Chapter 4234: Quite a Surprise
Chapter 4234: Quite a Surprise
Kentucky was the first one. The pentagonal device initially gave all five colors at once, but Corpar seemed fine with that. Then, the lights began to turn off. "It checks for all five aptitudes at once, and when it deems you to not have one of them, its color turns off. Yellow was the first, so you obviously don’t have yellow aptitude."
Kentucky nodded and saw how the Red Color and the Purple Colors also turned off not long after. That left him with the Gray Color and the Golden Color. Finally, the Golden Color also turned off, and that left Kentucky with the Gray Color in the end.
"Wow... I have the lowest aptitude?" Kentucky couldn’t help but ask. Could it be that everything he did in the Great Void wasn’t enough to get a simple Yellow Color?
Actually, Corpar himself was also surprised to see that. "That’s unexpected. I thought that someone capable of using Weapon Intents in the Celestial Plane was bound to have a very high aptitu-"
Yet, he suddenly stopped his words, as the Gray Color aptitude also turned off before he took the device back. "Not Gray Color either?"
Kentucky and the others looked at Corpar. "What does that mean?"
Corpar was completely lost, though. "I... don’t know. The result says this demon bird doesn’t fit in any of the categories. I’ve been an official here for many years already, and this is the first time I’ve seen this."
Rean and Roan looked at each other. Back then, in the Sunkan Planet, their aptitude colors turned out to be Dark and Light, colors that didn’t exist in humans of that planet. Could it be the same thing here? Perhaps this device simply doesn’t have the capability of showing rare aptitudes.
"Does that change anything for us?" Celis asked next.
Corpar pondered a bit. "Let me check the rest of you first. Is that okay?"
Everyone nodded, and Corpar tried Celis, Rean, and Roan. Sure enough, they didn’t fit any of the five colors of aptitude either. "So weird..."
"Once again, is it a bad thing for us?" Celis insisted.
"Neither one?" Corpar pondered a bit. "You see, the aptitude is related to your future achievements. You will gain more from the organizations you join if you have higher aptitudes, no doubt. But since you don’t have anyway... I can’t even tell if you would be accepted in any organization whatsoever."
Roan didn’t think it was a bad thing. "So be it. First of all, it is not like we are obligated to join someone, is it?"
"Well... no, you are not..." and Corpar confirmed. "But it is almost unheard of that new ascenders don’t join anyone. Don’t worry, though. Once I pass over the news for the organizations overseeing this buffer zone, I’m certain some of them will be very interested after they hear you can use Weapon Intents. Perhaps it is even more attractive than a high aptitude color."
"There is no need," Roan had other plans. "Could you please keep the Weapon Intent part out of your report? We will fare better if we are on our own."
"This..." Corpar looked at the other device where he was inputting the information. "Sorry, but it is part of my contract to report everything as I see it. If it is found that I lied in the report, that will be pretty bad for me. It is nothing personal."
Roan wondered if they should just try to flee from there. But considering the backlash and the fact that they are at the very first cultivation realm of the Celestial Plane, it didn’t seem a very feasible plan. "Alright. What can we expect, then?"
"Once your aclimatization is concluded, you will be teleported outside of the Buffer Zone, in the area we call the New Arrival Hub. Everyone there will be a representative of the various organizations of our region. They will look into the reports regarding you and decide if it is worth fighting to recruit you. As I mentioned, everyone wants ascenders, so there is bound to be some coming for you. I just can’t predict how it will go because you have no aptitude but can use Weapon Intents."
Roan gave up thinking about it. They could only deal with it once they stepped out. Instead, he decided to ask more about the region they find themselves in at the moment.
The Buffer Zone itself can’t be found in any region, but the place it connected to after the aclimatization was called Besgol. That was only the name of the region, with more than thirty countries in it. The New Arrival Hub was located in Clifatio Country, a country that was actually jointly controlled by the other countries of this region. After all, this was where the New Arrival Hub existed.
Initially, the system here didn’t change much from the normal system in the Great Void. You had your countries, the powers that controlled each of them, and these kinds of things. However, the similarities stopped there.
From what Corpar said, each region, at least in the area he lives, is just a tiny, tiny pocket hidden within gigantic areas of uninhabited land, oceans, etc. He even gave an example. "Let’s pretend that all the countries in the Besgol Region occupy a hundred kilometers of space. The area where we hardly venture in around Besgol occupies millions of kilometers."
"That’s strange. There sure must be some cities in between this region and the next one, no? Even if they are rare." Kentucky asked.
"There aren’t," Corpar explained. "You must understand one thing. The Celestial Plane is not in our hands, and by our hands, I mean the cultivators, demon beasts, spirits, angels, devils, and all the other races you came to know in your Great Void. Instead, it is dominated by the Godly Creatures."
That was the first time they heard that one. "Godly Creatures? What are those?"
Corpar thought for a moment. "Better than explaining, you should take a look yourself. Once you are out and decide where to go, try to pass by the Godly Subjugation Guild. There are various branches of this guild in all countries. They always keep one or two of these creatures there. You are in for quite a surprise."
