Chapter 3829: Cargin
Chapter 3829: Cargin
Rean and Roan looked at each other. It was like when the Celestial Soul System speaks to them, but different. A good analogy would be that the Celestial Soul System uses a certain frequency to talk, and this other message was trying to attune to that frequency so the twins could hear it as well.
[This is too... *Bzzz...*]
Little by little, the message stabilized, and the interference disappeared.
[Ah, ah, ah... testing, testing, one, two, three... can you hear me?]
For a moment, they wondered if the voice was trying to prepare for a show on a stage or some shit like that. Regardless, in the same way the twins communicated with Sister Orb, they followed that connection with the voice to answer.
’We can hear you. Who... what are you?’ Roan asked.
[You can hear me! Finally!]
The voice seemed elated.
[My name is Cargin. Your system seems to have absorbed a shard of my own system, and thanks to that, I detected your presence and managed to connect to you.]
Kentucky obviously couldn’t hear any of that, so he had to rely on the twins to know what was happening. "So... that system name is Cargin?"
Surprisingly, Cargin heard that question. [That’s not my system’s name. That is my own name. I’m the owner of the Emotional System. As the name implies, my system worked through the manipulation of emotions.]
The Twins’ System worked with Destiny before, so it wasn’t surprising that other systems used other methods.
The twins’ group was even more puzzled, though. But fortunately, Cargin was ready to explain.
[Alright, to make things simple, I died. Because of my despair back then, my system went haywire and got corrupted. It transformed into something that purged bad emotions from everyone’s minds.]
The twins finally saw the picture. When the Celestial Soul System absorbed the Corrupted System’s Shard, it mentioned that the Corrupted System’s Owner had died, and that was the reason for the corruption.
"Alright, that much we already know," Roan commented. "But... if you died, how come you are talking to us?"
[This was my last resort. The day I was betrayed and killed, I sent the remaining of my soul into my system core. I spent countless years here, healing my own soul over time.]
That sounded extremely familiar to the twins’ group. Didn’t Soul Gem do exactly the same thing? His soul stayed inside the Control Orb for many years, ultimately recovering and coming out.
[However, even after I recovered... well... I wasn’t my system’s owner anymore. I lost control over it, and my soul is basically stuck inside. I have pretty much kept myself in a hibernation state, waiting for something to change. Now, here you are!]
Roan narrowed his eyes. "I’ll make one thing clear. We are here to take away this Corrupted System. Once we touch that core, it will be absorbed."
[Great!] Cargin was actually happy to hear that. [As long as you do that, my soul will be released. I couldn’t ask for anything better! Thank you! Now, go ahead! Do it!]
Rean scratched the back of his head. "Well, friend... things aren’t that simple. You need to understand the situation."
Then, Rean gave a quick explanation of the events that led to this moment. Fortunately, since Cargin could use that connection the twins used to talk with their own system, he was able to convey everything in a few minutes. "And that’s basically it."
[Things truly changed while I was out, uh?] There was a tone of melancholy behind Cargin’s voice. [I fought so hard, and it was all for nothing in the end. This Universe D33, or, to be more specific, Fritchu Universe, was my home. Now, I probably wouldn’t even recognize it anymore. I wonder why I fought so hard at all...]
The twins were a little skeptical about this guy. From the moment his voice appeared, he already knew they had a system of their own. That wasn’t a secret that could be shared easily. So... would it be a good idea to help him? But then again, they couldn’t hide something that had already been discovered.
[Whatever... I did what I could, and since the residents of this Universe betrayed me, they can only blame themselves for what it became in the end. I don’t want to get involved in this shit anymore.]
Rean then pointed ahead. "Alright, we would end up helping you once we take away your system. But... with Kunprio there, that will be a near impossible task."
[Do you mean this Vulcan Race Spirit?] Cargin asked back. Since his soul was inside the core, he obviously could tell Kunprio was there, near him. [Yes, I can see it. This guy has the traits of a Universe Owner. So he was the one who took this position... Well, there were probably others in the past, but it doesn’t matter now. Instead, let me help you.]
"Help us?" Roan found it strange. "Didn’t you just say you were powerless to do anything?"
[Until a few years ago, that was indeed the case, but not now, and I have to thank you guys for that. You see, that shard you took from my system actually created a breach I could use. I can now exert a little bit of influence. This Kunprio guy seems to be using Celestial Laws and his Universe Owner’s abilities to cheat my Emotional System and use a little bit of Divine Energy and all that. I can’t stop him... but I sure can make it so you guys also can use some of your Divine Energy and other powers. How about that? It will be very similar to this Spirit and his companion.]
That looked as good as they could get.
"One thing," Rean decided to ask. "For some reason, we can’t access our own System here. Can you make it so we can?"
[Sorry, that’s beyond my powers. My Emotional System is rejecting yours, so I can’t make it happen.]
"Fine," Roan nodded. "Go ahead, release our powers."
[On it!]
Immediately, Rean, Roan, and Kentucky felt their Divine Origin Energy circulate again. Even better, they could access their Sky Energy as well. It’s just that it was a very small amount, just like Cargin said it would be. Regardless of what could happen afterwards, the main priority now was to absorb the Corrupted System, and that was their best chance.
"Alright, let’s go!"
