "It's not easy to possess someone with the Blood Tempest Physique and other blood-attributed physiques since they more or less represent the peak of Human Will if they could reach the True Deity Stage. However, I wouldn't put it past the Divine Emperor of Death to be not capable of doing this. He even broke my Covenant. I suppose he manifested his Will and was able to destroy the Covenant without having to use only his soul."
The Celestial Transcendent narrowed his eyes, wondering how the Divine Emperor of Death had accomplished this.
Zest Hyluan looked taken aback, "Defeating through the method of Will, that's a first for your technique…"
However, he quickly shook his head, "But it doesn't make sense. Even if he possesses G'haren Bloodrain, how could he use the Blood Tempest Physique flawlessly? Didn't you say the Guardian protecting your granddaughter felt like he was witnessing the birth of a blood-attributed supreme talent? How could this statement correlate with the Divine Emperor of Death, whose abilities do not include the usage of Blood Laws? Even if he knows, he couldn't be that talented in it, could he?"
"…"
The Celestial Transcendent appeared to be thinking before he suddenly said.
"What if he didn't just possess but took absolute control? State of Divine Possession…"
"No way!" Zest Hyluan hurriedly denied with a wave of his hand.
That was the realm of human legends such as the Sky Word Emperor!
How could a junior achieve that within hundred years? He clenched his fist and growled, "Are you saying he reached Level Three Obscure Intent of Enigmatic Heart Laws!?"
The Celestial Transcendent remained calm, but his pupils glinted with solemness.
"He's an unprecedented anomaly, the first of his kind, a Desolate Divergent. What do you think?"
"…"
Zest Hyluan realized the implications and couldn't help but say with a somber tone, "Then that means he is even more of a disaster than we thought."
The Celestial Transcendent nodded lightly, "Go… let's go to the Virtuous Dawn Upper Realm and seek Little Jiayi Crystalveil in the True Peak Emporium to see what she has to say about this matter."
===========
"Second aunt!"
In another place, Anastasia Archus finally saw the awakened Felicia Archus and rushed towards her.
When one zoomed out of the room, the estate, and a floating continent, one could see it was none other than the Celestial Heaven Skypeak, the stronghold and the home of the ruler of the galaxy, the Celestial Transcendent.
