Diary of a Dead Wizard

Chapter 839: The Diary Cheat Method Returns

The soul hidden in the black branch in Saul’s hand naturally belonged to Kate.

Kate’s life experiences could be considered rich and colorful.

He had been human, been a cat, been a mermaid, and now was even being a plant.

However, the black branch in Saul’s hand was actually the shell of a demonic creature. Kate was just temporarily staying inside, helping the future true soul vessel adapt to the soul space within the branch.

Simply put, he was warming the bed.

And this seemingly pitch-black, unremarkable-looking branch with a rough feel wasn’t as ordinary as its appearance suggested.

It was Saul’s fusion of part of Little Algae’s tentacles, Black Sea Tree branches, Inverted Tree branches, mermaid royal bloodline, and most importantly—the bloodline inherited from Water God Floco’s descendants.

With the help of several consciousness bodies and Floco, Saul successfully fused these rare and advanced materials together in less than half a month.

But simple fusion definitely wouldn’t work.

What to add first, what to add next, what bonding agent to use, what method to use for bonding—all would affect the final product’s effectiveness.

And the materials in Saul’s hands could only undergo fusion once. If it failed, it would be basically impossible to separate the materials through reverse reactions.

Therefore, after many years, Saul once again employed the cheating method he’d used during his apprentice period.

Ask the diary!

He was no longer the small apprentice from years ago who lacked knowledge reserves and had an unstable soul body, who even after successfully using the diary for wizard body transformation, didn’t understand the principles involved.

So Saul didn’t need to worry about being unable to master knowledge experimented through the diary.

He was just using the diary to reduce costs.

The current diary could not only predict his death lines but also those of people around him, so Saul used the diary for predictions based on the premise that Kate’s soul could safely survive in the black branch.

After consuming several pages, the final product left both Saul and Kate very satisfied.

However, Kate hadn’t expected that he wouldn’t be satisfied for long before frequently suffering Saul’s torment.

Saul told Kate that this spinning training was to help Kate better adapt to a plant body while maintaining his soul body’s vitality.

Lest he forget what it felt like to be an animal after being a plant too long.

Kate originally wanted to say: I don’t believe your nonsense.

But over time, he discovered Saul’s physical shaking method was indeed useful, truly allowing his soul to maintain basic activity even inside an immobile plant.

“Don’t worry, you can’t vomit now—you don’t have that organ.”

Despite saying this, Saul still placed the black branch on the table, letting Kate rest a moment.

He continued reading with his head down, maintaining this position until evening before standing up.

After standing, Saul put branch-Kate back in his sleeve and walked toward the door.

Tonight he was going out.

A few days ago, Royer had sent word, asking Saul to go out tonight to pick a flower called Moonlight Mani.

Moonlight Mani was a rare magical material, a specialty of Evernight Empire. It could improve blood-type magic success rates and reduce plasma coagulation possibilities.

But Moonlight Mani currently couldn’t be artificially cultivated. Its main component flowers would deactivate within an hour of being picked, so whenever this material was needed, Royer would make temporary trips to gather it.

This time, to help Sander’s brother Harry refuse bloodlines, Royer specifically invited Saul to pick Moonlight Mani together.

So when the time came today, Saul stopped his closed-door experiments, brought Little Algae and branch-Kate, and left the temporary residence where he’d stayed nearly ten days.

But what surprised Saul was that when he met Royer at the palace side gate, Alfonso actually appeared here too.

“How did you come?” Saul looked at Alfonso, then at Royer, feeling like he’d been caught betraying someone.

Alfonso looked resentfully at both of them. “Have you both completely given up on treating mermaids?”

Saul had already calmed down. “The research has indeed hit a bottleneck. If transmission methods can’t be eliminated, no amount of treatment is useless.”

Royer felt no embarrassment about being caught poaching people, still smiling. “Alfonso, you’re not here to drag Saul back, are you?”

As a result, when he asked, Alfonso’s expression became even more dejected.

He said in a muffled voice, “Lord Frim said that with black tides approaching, I should first cooperate with Royer on Red Sea Tree issues.”

Royer’s face was full of smugness. “Haha, it seems the Chief also recognizes my plan more!”

Royer directly pulled Alfonso onto the carriage. “Then let’s go. We’re going to pick Moonlight Mani today anyway, and with you here we can pick more.”

Alfonso made a last struggle.

“Although I’m going with you, I still think modifying the entire mermaid population again is a wrong choice.”

Royer was already used to Alfonso’s stubborn, rigid nature. Hearing this, he didn’t argue with him, called Saul to get in the car, then headed to the teleportation array.

Moonlight Mani grew in the deep desert, where various terrifying demonic creatures lived. Without third-rank wizards leading, ordinary people wouldn’t dare approach.

To go there, they first needed to take a teleportation array to the desert’s outer layer, then fly into the desert.

Once outside Evernight Royal City, they could fly freely.

While Saul’s group went out under cover of night, Stuart the wizard from Black Flame finally saw his emperor again after nearly ten days.

Seeing that Elo had no changes about him, Stuart’s anxious heart finally settled.

“Did you reach some agreement with the Tribunal Chief?” As Elo’s closest subordinate and friend, Stuart asked without reservation.

Normally they should have departed for Black Flame after the black tide conference, but ever since Emperor Elo and Chief Frim had a small conflict last time, they had remained in Evernight.

Black Flame Emperor Elo strode to the palace’s main seat and sat down, sighing deeply.

“Sigh… Do you know what that Frim fellow wants to do again?”

Stuart looked quite calm. “The Tribunal Chief is naturally someone who does great things.”

Elo glanced at him and spat out a sentence.

“He wants to kill Gorsa.”

Stuart immediately stepped forward. “Is Nephret going to formally declare war on Iskaper?”

Gorsa was now the Glare Family’s designated fourth-rank successor. Killing Gorsa would basically mean declaring war on Glare.

Moreover, both the Stargate Council and Tribunal ostensibly had two fourth-rank wizards each. They would never want to fall behind in fourth-rank wizard numbers after Glare’s patriarch died.

If Chief Frim wanted to kill Gorsa, it would be like formally declaring war on the Stargate Council!

Black Flame Emperor rubbed his forehead like an ordinary person.

Or rather, he was the most ordinary-person-like among all current fourth-rank wizards in the wizard world.

He even had a wife and children.

“Because he doesn’t want to go to war with Stargate, he wants me to cooperate with him in secretly killing Gorsa. Initially his tone was unpleasant, so I had a small conflict with him that day at the conference.”

Stuart was puzzled. “Why is Chief Frim so obsessed with killing Gorsa? I remember you saying that when Gorsa was still second-rank, Chief Frim had already hinted for subordinates to find ways to secretly eliminate him?”

Elo was silent for a moment before saying, “Because Gorsa plans to explore the Abyssal Eye after advancing to fourth-rank.”
