Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4875 Intricacies Of The New Karmic Impersonation Technique

Chapter 4875  Intricacies Of The New Karmic Impersonation Technique

A black-robed figure landed on a rooftop.

He surveyed the street before him before gazing at the True Peak Emporium.

'Hmm, my target Jiayi Crystalveil should be here. Considering there should be no or little forces to aid her, this should be easy. Fortunately, I am here before any other assassin could make it heeeee!~'

Abruptly, he felt as though his soul was torn and his thoughts elongated into an infinite void. Other than managing to let out a single gasp, his voice was struck in his throat as he flinched and looked at the skies with a horrified expression.

At that moment, the hood came down, revealing his features.

It was a devilishly handsome middle-aged man with a pair of ruby eyes. He possessed a scar over the corner of his right eye and carried a strange crimson mark that resembled a water drop on his forehead. His crimson hair swayed out of the hood, and those dangerous ruby eyes glowed brightly before becoming dull. A few seconds later, they regained their clarity, but it was no longer one belonging to the original soul.

"Whoa, it actually succeeded on the first try…"

An unfamiliar voice echoed out of the black-robed man.

"Indeed, how mystical…" A voice emerged from beside.

The black-robed man turned to look at the empty space before him, but he could tell for a fact that there was another black-robed figure here, which was none other than himself. He could sense and feel, but his soul body's concealment was still top-tier.

"It takes a few seconds to take control while I go through the target's past. Fortunately, using this new method, I am able to block all unwanted memories and only focus on the needs. Saves me from my own soul being polluted."

"That's indeed great."

The black-robed man chuckled, "It seems like over five assassination organizations received a lump sum deposit to kill Jiayi Crystalveil at the same time, with the reward being three Mid-Level Primarch Grade Resources. This guy- called G'haren Bloodrain, is actually from the Blood Tempest Sovereign's Lower Realm. He's a Grand Elder-level character, but in truth is secretly a member of the Malevolent Blade Hall, which has quite the reputation around the central Upper Realms. It seems like he was here in the Dawn Triad Upper Realm for some vacation with his mistress, but suddenly got a mission to assassinate Jiayi Crystalveil."

Davis's soul body nodded, "Hmm, I didn't think the Malevolent Blade Hall was actually an Upper Realm power. But it makes sense considering they were an ancient power even in the First Haven World. Also-"

He chuckled, "You don't need to explain everything. What you came to know, I also came to know."

"Right…" The black-robed assassin's lips curled, "I'm completely G'haren Bloodrain right now. From the soul aura to my genetic composition, everything except the emotions is G'haren Bloodrain. Practically no one would be able to tell me apart from G'haren Bloodrain unless I mess it up by myself. Only those probably well-versed in Karma Laws at Level Three Quiddity or above and are aware of such intricate and concealed soul possessing arts, would be able to tell me apart. If I went and stood in front of G'haren Bloodrain's first wife, she wouldn't be able to tell me apart other than noticing the minor differences in our tone and way of doing things, but it would be very hard to recognize her husband as someone else since this is Karmic Impersonation."

"…" Davis went silent.

Just a while ago, he recalled Jiayi Crystalveil saying something about him harboring soul-violating methods.

He presumed this was even worse than that.

He had completely taken over G'haren Bloodrain, the latter's Will having shattered upon being struck by the State of Divine Possession's Karmic Impersonation Technique.

In other words, the person known as G'haren Bloodrain was dead, even if he was present in the realm of existence right now, located somewhere, deep within the soul or the Soul Quintessence. Right now, he was G'haren Bloodrain and G'haren Bloodrain was him.

Davis felt that this was a dangerous double-edged technique both to himself and the victim. He couldn't help but voice out, "If you stay as G'haren Bloodrain, I have no doubt you'll turn into him as well."

"Yes, but I imagine it is a bit different." G'haren Bloodrain's expression turned solemn, "To integrate oneself is to another is to assimilate. I will become one that is neither Davis nor G'haren Bloodrain, a new-mixed being who acts like Davis but enjoys or suffers through the life of G'haren Bloodrain."

