Chapter 4645: Spindle’s Abilities
Chapter 4645: Spindle’s Abilities
Silence reigned in the balcony box of the unit.
Alinna had frozen when Davis touched her. She simply couldn’t say anything since she had frozen in fear.
On the other hand, Davis took back his hand and momentarily looked at Alinna in a daze.
’She is still there... Did she take over my body in return? Did she see my memories? Or was this something that only I had just experienced because of the spindle after accessing her scarlet bundle...?’
Numerous questions flashed through Davis’s mind.
He couldn’t see any strangeness within Alinna’s gaze nor her emotions. Her mentality was stable, other than her fear towards him, which was quite normal for nearly all people who thought of him as a calamity incarnate.
Even if he didn’t release any aura, it was inevitable they would assume the worst and self-inflict fear.
That was the strength of the rumors flying around. Good or bad, it had the effect he needed, keeping people away from him, allowing him to remain free of staining his hand with the blood of others for the most part.
From his Heart Intent, Davis garnered that Alinna didn’t even realize her life was exposed to him. She didn’t seem like she lost control of her body either, so it was just him momentarily thinking that he was her?
Davis became incredibly confused before he looked at the spindle again.
’Scarlet Destiny Spindle... destiny... scarlet...?’
He gazed at the thread that slowly dispersed to his shock. He narrowed his eyes, thinking about the previous few seconds as well as Fallen Heaven’s explanation of the spindle’s abilities.
’One of its powers is Karmic Cocoon, which spins karmic threads into protective wards that repel curses, karmic attacks, and backlashes from divinations. This explains why Tia’s Karmic Guardian Physique would resonate with this treasure...’
’Its second power is... Luck Siphon. It can actually siphon off luck from a lifeform by a minute amount, grafting it on the user for a short period of time. This is very strange... I don’t think I have ever robbed luck. The only thing I seized in the past was karmic sin and karmic virtue. Neither ensures an increase in luck... so karmic luck is clearly a different aspect...’
’Finally, its third ability is Destiny Peering. It allows the user to look into their destiny, which is the end of a prime point in their life, whether good or bad. It could even be used to get rid of archenemies, enemies who are fated, just like how there are a few people who have a fated red thread.’
’Strange.’ After recollecting, Davis frowned, ’None of these abilities actually corresponds to the scarlet bundle I saw. This treasure reacted with my Karmic Sight and allowed me to see that scarlet bundle, which contained memories, which seemed like... an amalgamation of one’s identity...’
’Yes...!’ Davis’s eyes widened, ’"This is almost like karmic impersonation, but I am able to interact and peer through memories in a first-person perspective as though I am them. Could it be... I’m stealing their identity...?’
Once he arrived at this conclusion, his pupils dilated as he gazed at the spindle with shock.
The implications he felt were terrifying, making Davis nearly break character and yell out to the heavens.
He could only wonder what the owner of this treasure was up to.
’Perhaps... this is not a power of the Scarlet Destiny Spindle but an ability that activated after coming into my possession and triggering my Karmic Sight. Yes, I already knew a few aspects of karma, such as Karmic Impersonation and Karmic Seizing, which coincided with Destiny Peering. The insights behind them must’ve reacted to the treasure and allowed me to see the scarlet bundle, after which I curiously approached it and was able to plunder her identity for a moment...’
Davis kept nodding to himself as he tried to figure out the line of events.
He cast his gaze again at Alinna and knew that range must also be important, other than possessing the scarlet thread of the Scarlet Destiny Spindle. Otherwise, the new ability wouldn’t have triggered.
’The range is no more than a meter, and the energy required is judgment soul force or karmic soul force.’
Once he deduced this level, Davis inwardly sighed and obediently stashed the Scarlet Destiny Spindle inside his spatial ring before it could create more anomalies in him. In his opinion, a karma-attributed treasure was quite scary since the unpredictability was quite high. If it had not been broken, then the range and the experience might’ve been even weirder.
Davis then intentionally took a step back and gestured, "You have determination in your eyes, and the splendid intention to protect is also high. Were you a sword cultivator?"
"..."
Alinna only now reacted, standing at attention as she nodded her head, "I’m still a sword cultivator. However, my sword arts can’t compare to the true supreme geniuses who have come here. I still have a long way to go."
"Good. My thirteenth wife, Tanya, is a sword cultivator. How about you come under her tutelage and earn a lot by working for my family? The pay is way better than one would expect. How about it? Are you interested?"
Davis asked, but before she could answer, he continued, "There’s no need to hurry. You can answer when we’re about to leave. Other than that, as long as you don’t disturb others, we’re good. There’s no need to be afraid all the time."
He advised, but didn’t let the apologetic tone appear in his voice.
Turning around, he left, leaving behind a dazed Alinna who couldn’t tell what had happened.
Was the Divine Emperor of Death about to make a move on her, but quickly changed his mind? She inwardly sighed, thanking the heavens.
After receiving his commands, she faithfully stood in the hallway and patiently thought about his words. The Divine Emperor of Death had transacted many resources and had even paid for the auction without batting an eyelid. This was on the level of a tycoon, so Alinna was forced to accept that he wouldn’t renege on his words.
Davis went into Shirley’s room, smiling at her.
But before he could even begin his romantic gestures, Alinna appeared behind the door and transmitted through the formation stone.
"Your eminence, someone is requesting a private exchange."
Davis paused his actions and turned to look back. He returned his gaze to Shirley and helplessly smiled.
Soon, he walked out and faced the visitor who wanted to do a private exchange.
