Chapter 4258: No Belief
Chapter 4258: No Belief
Soul Gem was having a great time together with Fila. The two put all those years they had been alone behind them and had been enjoying each other even now. In the thousands of years after the twins’ group returned, they also had children, three of them.
Of course, Soul Gem still helped with the management of the Universe, and although they have their differences, he still worked with Tuana of the Vruve Organization. She was the one left behind to be the leader of the Lisan Universe, after all. And he was the one who gave the idea.
At the moment, Soul Gem was on his way back from the Vruve Organization when suddenly...
’SOUL GEM!’
"Ah!" Soul Gem almost stumbled before he stopped. Of course, he recognized those voices. He looked around, angry. "Why do you need to shout into my head! What is it? Where are you guys?"
Rean was the one to talk after that. ’You helped Default rebuild the system with a fake Control Orb and Sister Orb as the system itself.’
Soul Gem was even more confused. "Obviously. Why are you mentioning that? You were there when Master and I helped you with it."
’We are having an issue here, you know? Let me tell you about it.’ Then, Rean explained about the events that transpired in the Celestial Plane.
Soul Gem, as well as everyone who should be aware of it, already knows the twins went to the Celestial Plane. So it didn’t surprise Soul Gem that the twins were already there, especially when they mentioned that Default helped them.
Other things surprised him, though, like the fact that the twins’ group could talk to him even though they were in the Celestial Plane. Rean didn’t explain how they could do it, and insisted that Soul Gem should focus on the Destiny Attraction part.
"Alright, I’ll leave aside this communication ability of yours for now..." Soul Gem said. "As for the Destiny Attraction, that was indeed a built-in ability of the system to help its host develop faster. It constantly brought challenges in their path, and it served its purpose very well. Just look at how fast you four reached the peak of the Great Void."
"However..." Soul Gem stopped for a moment, narrowing his eyes. "I don’t remember this being the case for the new Orb System. Rean, you were there and accompanied the process as well. There shouldn’t be anything like that inside the Orb System. The fact that Sister Orb herself can’t tell if it exists should be proof of that. How can she, the system itself, not know what she can do? After all, she knows how to use every single other ability she gained, doesn’t she?"
Rean and the others narrowed their eyes. ’Are you telling us that what just happened was nothing but a mere coincidence?’
"I’m not saying that..." Soul Gem shook his head. "What I’m saying is that I truly didn’t see master doing it. Perhaps he did put it there without we knowing? I highly doubt he did such a thing, though."
’Why are you so certain?’ Roan asked this time.
"Simple, Master doesn’t have anything to gain from it," Soul Gem explained. "Our Great Void is safe, and with the tear in space gone, Master is the only one who can interact with The Echo as well. You don’t have any weird apocalyptic mission to carry out anymore, either. Why would master do something to antagonize the four of you?"
Soul Gem, obviously, still didn’t know the twins’ group actually had control over The Echo. Nonetheless, his reasoning was sound. Default and the other Primordial Demon Beasts must always return to the Vinx Great Void at some point. Once Default returned, he would have to answer to the twins, and he would be powerless in front of them.
At that moment, Rean thought of something. ’So it is unlikely that Default put it there, uh? Alright, Soul Gem. Thanks for answering. Goodbye.’
"Wait! I have a lot of things to ask you..." Soul Gem shouted, but the twins’ group presence was already gone. "That’s just rude!"
---
Back in the Celestial Plane, everyone waited for Rean to speak.
’It is not guaranteed that Default doesn’t have a hand in this,’ Rean started. ’However, if we leave him aside, what else could have changed the Orb System?’
Roan, Kentucky, and Celis didn’t need to think much to get the answer. ’The Echo that mixed with us.’
’Correct,’ Rean confirmed. ’Default created the self-evolving system. Default was always able to use The Echo, even if to a limited extent. He obviously had to use some of it to create the system. Considering the previous system had this Destiny Attraction bullshit, couldn’t the changes that happened be the reason why we have this problem again? Maybe we are the ones who attract destiny exactly because our previous system could do it. Who can say it isn’t us who inherited this shit?’
’It is possible,’ Roan agreed.
’Once again, I might be wrong here,’ Rean pointed out.
’And...’ Kentucky also didn’t forget. ’It truly, really, although almost impossible to believe, think that it could have been nothing more than a coincidence.’
Celis, Rean, and Roan went silent again. They had become so accustomed to the problems the Destiny Attraction caused them that the mere thought of coincidences seemed an impossibility in itself.
[So... do you at least believe I am not the culprit? I have no reason to cause trouble for you all, you know? I, too, want a little bit more peace now that we are here. Well, you are. I’m still in the Vinx Great Void, although I can see everything you see, so I’m fine with that for now.]
’So be it. We can’t discard the possibility it was made that way, or that we are the ones with it,’ Roan said.
Rean sighed and gave up. ’For now, let’s just pretend we were extremely unlucky. Who knows? Perhaps it will generate good karma now that we prevented a hidden Godly Creature from trying anything inside our region.’
Somehow, they truly didn’t believe that at all.
