Chapter 3787 Desert Space Border Town
Chapter 3787 Desert Space Border Town
Evelynn and Zenova Artoria alighted the stolen battleship. They wore a new set of black robes to hide their identities.
With a wave of their hand, the battleship returned to their spatial ring. They didn't want to leave any trace. The people at the docking area didn't find it to be strange either, as there wasn't enough space to keep all the ships docked, and one had to take it back into their spatial ring or pay a hefty sum to keep it docked.
However, some people looked at them with wide eyes.
It seemed like they recognized the ship's owner, but they seemed to be indifferent...?
Even then, they didn't make a fuss and only displayed a thumbs-up as they passed through.
Evelynn understood that this was a dog-eat-dog world.
No one cared that a bandit died, all seemingly part of nature's course. Perhaps the only one who would care would be that bandit leader's remaining crew. But who knew where they were?
However, she had to admit that the living standards here were brutal. Nothing was in order or looked proper. Many places were in ruin. Even the people had some of their limbs missing or carried various marks on their bodies as though surviving a great battle to live and tell the tale. Their breathing was also ragged, as though they were plagued with sickness.
She didn't know if their sickness had a chance to spread, but most sicknesses in the cultivation world were due to their own cultivation deficiencies. That was not something to worry about unless one indulged in bodily relations with them, as their impure energy could corrupt one's own.
Evelynn had rarely traveled to places like this, but to see the reality of the world widened her horizons.
While they walked, some fights took place between two bandit groups over stolen goods that were stolen again.
A mere black robe wouldn't let them go scot-free from trouble even though this is a standard wear to indicate that they don't want to communicate without having to say it. After all, to those who want to seek treasures, gambling with such black-robed people was the best way to earn wealth or earn a one-way ticket to the reincarnation cycle.
Fortunately, they managed to get near the exit of the Desert Space Border Town without encountering much trouble.
"Ah, you two there. Would you like to leave for Arail Town?"
"How about Farnos Town?"
"Is your destination the Prialmence City?
A group of people came to them and asked since they approached a few transport ships waiting to fly out to towns.
"Respected individuals, would you like to travel in our transport ship?"
However, another person appeared in front of them at this moment.
He wore a blue robe and had a gentle expression on his face. Combined with his scholarly facial features, he would have no trouble posing as a good-natured man in a neighborhood. However, the scar on his lips curving above and stopping below the eye told another story.
When the others looked at him, their expressions sank in annoyance as though knowing they would fail to acquire the customer before they left.
"Forgive me, but I can tell that you're new here. However, there's no need to worry since we're protected by the Desert Space Bandit Hive, which means we wouldn't get robbed by anyone during the journey unless someone wants to court death."
Seeing that they were still silent, he offered with eloquence something rarely seen in this bandit town.
Evelynn and Zenova Artoria looked at each other, communicating through soul transmission.
"Was it called the Highnode Town in the information?"
"Yes. Either that or the Revera Town, although I suspect if we head there, we will get caught by Heaven's Warriors. There was a piece of information stating that there was a Peak-Level Sovereign there, including two more Heaven's Warriors. I'm not sure if the blonde-hair, purple-eyed Heaven's Warrior we're looking for is one of them."
"There shouldn't be much to worry about if our hidden aura doesn't suddenly show up."
"Alright."
Zenova Artoria said, causing Evelynn to nod.
The former then returned her gaze to the blue-robed man and opened her mouth.
"Do you have a Star Map of the Eternal Twilight Lower Realm?"
"Of course."
The blue-robed man looked momentarily taken aback by the melodious voice, but he quickly put on a professional front and answered, taking out a jade slip.
"It costs a hundred thousand High-Level Transcendent Crystals."
Zenova Artoria spoke, "Ten thousand."
"That's too low." The blue-robed man shook his head, "Let's meet in the middle. Fifty thousand."
"Thirty thousand."
Zenova Artoria's voice was indifferent.
"Deal."
The blue-robed man handed over the jade slip, and Zenova Artoria sent him thirty thousand High-Level Transcendent Crystals with a wave of her hand.
"…"
Evelynn watched this scene. The man started with a hundred thousand but came down to thirty thousand...? And the way the man said 'deal', it was as though he made a huge profit. Besides, why did Zenova Artoria haggle when she had billions?
She couldn't help but look at her with some questions when a soul transmission fell on her mind.
"The point of haggling was not to get it for a lower price. It was to say that we're dirt poor for Sovereigns and don't possess much status."
Zenova Artoria's amused voice echoed, "You're such a Young Mistress if you can't figure that out."
Evelynn looked away.
'Well, I was indeed a good-for-nothing Young Mistress of the Cauldon Family…'
She could remember that she barely had any social skills, and she was always kept in her family because she was the fiancee of the Crown Prince of the Loret Empire. She couldn't be sullied and so was protected like she was some ancestral treasure rather than human.
She was angry at that time over such a restriction, but that all changed when she saw his cute visage that came to court her. She realized that there was no point holding that anger against a youngster only to eventually fall in love with him deeply.
Nonetheless, the two of them checked the jade slip repeatedly before deciding.
"Take us to the Great Desolate Plains in the Northern Lands."
"Hmm? There's nothing there other than wild beasts. Are you sure you want to go there?"
"…"
Receiving no reply, the man nodded.
"Alright. There is one transport ship heading that way two hours later. After taking a long arc, it will leave you in the Highnode Town, where you can stock up on supplies if you are to venture there, so it's up to you two to make it to the Great Desolate Plains."
"That's alright."
"But can't it leave any sooner?"
"My apologies. Passengers have yet to fill. Besides, the Highnode Town is the last stop, so-"
"How many seats are left? How much does one seat cost?"
"There are around eighty seats left, and one seat costs around two hundred thousand Transcendent Crystals per stop, so for you two, the Highnode Town is six stops away, and that would be two million and four hundred thousand Mid-Level Transcendent Crystals."
"What?" Zenova Artoria looked unamused, "How many days would it take?"
"It would take twenty-five days to reach the Highnode Town."
"…"
