Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4919 Class Three

Chapter 4919  Class Three

"What is reincarnation?

The crimson-robed young woman's gaze swept across the small classroom. Though she appeared no older than twenty, the oppressive aura around her made even the air feel heavier. A faint, illusory image of blazing wings flickered behind her back.

A Burning Phoenix.

The children of the class sat in neat rows. They appeared to be nine years old, more or less, yet some bore the dignity of nobility, possessing significant presence among the other children. When their teacher's voice echoed, silence lingered, no one wanting to answer it.

Finally, a boy with emerald green eyes and golden hair raised his hand, "Isn't it when someone dies and is born again, Teacher Cornelia?"

"Indeed," Cornelia responded, her lips curling upward, "But it's not entirely right."

She walked between the desks, her crimson hem brushing the polished floor like flowing embers.

"Reincarnation is not merely death followed by birth. That is what mortals observe. What they do not see is the continuity of essence."

She lifted her hand.

A sphere of fire bloomed above her palm. It was gentle, controlled, and impossibly refined. Within the flame appeared the image of a small bird. It burned, turned to ash, and from those ashes, a new bird emerged, brighter than before.

Azalea's eyes widened with pride, "A phoenix…"

Cornelia nodded faintly.

"The phoenix is not reborn because it dies. It dies because it chooses rebirth."

The firebird dissolved into drifting motes.

"For ordinary beings, reincarnation is a cycle imposed by the laws of the heavens and the universe. The soul is cleansed, memories are stripped, and identity is washed away. What returns is a seed. It is pure, empty, ready to sprout again as a newborn, which is all of you."

"Teacher, you mean to say we lived different lives before?" Quentin asked.

"Indeed." Teacher Cornelia nodded, "This brings the about the discussion of truesoul, but we won't go into that now. For children like you, the hurdle in understanding is too great."

"Heh~"

Abruptly, a snicker echoed, causing everyone to look at a white-robed girl. Her robe was embroidered with pink flower metals and her amethyst eyes flickered with a carefree gaze, although her expression seemed lazy as she rested her head on her palm as she leaned on the desk.

"Little Lydia, do you think otherwise?" Teacher Cornelia raised her brows.

"No~"

Lydia extended out her tongue, her expression cute, "Teacher, I was daydreaming. Sorry~"

"You little…" Teacher Cornelia shook her head, but then sighed, knowing that they also had their considerations upon entering the Upper Realms.

She nodded, "It's good to realize your mistakes. Moving on-"

Teacher Cornelia continued with the class.

Lydia lowered her head, 'Well, that was close… but to think that I, the Phoenix Priestess of the Starshroud Family has to attend classes on reincarnation when I literally reincarnated myself…'

She inwardly pouted, feeling bound because she already knew a lot but was still forced to stay here, learning the most basic things taught to children. She had shown herself capable a few times, but still wasn't allowed into Class Two.

Either way, she figured that she couldn't enter Class Two since it was almost over for them, since they were going to turn eighteen.

'I want to go see Arc… wonder if he has managed to make progress in sensing the stars…?'

She entered daydreaming again.

However, she woke up out of her reverie and was surprised to learn about Teacher Cornelia's husband seemingly having died once as a Fire Phoenix and re-birthing to his original state as a Burning Phoenix during a failed tribulation.

She paid more attention to the class, becoming entranced in it until a commotion erupted behind her.

Even Teacher Cornelia gasped, her eyes wide with shock.

"Father!"

Azalea jumped off the desk and ran back, causing Lydia to instantly freeze.

Followed by Azalea- Quentin and Silvia also got out of their desks, making a commotion as they yelled out with joy.

"Hahaha. My children…"

Davis called out with love as he spread his arms out as he welcomed them. They jumped into his embrace, each trying to hang from his neck. He hugged the three of them heartily before he spotted three of his children who were still seated.

They were none other than Zyren, Eden, and Lydia.

Lydia stood up as she smiled awkwardly at him, but Zyren and Eden were still seated, their gazes to the front.

He turned to look at Zyren, "You three, come to father."

Zyren looked away slightly, "We're already bigger. No need to hug and make a commotion during class. It's unbecoming."

"What?" Davis gawked, "Your father has returned, but you're so nonchalant about it? Alright, I'll sell you to the Frostcloud Sword Empress as soon as possible."

"Really!?"

Zyren turned to look, his expression full of joy.

Davis's lips twitched, but he chuckled, knowing Zyren was happy that he returned and needed another reason to be outward about it.

"Welcome back, father." Zyren's lips curled, his gaze cold as though his eyes could pierce.

Davis nodded and let down the four children, but Azalea still wanted to be lifted up, causing him to take her. He then looked at the other little guy, who appeared mad rather than happy.

"What about you, Eden?" He asked.

Eden sat with his hands folded, his emerald eyes extremely cold. A moment later, his voice echoed out.

"Did you visit mother, father?"

"I will later." Davis uttered nonchalantly.

"…" Eden's eyes narrowed, "She's sick with an unknown illness."

"I know."

Davis said in an uncaring manner.

Eden's gaze flickered. He stood up and turned to look back. With steady steps, he walked and appeared in front of Davis, his gaze regal yet colder than the abyss.

His gaze was even colder than Zyren's, whose gaze was innately cold due to the sword physique.

"You don't deserve her."

Eden declared and ran past him, leaving the class, making Davis speechless. He then turned to look at Ancestor Cornelia and sent her a soul transmission to excuse the class, which she did.

"Your two brothers aren't cute at all. Would you not agree with me, Azalea?"

Davis lifted Azalea's chin as she gazed at her, causing her to pout, "Why won't you go meet mother Natalya? I also heard she was sick."

"It's not that I won't meet, but it isn't time yet. Aye, don't worry about it. Now that I'm back, mother Natalya will be healed."

"Mhm~" Azalea nodded, her voice resounding and brightening.

Davis pulled on her cheeks before turning to look at Lydia. He smiled at her and spread his other arm.

"What's wrong, Lydia? Do you also hate your father now?"

"…"

Lydia's cheeks twitched as she kept her smile.

Why would she… a grown woman inside… want to hug a father who was younger than her?
