Chapter 3217 An Imploring Prisoner?
Chapter 3217 An Imploring Prisoner?
Davis heard an imploring voice from behind, causing him to be stunned as he didn't expect the enraged rabbit to have some clarity. After all, with how furious it was in attacking him, he could tell that the anger it displayed didn't even seem to be directed at him, making him think it was vindictive and berserk, but it turned out it could reclaim its mental state somehow.
However, just because it shouted, he didn't stop.
It would be foolish of him to let his guard down as he was well aware one swipe that went through his body would mean the death of his fleshly body even if he could escape with his soul.
"Stop! Please…!"
It screamed with an imploring voice, causing Davis's lips to curl.
"If you stop the chase, I'll stop."
His voice fell on the giant rabbit's droopy ears. Its eyes flickered as it came to a stop, and only then did Davis turn around and stop, looking at the rabbit that was hundreds of kilometers away. This was a wide distance that couldn't be reached in an instant, giving him ample time to remain careful of his surroundings.
"Speak." He uttered.
"You… you're an Anarchic Divergent, aren't you? I know you're an Anarchic Divergent since you're in possession of three heavenly attributes and don't seem to be a Heaven's Warrior since you exude no such venerable aura."
"Is that supposed to be a compliment?"
Davis titled his head in question, causing the rabbit to shake its head.
"I… forgive me."
Hearing the rabbit's melodiously apologetic voice, Davis didn't know what to say.
Was this a different rabbit than the one that crazily attacked him?
It was so furious, but now, it was soft, perhaps trying to butter up to him, although he knew why since it seemed to have some kind of request.
"What? Do you want me to release you from the seals binding you or something? Sorry, but that's impossible since the chains binding you are almost at the Empyrean Grade."
Davis spoke in a straightforward manner, shaking his head.
His eyes had also seen through its karmic nature. It was not only the rabbit, as he had seen through the dragon and the serpent as well.
He already sneaked in a few looks at them through his karmic vision, so he did confirm they had a lot of karmic sin, second-tier karmic sin around the thirty-meter height, so it was clear they committed mass slaughter of some kind. Although he was wary, he didn't judge them based on that since he was also a slaughterer who massacred for the safety of his people while also seeking vengeance.
The same could be said about these prisoners, so he didn't go as far as to paint them as complete evil fiends.
They were about to die anyway and were hunting the geniuses, including him, so he didn't go out of his way to see them for who they were, not that he was capable of releasing them in the first place.
"You are an Anarchic Divergent. Forgive my rudeness, but I don't expect pity or sympathy from you."
The rabbit suddenly did a one-eighty again, its voice turning solemn.
"I'm a Lunar Blackclaw Rabbit, born in the Ivory Moon Sanctuary Lower Realm. Twenty thousand years ago, my Lunarisse Empire fell from the invasion of the Vacuous Beasts. I was a royal guard who protected the Empress at that time. However, we ended up separating because I had to stay to kill some people who tried to take advantage of the situation. One thing happened after another before I finally ended up killing a treasured disciple from the Forgeheart Peak Upper Realm, so I was captured and imprisoned for all this while."
"…"
Davis narrowed his eyes, knowing that Fairy Nila, who helped him a bit, was from the Ivory Moon Sanctuary Lower Realm.
Nonetheless, made a face as though asking what it wanted him to do when he got an inkling.
"No-"
"Please help protect the Empress of my Lunarisse Empire. If you do, I will tell you where the entire treasury of my Lunarisse Empire is. Do as you see fit with it, and all I ask for you is to free the Lunarisse Empress from the clutches of anyone who might have her imprisoned."
"To beg for help from an Anarchic Divergent, you're quite desperate, huh."
Davis's lips twitched.
Twenty thousand years ago? He wouldn't be surprised if that Empress began a whole new family already or turned into a bag of bones.
"I would even beg a demon if it meant my Empress could be saved."
The Lunar Blackclaw Rabbit responded firmly, causing Davis to be speechless.
So he was a demon in its eyes?
"You would ask of me to save your Empress no matter the state? Even if she forgets her regal status and is living a fruitful life with a new Emperor, perhaps a peasant?"
Davis posed a question as he appeared amused. Unexpectedly, the rabbit appeared quite stupefied, unable to produce an answer. It was only ten seconds later that it shook its head and answered.
"In that case, please leave my Empress alone. As for the treasury, it would still belong to you."
"Sounds…" Davis was unimpressed, "… good, but how would you know if the treasury is still in an unearthed state?"
"The fact that I'm still alive and not weak signifies that the treasury is still unopened. If you don't believe me, then I'll commit suicide right now to allow you to harvest my flesh and organs as a form of compensation."
"…"
Davis's eyes widened as he saw the rabbit bow its head. It was a creature that was already on all fours, so it made sure to twist its neck all the way down to display that it was pleading but, more than that, willing to stake its life.
It would eventually die. Its life was worth nothing, but its flesh, blood, and organs were totally another thing, worth billions of High-Level Immortal Crystals. For a peak Immortal Emperor existence like it that was only a little away from the Empyrean Stage, their value was extremely high such that they would be touted as pillars no matter where they went.
That was what he garnered from the plundered memories, but such a being was willing to commit suicide and leave the remains as compensation.
He could not find fault even if he searched for a way out as he felt that this was a drag.
After all, he could imagine a future where he would be running all the time. Where would he get the time to save a damsel in distress in a random part of the true immortal world with who knows where she was?
Nonetheless, if a royal guard like this rabbit was near the Empyrean Stage, then the Emperor would've been in the Empyrean Stage. For such an existence to fall, his lips curled as he knew what kind of event took place.
'A Void Class Calamity… huh..'
A Void Class Calamity is a calamity that occurs anywhere in the three layers of space within the Three-Layered Universe, ranging from an exploding star to a freezing ice star or even a devouring spatial vortex like a spacequake.
Further than that was a Realm Class Calamity, and the end of a realm like the current realm they were in is classified as such.
Nonetheless, he knew Vacuous Beasts at Empyrean Stage also appeared, but there were not many. If even one of them appeared, it would be considered a Void Class Calamity, and he could understand that the Lunarisse Emperor fell to such a beast, causing his empire to be destroyed.
"Why me? You were ready to slice me apart, weren't you?"
Davis asked in an annoyed tone.
He really didn't want to go on a side quest as he didn't have time nor the motivation to do so even if the treasures that he could obtain compensated for it.
"I mistook you for those hateful humans but now, I know you cannot even be considered a human because you're an Anarchic Divergent who can alter destinies. If the heavens don't side with us, then I have no choice but to rely on a demon like you."
"Figures…"
Davis chuckled. This rabbit was too sincere but didn't know that it could offend him with those insensitive words. Still, he lightly nodded.
"I can do it, but I won't promise that I will do anything about it, for I have my own matters to take care of."
"Not a problem."
The Lunar Blackclaw Rabbit raised its head and smiled lightly, "Thank you. Whatever you may have in mind, I wish you good luck~"
It raised its hand, drawing a map on its own rabbit skin, which Davis memorized, although he couldn't understand the head or tail of it. Once the rabbit saw Davis had memorized it, it didn't even heal the wound back with its vitality, bringing the same claw it used to carve up to its forehead as it pointed, appearing to be almost inches away from stabbing itself.
Its giant red eyes widened as it pushed its blade-like nail into its forehead, intending to commit suicide.
