Chapter 4231: A Thousandth
Chapter 4231: A Thousandth
As mentioned before, you could enter the Celestial Plane from one place in the Great Void and come out in another if you moved inside the Celestial Plane to another region. That meant each region of the Great Void would be connected to a specific area of the Celestial Plane. Above all, since the twins’ group was ascending from the same location, they would also appear in the same area up there.
However, the region they appeared in wasn’t what they expected at first.
"Four at once? That’s quite rare," a voice suddenly said.
"Ah!" Rean, Roan, Celis, and Kentucky immediately regained their consciousness. They looked around and noticed they weren’t the only ones there. If anything, there were a few experts around, all of them in a similar situation.
Under their feet, the twins’ group saw a green diagram, which was hard to say if it was some kind of formation or anything else. Perhaps it was a natural formation of some sort.
Once again, that wasn’t the only one. There were tens of thousands more of the same diagram on the ground all around them. The vast majority of those diagrams were empty, but a few, as just mentioned, had experts on them. Some were unconscious, others seemed to have just woken up in the same way the twins’ group did.
"Can you look here, please?" The same voice spoke again.
The twins’ group’s eyes turned in the direction of the voice, and only then did they see who was talking to them. Was that a clam? It certainly looked like one, although it was almost a meter in size, and it was open. The voice came from the pearl or whatever was the round thing inside the clam. Not only that, it used energy to project a face on it.
They could see the clam controlling the Celestial Energy to work on some device floating in front of it. Then, Rean finally spoke. "H-Hello, sir. Sorry for ignoring you. That was not our intention. It’s just that this is our first time here. Where are we?"
The clam nodded slightly with its entire body. "Don’t worry about that. Everyone who wakes up here in the buffer zone is always more or less lost. Few are those who have experience. First, let me introduce myself. I’m Corpar, one of the Buffer Zone registration officials. So, how did you do it? The Vinx Great Void has never had more than one ascender at once, let alone four."
"Vinx?" They looked at the clam, Corpar. "Sorry, sir. Does that mean our Great Void is called Vinx?"
Corpar narrowed his eyes. "That’s weird. Usually, everyone who ascends at least has some idea of what they are related to."
Corpar didn’t dwell on it for much longer, though. "Oh well, whatever. I’ll start from the beginning."
Turns out that the twins’ group was right. Their Great Void was known as the Vinx Great Void. According to Corpar, every single green diagram on the ground was a receiver of ascenders, and each one of them was connected to a different Great Void.
This is only one of countless other Buffer Zones, but all the Buffer Zones didn’t have diagrams for all the Great Voids. Instead, they only had the diagrams connected to the Great Voids closest to that area of the Celestial Plane. That said, the tens of thousands of Green Diagrams on the ground that the twins’ group was seeing were almost nothing compared to the total in existence.
Asking Corpar how many Great Voids there were in total, he only answered that no one knew for certain. There were more Great Voids than there were stars in all the Universes of a Great Void, his words. The twins’ group had heard something about ’their Home Great Void,’ so they knew there were more than just one. Yet, the number of them seemed a lot higher than they expected.
Another thing the twins’ group found about was that, depending on the region from which they ascended from their Great Void, they would end up in a specific Buffer Zone.
They felt quite lucky. If they had made their ascension back in the Lisan Universe, chances were they would have appeared in the Buffer Zone where the Werdlem Empire existed. After all, the Lisan Universe was very close to the Werdlem Empire. However, because they had left to see Default, they ended up ascending somewhere else. They were in a completely different Buffer Zone now.
One might wonder what a Buffer Zone was, and the twins’ group was no different, so they asked that too. The Buffer Zones aren’t completely in the Celestial Plane yet. One could say they were the ’edges’ of the Celestial Plane. According to Corpar’s own words, it was a place for newcomers to get acclimatized to the Celestial Plane’s differences.
They had their bodies rebuilt, but there were supposed to still be some remains of their Great Void that they call Great Void Impurities. The Buffer Zone would automatically get rid of the ’impurities’ in the next few hours, and they would be allowed to move into the Celestial Plane for real.
"Really?" Rean and the others were curious. "We don’t feel anything different, though."
Corpar smiled. "Is that so? Why don’t you come down from your Transfer Array?"
"Array?" Rean looked down. "Isn’t it called a Formation?"
Corpar corrected him. "That was likely what you called them back in your Great Void. In the Celestial Plane, they are called Arrays. Yours was quite a bad choice, if you ask me. Don’t you get confused between the Formations like the one below you and the battle formations used by groups of experts during fights?"
"Well..." Rean had to admit Corpar had a point. "Alright, so they are not formations, they are Arrays. Got it."
"Let’s get down." Roan wasn’t interested in the arrays at the moment and wanted to see why Corpar told them to leave their Green Array.
Kentucky, Celis, and Rean nodded at Roan, and the four of them left theirs.
*Zuom!*
As soon as they stepped out of that green Transfer Array, their souls were assaulted by a terrible feeling. They all wobbled right and left, eventually falling onto their butts. They couldn’t even think straight.
"Wow... this is quite the trip..."
Corpar laughed in response. "Hahaha! That’s what happens when you still have Great Void Impurities in you. Be happy that you are in a Buffer Zone, where the effects are reduced to a thousandth of the real deal. Had you been in the Celestial Plane for real, you might have just dropped dead straight away."
