Chapter 3981: Not Too Hard
Chapter 3981: Not Too Hard
Entering the storm, the twins’ group immediately felt the power of the Future Realm acting on them. A few short illusions of possible futures started to walk in different directions, just like they did back when Rean used the Temporal Resistance Spire.
They didn’t move straight away, though. Instead, Roan threw them a pill each. Which pill? Obviously, the Temporal Harmonization one he learned how to concoct when they first arrived in the Riquicious Empire. He even improved the pill with his abilities, herbs, and the new equipment he got from Trulerga.
The twins’ group wasn’t the only one using that pill. Pretty much everyone there had this same pill, aware of the help it provided. It helped to synchronize the user’s internal flow of energy with accelerated or distorted temporal environments.
Thanks to that, the number of possible futures decreased drastically since everyone would make fewer mistakes moving forward. For the twins’ group, it was even better since they could use Time Power.
"Okay, let’s go!" Roan commanded, and they shot forward. Except for the very few Divinity Realm experts, the majority wouldn’t be able to keep up anyway.
They weren’t in a hurry to pass the test, though. What they wanted was to get to some empty space and change back to their real forms. After all, their identities as Qufis Experts wouldn’t be of much use later on.
Time accelerated and slowed in different parts of their bodies, making it hard to move forward. Fortunately, they could force their way through it, even though it also caused mental fatigue. The pill also provided extra relief.
The illusions of possible futures only lasted a second at first. But as they moved further inside, that began to change. After the first hour, those half-real bodies were moving away for three or four seconds before disappearing.
*Kabrum!*
*Ugh...*
Suddenly, one of them was struck by those Silver Lightning Bolts, causing Foliana to grunt.
"Are you okay?" Rean asked. He checked her body with his Divine Sense, and sure enough, there was some damage on her meridians, even though she wasn’t really the one hit by the lightning.
’Life Style, Instant Recovery!’
Rean didn’t think twice and used his healing skill on her. Yet, to his surprise, his Light Element wasn’t able to do anything. Instead, it was disappearing in thin air. "This... what is happening?"
Roan noticed that and stopped for a moment, gathering his Dark Element. Just like Rean’s Light Element, his Dark Element also disappeared shortly after. No, it was more like it was entering some different dimension and disappearing inside. "So that’s how it is."
Foliana and the others looked at him. "What?"
Roan stopped trying to use his Dark Element. "There are possible futures that are taking a half-real form. The opposite can also happen when it comes to our abilities. Our elements are turning into possible futures and disappearing, just like the illusions."
Foliana took a deep breath and focused her Divine Energy to try to heal herself. Fortunately, it worked this time. It’s just that she didn’t know any healing abilities, so she could only use this crude method. "I’m able to heal myself at least, but it will take some time."
Roan saw that coming. "Yes, if it is something you did for your own good and kept within your own body, then it won’t be disrupted. The Future Realm’s power only acts if you are trying to bring your powers outside your body."
Tanxan and Foliana understood. Different from Rean, Roan, and Kentucky, they wouldn’t be able to heal themselves straight away. The best they could do was to cross this temporal storm. "Let’s not waste time then."
Another hour or so went by, and Roan stopped for a moment, looking around with his Divine Sense. "This should be enough. Divine Sense is highly disrupted here, so no one will see our change."
After more than two hours moving forward, their illusions of possible futures were hit by a few more Silver Lightning Bolts. However, it wasn’t anything they couldn’t deal with, especially the twins, who could heal straight away.
Rean’s Body Transformation Technique was deactivated, and everyone’s bodies changed back to their original forms. He also touched Tanxan and Foliana, changing their bodies back, too. Following that, they suppressed their cultivation to the Space-Bending Realm, now assuming their previous identities as members of the Runia Continent.
"How are you two holding up?" Rean asked Foliana and Tanxan.
"We are fine," Tanxan assured. "If things become difficult, we can simply slow down. The illusions of possible futures are only being hit by the Silver Lightning Bolts because we are forcing our way forward too fast, nonstop. We aren’t having enough time to get used to the interference of the Future Realm, which increases as we move further inside; that’s all."
"We can slow down then," Roan said. "We are already pretty far ahead, and we should be able to cross it soon. It won’t make a difference if we cross the storm wall in two or twenty hours, as long as we manage to do it."
"Thank you," Foliana said, sighing in relief. Tanxan’s possible future illusions were being hit more than hers, but he seemed to be able to cope with the damage much better. Of course, that was likely due to Tanxan’s race. He didn’t have things like meridians, organs, and such. He was pretty much a slime with a core.
They departed once again, but at slower speeds this time. Some of the Space-Time Realm experts would pass by them, surprised to see that bunch of Space-Bending Realm experts that far. Nonetheless, they didn’t do anything. Everyone already noticed that whatever kind of power they try to bring out of their body simply disappears, so attacking others was a waste of time.
The power of the lightning bolts increased, and the possible future illusions even more so. Roan’s pill helped a lot to the point that only one illusion appeared for each of them at the same time. However, two of such illusions began to come out of their actions after they travelled for over three hours.
Three hours in, and those illusions lasted 5 seconds. Four hours, and they lasted seven seconds. Then five and eight, and finally, by the sixth hour, there were four or five of those possible future illusions each time, each illusion lasting up to ten seconds before disappearing.
They had nothing to complain about, though. Other experts, who weren’t as proficient as the twins’ group and didn’t have Roan’s pills, were having to deal with even more of those illusions. The only experts in front of the twins’ group at the moment were those in the Divinity Realm, and that’s because Rean and Roan wanted to give Foliana and Tanxan time to adapt.
"Hum?" Kentucky noticed something. "The environment is changing far ahead."
It took a little bit more for the twins’ group to see it, but they were able to confirm Kentucky’s words. "Is that the other side of the spatial storm wall?"
Roan checked the time, nodding. "We have been moving forward for six hours already. Not to mention, the illusions are already lasting this long, so we must be at the very end. At our speed, it is only to be expected. Otherwise, it would be meaningless to send experts in the Space-Bending Realm into the Future Realm since 32 hours definitely wouldn’t be enough for them. I reckon most of those in the Space Bending and Elemental Space Realms who make it through the wall will do so quite close to the time limit."
"Well, they can only count on themselves," Rean said. "Let’s go take a look."
