Chapter 3753: Banishing Light
Chapter 3753: Banishing Light
"You didn’t... know?" That sounded quite ridiculous in Tarie and her companions’ minds. "How can you be in the Space-Time Realm and not know about the shadows? No, forget about your cultivation realm. Everyone knows that the Light of the Provider imprisons them behind the fabric of space. No one tries to open the space exactly because of what happened."
Well, Rean wasn’t everyone. He literally just got to this Universe. How could he know such a thing existed? Of course, since all the Devils had this weird trusting mind, he decided he might as well speak some nonsense again. "I think it is because we’re still suffering the side effects from the Untreated Dark Element. It must have affected our memory. Lady Tarie, friends, how can we compensate you for my mistake? We managed to prevent the problem from escalating, but it was still our fault for starting it."
Tarie’s mood improved with the apology, not a single sign of doubt on her face. "Yes, I heard the Untreated Dark Element can cause many problems." She then looked at her attendants. "Gala, Kentua, Lilasri, we should find it in our hearts to understand their situation."
The three female attendants nodded. "Lady Tarie is right. Friends Rean, Roan, and Kentucky, sorry for our unsightly outburst earlier."
Rean couldn’t help but comment through his group’s connection. ’I can’t believe they accepted all the bullshit I just said...’
Roan’s mind was on the shadows they had just fought, though. ’Those things... they mentioned something about being taken, and they were trying to get into our bodies. However, I didn’t feel like they were something foreign.’
’Have you seen those shadow shit before?’ Kentucky asked straight away. He definitely can’t remember such a thing.
Too bad, Roan shook his head in response. ’No, but there is something different there.’
In any case, Rean used that chance to ask more. "Lady Tarie, can you tell more about those shadows? I’m afraid of committing a similar mistake again. It wouldn’t be a problem if I were the only one affected. But I definitely can’t accept that my mistake will cause trouble for others in the future. What if those shadows had escaped and attacked lower-level devils? I would never be able to live with myself."
Tarie’s eyes became tearful, and so did her companions. "Such righteousness. Leave it to me. I’ll make sure you remember everything. We shall talk on the way to the capital."
"Then hop on!" Kentucky opened his wings. "Since Spatial Gates can’t be used, we can only fly, and I’m definitely the fastest in the air."
"Is that really fine?" Tarie’s group didn’t expect a Devil Beast to allow itself to be mounted.
"Don’t worry," Kentucky went with the flow. "I hold no prejudice against such things. It’s all about efficiency. The faster we get to the capital, the better."
Rean and Roan were already on Kentucky’s back, just waiting for Tarie and the others.
"Th-Then, please be careful."
Kentucky’s wings immediately flapped, space contracted, and even a little bit of time power was used to accelerate his speed.
*Boom!*
In the next instant, a ray of black light shot through the skies as a sonic boom happened, a speed that even Tarie’s father had never achieved before. Well, that makes sense. Teru was just an Initial Stage Divinity Realm, so he truly couldn’t beat Kentucky in the air. Also, little did Tarie know that Kentucky was actually flying leisurely.
Tarie’s group was amazed for a while, but they eventually got used to Kentucky’s speed. At that pace, forget eight days, they would arrive in the capital in twelve or so hours.
Once she calmed down, Tarie began to explain about the shadows. According to her story, the shadow beings behind the fabric of space were imprisoned there by the Light Holder countless years ago. They are present in the entire Universe, and one must always be careful not to open a gap for them to come out.
When asked about what exactly the shadows are, Tarie and her companions said that they are the inner demons of all living beings with sentience. Even up to this day, all inner demons from the new sentient beings are taken away and imprisoned behind the fabric of space in a type of automatic process.
She wasn’t sure what that automatic method was, but mentioned that it was controlled by the Light of the Provider’s twelve main states, the Light Spreaders. Once every 1000 hours, the twelve states unleash a banishing light that takes all inner demons away from their hosts and imprisons them before they can grow.
Roan finally understood why they felt familiar. ’Inner Demons are just a way of speaking of someone’s greed, lust, and such. No wonder they wanted to enter our bodies. They weren’t really trying to possess us, they were just trying to return home. However...’
Rean understood Roan’s concern. ’Those shadows were a lot more than just some undesired emotions. They took form, even if ethereal, and gained strength. We had to take them seriously the moment they appeared. If they really enter someone’s body, they might actually unleash carnage with their host’s body. It is especially so since those shadows would be entering a body that isn’t really their original owners. Even worse, many would try to invade a body at once, which would only exacerbate the effects.’
’Exactly,’ Roan nodded. ’We’d better be careful from now on.’
’We definitely have to be,’ Kentucky agreed. ’When I was trying to close the Spatial Gate, something was trying to keep it open and enlarge the gap. It was definitely strong, Divinity Realm level. If Inner Demons are being imprisoned there for so long, I don’t want to think about just how many there are behind the fabric of space.’
Rean and Roan definitely didn’t want to fight those things again. Those on this side are born, live, get old, and die. Those Inner Demons, however, never die... or so did Tarie say. Those were the teachings of the Light of the Provider Religion.
Of course, it became quite clear as well. The Light of the Provider is likely this weird Banishing Light that drives Inner Demons away from their hosts.
"When is the next light happening?" Roan asked.
"It is quite close," Tarie said as she checked the time. "It should be flashing through in seven and a half hours."
"So it will happen before we get to the capital."
