Chapter 2551: Madam Mei
Chapter 2551: Madam Mei
"Take your time, Officer Mei’s mother," Yuan said.
"Just call me Madam," she said before walking outside with Officer Mei.
Once he was alone, Yuan sat on the cold floor and recalled his sparring with Officer Mei.
’Although she was very powerful... her combat experience was clearly lacking. If I didn’t go easy on her, I would’ve defeated her with ease,’ he thought to himself.
This meant that, despite having a high level of cultivation, the people of this world likely lacked combat experience. Moreover, being a police officer, Officer Mei’s combat capabilities should logically be higher than those of the average person.
’How did they achieve such high cultivations? The people of this world do not appear to be immortals who have lived for countless years, either.’
Yuan could not fathom how even children could reach the Cultivation God Realm—a level that normally required tens of millions of years to attain, not including the majority who are not even capable of achieving it in the first place.
Meanwhile, outside the training room, Madam Mei and Officer Mei spoke.
"What do you want to talk about?" Officer Mei asked.
"Tell me your reason for dragging me into this mess," Madam Mei spoke with a slight frown on her face. "Is this your ’revenge’?"
"I don’t know what you’re talking about," she responded with a nonchalant expression.
"Do you really think I am stupid? I know you hate me for neglecting you as a child, but this situation is beyond your imagination."
"This has nothing to do with our relationship. I saw a troubled and confused individual needing help, so I reached out to the only person who could help him," Officer Mei calmly replied.
"..."
Madam Mei fell silent for a moment before asking in a low voice, almost as if she was afraid of being heard, "Does he really have the Perfected Heavenly Refinement?"
"That’s what the machine said... twice."
Madam Mei rubbed her eyes in a stressed manner and released a deep sigh.
"If the world learns of his physique... I don’t even want to imagine what might happen."
"Is it really that big of a deal? I mean, at the end of the day, it’s just a physique."
"It is not just any physique. It is the pinnacle of humanity—or at least, that is what the experts claim. As humans, we naturally strive for perfection."
She paused, her expression turning slightly grim. "Moreover, we need a breakthrough soon, as we are beginning to struggle with... Forget it. This isn’t something I should mention to a civilian."
"Regardless, what do you expect me to do in this situation?"
"Well, what can you do? Knowing your credentials, I wouldn’t be surprised if you could enlist him in the military directly."
"Even if I can do that, why should I do it for him? He is nobody to me," Madam Mei sneered.
"Didn’t you just say that his existence is extremely important? You even implied that he could have a significant impact on our society. If you let someone like that slip away..."
"..." Madam Mei fell silent again.
Then, without saying a word, Madam Mei turned around and walked back into the training room.
"Before we begin your assessment, I have a few questions for you," Madam Mei said as she approached Yuan.
"Why do you want to join the military?"
"I need to increase my credentials," he replied without hesitation.
Madam Mei raised an eyebrow at his answer.
"Just to increase your Credential Rank? There are others ways to do so without signing away your life, you know?"
"Well, I need to reach Rank 9 credentials if I want to cure the curses within me," he calmly said, revealing the truth.
Madam Mei’s eyes widened with shock.
"You’re cursed? And it’s so powerful that you need Rank 9 credentials?" Madam Mei was speechless, and even though she wanted to doubt him, there were no signs of deception in Yuan’s crystal-clear eyes.
"..."
After a moment of silence, Madam Mei sighed.
"Quite frankly, your reason for wanting to join the military doesn’t matter in the slightest, and I have heard far worse. However, in your current state, forget about joining. You won’t even qualify."
"Is it my cultivation and Credential Rank?" Yuan asked.
"Yes. Although I can help you with your credentials, you will need to reach Third Ascension before you can qualify. However, there is something I am puzzled about. If you truly have the Perfected Heavenly Refinement physique, why is your cultivation so low?"
"Because where I am from, my cultivation is pretty decent," Yuan said.
"Right... but you’re in our world now, so your cultivation should have soared even without needing you to do anything."
Yuan raised an eyebrow at her words and asked, "What do you mean? In fact, how do the people of this world even cultivate?"
"We cultivate through the system."
"Huh?" Yuan’s face became even more puzzled after hearing her answer.
How does one cultivate through the system?
"Like this," said Madam Mei, and the aura around her suddenly began to shift.
Although Yuan couldn’t sense any energy before, the moment Madam Mei started cultivating, he could clearly sense Eternal Essence exuding from her body!
"What?!" Yuan was so shocked to see another human directly emitting Eternal Essence that he cried out loud.
He had always believed that humans were incapable of absorbing Eternal Essence—that only Eternals possessed such an ability.
Yet right before his eyes, that common sense was being shattered.
However, something felt off. After examining her more closely, Yuan realized what felt odd. Although he could sense Eternal Essence within Madam Mei’s body, it did not seem as though she was actively absorbing it. Instead, it was as if the Eternal Essence was being created from within her body.
"W-What am I looking at right now?" Yuan asked, unable to comprehend their cultivation method even after witnessing it firsthand.
"Our cultivation method," Madam Mei replied calmly, as though she did not even need to focus in order to cultivate.
