Chapter 2778 Invisible Struggles
Chapter 2778 Invisible Struggles
Upon hearing Davis's question, many leaders couldn't help but raise their brows while many youths turned stiff.
They had just witnessed his physical prowess. If they had to fight against it, wouldn't they be squashed into surrender?
However, they quickly relaxed and even smiled like they were looking at a fool, feeling confident in the other battles.
The Zyrus Family Patriarch also turned to glance at Mo Tian while possessing an amused expression on his face.
"You're an outsider and are currently pursued on suspicion of being an Anarchic Divergent, not to mention currently restrained for killing our Young Master Candidate. If it were not for this event, you would be in a cellar, so know your place and stay put."
"I already said what needs to be said. Don't keep framing me just because your Young Master Candidate Klein Zyrus was weak enough to die to Dead End, and if isn't for this event which will allow me to prove my innocence, I wouldn't be here!"
Davis shamelessly enunciated his innocence, sounding aggrieved. His expression and actions were so authentic that many couldn't tell what was the truth anymore. After all, if he was truly an Anarchic Divergent and the killer of Klein Zyrus, it made no sense for him to be here.
They agreed with him the only reason he was here was to use his talent as leverage to attract other powers to protect him and settle this matter once and for all. This kind of thinking made sense to them, not allowing them to see through his true intentions.
Indeed, in truth, Davis had entered the Grand Zyrus City to assassinate his targets using Mo Tian as a cover, but upon hearing about this event from the guard vaguely, he changed his mind on the spot. He was flexible enough to go with the flow but, at the same time, did not enter without an end goal in his mind.
"I'm also part of the younger generation as denoted by the age formation that scanned me before. Therefore, people would be laughing at you all for not allowing me to display my prowess."
Davis shrugged, continuing, "Still, who cares if I get to battle this weak younger generation or not? They're all basically ants in my eyes anyway."
"Arrogant!"
"Retarded!"
"Elders, get him on the stage. We'll show him that he can't open his mouth without thinking of the consequences first."
Many youths began to clamor at Mo Tian's pure arrogance. They had heard that he was arrogant before, but now faced with that arrogance, their ego exploded, disallowing him to sit on top of them without a battle.
With the younger generation easily falling for his bait, the elders shook their heads. However, even if they explained, would the younger generation be able to accept this result? There would always remain a question in their hearts whether they were truly the best, even if compared to Mo Tian, making them form a demon heart that might rattle them in the future.
Considering this worry, the leaders contemplated, even looking at each other as they began to form an opinion from discussion through soul transmission.
Ultimately, everything was relayed to the Zyrus Family Patriarch as the leaders formed a consensus, causing the Zyrus Family Patriarch to frown.
He couldn't believe that they had agreed for him to participate, causing him to sigh.
"Mo Tian, you're in luck as the founding powers of this alliance decided to allow you to battle."
"An inevitable decision."
Mo Tian smirked, taking a cup of spirit water from the table before him and gulping it down like a champion.
This action made many eyes twitch, but the Zyrus Family Patriarch remained smiling.
"However, there is also a condition imposed upon you. You can only choose to represent one power for a single time, meaning if you battled in five segments, then you would have to choose to represent one power in each segment. However, you cannot choose the same power again."
Davis closed one of his eyes, "In other words, if I want to participate in all five battles available for non-inheritor youths, then I should be representing five powers in total?"
"Indeed."
The Zyrus Family Patriarch nodded, causing him to return the nod.
"Very well. For the first battle segment, I chose to represent-"
"Don't be so hasty."
Suddenly, an indifferent voice interrupted Davis, "We are willing to gift you treasures of Peak Immortal King Grade to represent us, so it would be wise for you to choose based on that."
Davis raised his brows at the Bloodcloud Family Patriarch before blinking his eyes. They were going to give him treasures? From arresting him to giving out treasures? How can there be such a twist?
'Oh... is this a plan to separate me from the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan by luring me with treasures...?'
Davis lightly smiled, feeling that it was not bad, making him further think that this should be a result of his actions concerning the auctioned spots for immortal crystals in the Void Dust Secret Realm. His supposed weakness, which was wealth, was being targeted here.
But unfortunately, he, an ultra-rich immortal, wouldn't even be swayed by an Immortal Emperor Grade Treasure, much less a Peak-Level Immortal King Grade Treasure.
Moreover, to be exact, they were targeting the Starlight Jade Wolf King here and not him.
'The first round of internal struggle is already inbound without the alliance not even having completely formed yet...'
Davis's smile was slightly wry, as though he was feeling embarrassed.
"Don't worry. No matter whom you choose, we won't hold it against you as bidders."
The Cyan Soul Rat Patriarch cackled, also reducing him to something like an object, a treasure that he merely bid upon.
"I understand. I'll reserve my choice until it is the moment for me to battle."
"Very good."
Davis replied in a diplomatic tone, causing the Cyan Soul Rat Clan's Patriarch to heavily nod his head while glancing at the Starlight Jade Wolf King. However, despite the provocation, the Starlight Jade Wolf King remained at rest, appearing completely oblivious to the things happening around him.
Indeed, he was thrown out or, rather, ignored in the discussion of what to do with Mo Tian. Therefore, he didn't have a say in what Mo Tian could and could not do.
Nonetheless, the battle formats were shuffled and inserted into a mystery box in the form of jade slips. As the Zyrus Family Patriarch took out the first jade slip from the virtue as the host, he displayed the battle format to everyone, projecting it in the air.
[Two-on-two]
With the battle format being decided, the guests couldn't help but start to cheer, expecting the first participants to rise to the stage.
However, no one took the stage, causing the guests to become silent soon enough as though they didn't expect this uninvolvement.
"What's wrong? Is everyone afraid that they would be unable to keep up with the challenges?"
At this moment, Mo Tian's voice provocatively resounded, causing the leaders of every power to glare at him.

How were these challenges going to decide the winner? That's decided by the number of wins they could achieve on the stage before they ran out of energy, so the later they started, the better their chances. After all, whoever was on the stage was going to be continuously challenged until they lost or surrendered. There was no going back to rest.
Besides, they needed to also reserve their true geniuses for the other battle segments that would take place after this segment, so it could be said that they were all contemplative and hesitant about who they should send.
This decision was of the utmost importance as it concerned the fate of their powers. They couldn't make a mistake, or that would cost them the other segments as well, causing them to lose votes which would lead them to become a near-subordinate power in the alliance. The leaders were essentially playing a game of four-dimensional chess at this moment.
"Junior, shut your mouth. No one is going to team up with you because of the suspicion that you're an Anarchic Divergent."
The head of an unknown power that owned a Province scoffed at Mo Tian.
"Yet you would like me to win for your power? What kind of logic is that is beyond me."
"You- You dare talk to me like this, the Patriarch of the Moon Purging Sect?"
That black-robed person stood up and pointed at Mo Tian, appearing furious.
Davis also stood up, appearing to want to fight. However, he suddenly sat back as he turned to look at the Starlight Jade Wolf King as the latter's force dragged him down to sit, causing him to blink.
"Moon Purging Sect's Patriarch, if you're that confident, then send your youths to battle my family's younger generation."
Abruptly, two people jumped onto the stage at the same time the Starlight Jade Wolf King finished his sentence.
They were not the immortal inheritors of the Starlight Jade Wolf Clan but two women clad in dark green robes who seemed to be twins as they possessed the same eyes and even the same hairstyle that one could mistake them for avatars if it weren't for the different kind of fey aura emerging out of them.