"I see…" Davis understood, "We're already reaching different conclusions. Interesting…"

Right now, he was G'haren Bloodrain, and G'haren Bloodrain was him until assimilation occurs through higher-level karmic and fate assimilation ordained by the universe's general Laws that he had no idea about. He wasn't at a level where he could understand something like that.

Yet, he still felt some excitement about discovering new insights despite the risks because he intended to abandon the impersonation soon after the experiment was over.

More than anything-

G'haren Bloodrain raised his hand and brought his hands together while leaving a zone in between his palms. Crimson energy surged from his pores and gathered into a blood sphere, slowly spinning and circulating, even compressing.

"It seems like we hit the lottery. It is such a waste to discard this man who possesses the Blood Tempest Physique. Not only can we explore his Blood Laws, but we can also experiment to see if our Blood Laws insights work through his physique. I wonder what kind of terrifying mix of power we can bring about…"

"There's more to it than that." Davis shook his head, "I'm more worried about the future where he could counter our impersonation technique if you were to become a Primarch. After all, blood-soul is intricately tied in the Autarch Stage and above. Relying on his physique as a Primarch, he might've been able to save his soul's Will from completely shattering. He wouldn't have fallen prey to our technique then."

G'haren Bloodrain considered for a moment before nodding, "Yeah… it might be possible, although I doubt a person with a scrawny Will can make us exit through brute force from the difference in cultivation since our Will is already somewhere above the Exalt level. Still, I understand that this denotes that we need to work on strengthening this technique from being bypassed or overridden by the body's Will."

"Right, at the divinity level… the body and soul are not that different anymore, the two unifying more than ever on the abstract level, allowing both to regenerate each other, body to soul and soul to body." Davis sighed.

He stood up, patting G'haren Bloodrain, "Experiments aside, you know what you must do."

G'haren Bloodrain sighed, his mannerisms extremely similar to Davis, "Still, to kill a mere Level One Autarch who is ordinary among supreme geniuses, they placed a bounty of three Mid-Level Primarch Grade resources. That's crazy…"

He laughed ever so lightly, remembering his own bounty.

Back then, the Divine Emperor of Death's head had a bounty of a hundred billion Peak-Level Transcendent Crystals. This reward was supposed to be given out by the Divine Sentinel Order, but this was just the monetary reward alone. There were plenty of other rewards from the collective human galaxy. Excluding the Heaven's Warrior Organizations, all forty-eight Lower Realms were said to giveaway an Autarch Grade Treasure of varying levels.

However, in the past decade, this bounty had increased phenomenally, with his current bounty being three Peak-Level Primarch Grade resources, enough to fund a supreme genius's journey to the Absolute Primarch Stage.

He didn't know how it would increase now that he had entered the Empyrean Stage. Regardless, three Mid-Level Primarch Grade resources were still extremely high for just a merchant.

Davis shook his head, "That just goes to say how much Jiayi Crystalveil's influence and net worth have grown. After we all consume our resources in the upcoming years, Jiayi Crystalveil would be richer than us because she would have only herself to take care of and maybe her little brother."

"I guess so…"

G'haren Bloodrain walked off the rooftop as he descended to the street slowly, and made his way up.

He didn't directly target Fairy Retribution but baited her into striking him first by targeting Jiayi Crystalveil.

Within the blink of an eye, he reached out his hand.

He clenched the golden sword in between his index finger and middle finger, making it come to a complete stop as its momentum and sword intent were abruptly halted before the sword energy behind it dispersed. Crimson blood patterns appeared faintly across his hand and arm.

Although he had stopped it, it had sent shockwaves into his arm, cutting into the bones and meridians, causing internal bleeding.

However, the arm's internal structure quickly mended itself. Blood circulated, repairing and healing the bones and meridians in an instant without using much energy, an effective status of receiving no damage.

'This assassin…' Fairy Retribution's pupils dilated, 'A Level Five Autarch with a prowess that's six levels higher? How can such a supreme genius be in these backwaters and act as an assassin? Another one from the World's End Hall? But how could they be all concentrated here?'

She twisted her sword, causing Davis's fingers to be cut despite the blood carapace covering his fingers, and then she swung her sword, trying to slice off his head.
