Death… And Me

Chapter 3861: Changing Plans

Chapter 3861: Changing Plans

"Stop right there!" The kid couldn’t take it anymore. He was a proud son of the City Lord, and yet, here he was, hearing someone calling him Chicken. "Seems like I will have to put you in your place! Lando, rent a private arena for the two of us. I’ll show him who is the Chicken!"

Lando was obviously the name of the kid’s guardian. ’Young Master Trian, you could just ignore him. You two are obviously not at the same level.’

’Enough,’ Trian didn’t care. ’I will never back down on a challenge! Also, this is going to be a private arena, so no one will see anything.’

Donfug obviously didn’t hear that Divine Sense conversation, simply taking that situation as the squabbling of two kids. "Sorry for bothering you two, friend. I’ll bring him away. Rean, this is an order. Come with me."

"Y-Yes... Senior Donfug..." Rean obviously had to pretend to be under the effects of the contract.

Too bad Trian wouldn’t back down anymore. "There is no need! He is strong, isn’t he? I’m strong too! Let us fight in the private arena. It is very cheap for cultivators at our level anyway."

Rean turned to Donfug. "This is my chance, Senior Donfug! I will prove to you I’m strong enough to protect you in the future! That kid will be easy!"𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

Donfug was about to refuse when Lando joined. "Donfug, right? It is okay. Let’s leave it up to the kids to resolve. It is also a good opportunity for their future training, don’t you think? I’ll pay for the arena." He obviously didn’t want that, but he had to obey Trian.

Donfug pondered a bit, and with a little help from Rean’s Soul Power, he ended up agreeing. "Fine, but no lasting injuries, is that okay? They are just kids with entire futures ahead of them."

"Absolutely!" Lando agreed. "I wouldn’t want anything else either. We can even act as judges, both of us."

Donfug shook his head in response. "The arena has the right personnel for these kinds of things, so let them do their job."

Finally, Rean and Trian left and went to another arena. As mentioned, this one was quite small and cheap. That’s because Rean and Trian’s cultivation was too small, so they couldn’t cause much damage anyway. Well... Rean could wipe out this city, but he wouldn’t do that.

Soon, an expert working for the arena arrived after the payment for the services went through. Seeing the two kids, he was actually satisfied. At least this job would be easy.

Then, he selected a few options on his CD, and the arena’s formation closed, leaving only him, Rean, and Trian inside. "Alright, I see here that no weapons are allowed. Additionally, you are prohibited from killing or causing lasting damage to one another. I will intervene myself if you break the rules set by your seniors outside. You can start."

Immediately, Trian’s cultivation was released. Normally, kids receive their Divine Werdlem Stone around the age of five. That was the case for Rean and Roan back in F956, so how could it be any different for the son of a City Lord? Trian has already been cultivating for five years.

He also received the proper training, so the City Lord didn’t just let him rush his cultivation. Had the City Lord let Trian loose, Trian could have been in the Nascent Soul Realm already. Obviously, that was not the case, and Trian was still in the Peak Stage of the Core Formation Realm. Yet, his proper training made him significantly stronger than the vast majority of kids his age, even those with higher cultivations. Roan would definitely approve of the City Lord’s methods if he were here.

Outside, Donfug shook his head. ’Sure enough, Peak Core Formation Realm. That is quite high for a kid of that age. He most likely has some good background.’

’As for Rean, he only started cultivating almost two months ago after I gave him the Divine Werdlem Stone. Thanks to his talent, he has already reached the Peak Stage of the Foundation Establishment Realm. Yet, he will definitely lose pretty badly since he is an entire cultivation realm below. Oh well, that is also good. Rean was too hasty and brazen. This will serve as a lesson for his future.’

Donfug had obviously noticed the difference in cultivation even before the kids decided to fight each other. The only reason he let it happen was the safety guaranteed by the arena judge, and that it would help Rean grow more cautious in the future. It was a good investment in his eyes.

"Hahaha!" Trian pointed at Rean. "You spoke all that, and you are only in the Foundation Establishment Realm?! Seems like I will have to show you just how bad you are!"

Rean, however, showed a mocking expression, purposely trying to provoke Trian. He could teach Trian a lesson, but if he overwhelmed the poor kid while being an entire cultivation realm below, it would be way too ridiculous. ’Well, let’s pretend it will be a close call. I need this kid to think he could have won, or we probably won’t ever meet again. Today, we start a very healthy rivalry.’

"Shut your mouth! Just because you have a higher cultivation, that doesn’t mean you know how to use it correctly! Let me show you the results of all my training!" Rean spoke childishly, darting forward!

"Hmph! Then let me put you in your place!" Trian didn’t back down and followed.

Several arrows of fire appeared around Trian, all of them shooting at once against Rean.

That made Donfug’s eyes open in surprise, knowing with that one move that Trian definitely wasn’t just any Core Formation Realm kid. ’Who is he?’

The judge narrowed his eyes, noticing the same thing. The cultivation difference was already big, and after seeing Trian’s opening move, he was ready to go save Rean’s life.

Well, that wasn’t necessary.

Rean followed with a very similar attack, although they were Light Arrows instead of Fire ones. They all shot at the same time, colliding with Trian’s attacks.

*Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom...*

Rean and Trian’s attacks caused several small blasts of Divine Energy, forcing the kids away from each other. Both sides looked impressed by what happened. Of course, that was only the start, and they quickly resumed their fight.

’What?!’ Lando was shocked now. ’How can he match Trian’s strength?’ He looked at Donfug, expecting to see something.

Yet, what Lando saw was an even more shocked Donfug. "Holy shit! How did Rean do that?!"

Lando wanted to cry... ’What do you mean? That’s your kid! How come you don’t know your own kid’s strength?!’

In the arena, Rean and Trian exchanged a few more long-range elemental attacks. The explosions followed, but neither side gained any advantage.

Trian grew more impatient, and he changed his approach. Divine Energy accumulated in his arms and legs as Wind and Fire Element followed. The Wind Element increased his speed, and the Fire Element created a kind of Fire Sword on his arm. The kid truly had some talent and could already control two elements, although his main affinity was still fire. "You are good at long range, but what about up close?"

Rean looked furious. "Do you think I can’t fight up close? Then look how I beat you! Also, stop copying me!"

He also ran forward, but he kept using only Light Element. The Light Element accumulated on his hand, and he created a Light Sword of his own.

*Clash!*

The two arms covered in Fire and Light Element met in the center, once again, neither side gaining an advantage. Both of them pushed forward with all they had in a context of raw strength.

But then, finally, the balance was broken.

Rean moved his Light Element Covered arm to the side, rotating his body, and sending a kick out!

*Bang!*

Trian was hit on the chin, making him grow dizzy for a moment. Rean obviously didn’t waste that moment, punching Trian’s belly and sending him flying... or so it should have been the case.

Surprisingly, Trian was able to recover in time, using his other hand to send a counter.

’Oh! Not bad!’ Rean was actually amazed Trian managed to steady himself so quick, mentally smiling and letting the counter land on his face on purpose. He had intended to win this fight, but now he had another idea.

*Bang, bang!*

Rean wasn’t willing to continue that fight forever, though. So, he added a little bit of his Soul Power into his last punch, making sure Trian wouldn’t have the strength to get up again.

As for himself, he pretended the counter Trian used was enough to knock him down, too!

Just like that, Rean and Trian fell to the ground and couldn’t move anymore, even though they seemed to be trying to get up.

"It is over!" The judge proclaimed. "This fight has ended in a draw!"
