Chapter 2444 Selena
Chapter 2444 Selena
"You guys actually attacked the Demon God?" Yuan stared at the woman in astonishment, as he thought that he was the only human to have fought against Eternals before.
"It was a pathetic attempt," the woman shook her head, looking somewhat ashamed. "Not only were we unable to hurt the Demon God, but we couldn't even get close to him. Meanwhile, he killed half of us without any effort. The only reason I, and the other two, were able to survive was because we ran away, and the Demon God didn't pursue us."
"However, he did punish us for baring our fangs at him by imprisoning us in this place."
"By this place, do you mean Death Paradise?" Yuan asked.
She nodded.
"We have been stuck in this place ever since then, unable to do anything but… simply exist without a real purpose."
Hearing the woman's story, Yuan was reminded of the Heavenly War of Immortals and Gods, where countless opponents of the Celestial Emperor had been cast into the Shadow Realm to slowly rot away.
"I already have a good idea why, but I still want to hear it from you. Why did you fight the Demon God?" Yuan suddenly asked. "Simply put, for revenge," she replied coldly. "That bastard experimented on us, turned us into monsters against our will, and plunged our entire world into absolute chaos. But more importantly, he killed my family."
"Revenge, huh?" A faint smile tugged at Yuan's lips as he saw the raw hatred and anger still burning in her eyes, reminding him of Tian Chenyu's past self.
He then turned to look at Supreme Ruler Dena, who was still in her cocoon form.
"I still have some questions."
He then asked the woman, "Do you know someone named Owen? He's the 10th Supreme Ruler of the Crimson Continent. 'Supreme Ruler Umbra' should've spoken to him before, and he's the sole reason we even came here in the first place."
The woman shrugged, "I haven't used 'Supreme Ruler Umbra' before, so I cannot tell you. However, the other two might."
"Can you tell us where we can find them?"
"They are—"
The woman abruptly closed her mouth mid-speech and smiled.
"Rather than just telling you, why don't I bring you to them?" she suddenly suggested.
"Don't worry, I don't have any ulterior motives. I just want to chat with you a little longer," she quickly added, assuring him.
Yuan had no reason to refuse, especially since it was much more convenient, so he nodded.
"Okay."
"Do you want to go now?" she then asked.
"We can do that," he said.
"By the way, what is your name?"
"I thought you'd never ask," she smiled and said, "My name is Selena."
"I'm Yuan."
"Follow me, Yuan."
Selena said as she turned to a certain direction and started moving toward it.
Yuan quickly followed her while carrying Supreme Ruler Dena. Supreme Ruler Grant and Lev also chased them shortly later.
"What is your world like, Yuan?" Selena started inquiring Yuan about his world as they traveled.
"I came from the Nine Heavens, but I actually originate from another world."
"A third world?"
"Well, they are technically the same world. After a certain incident, the Divine Heaven—what we now call Nine Heavens—was split into ten pieces, and I am from the smallest one."
"Why is it called the Nine Heavens if it was split into ten parts?" Selena questioned in a puzzled voice.
"Because one of the worlds was extremely small—akin to an ant compared to the other nine, and it even drifted far, far away. Hell, most people in the Nine Heavens weren't even aware of my world until recently."
"Tell me about your small world first," Selena then said, staring at Yuan like a child during a bedtime story.
Yuan nodded and began to speak of Earth, describing its structure, its societies, the shapes of its buildings, the varieties of food, types of entertainment, and every other detail that came to mind.
Meanwhile, Selena listened with a smile on her face the entire time. After countless years confined to Death Paradise, these glimpses of another world—one where humanity still thrived—were endlessly captivating to her, and even the smallest and most boring details were entertaining.
Once Yuan ran out of things to say about Earth, he moved on to the Nine Heavens. Yet despite their vastness compared to Earth, he felt there was somehow less to say about them.
Still, he spoke of the places he'd visited, the kinds of magical beasts he'd encountered, and even fragments of their history, including the Heavenly War of Immortals and Gods.
Of course, he didn't shy away from revealing to her their history with demons—how they invaded the Nine Heavens and wrought unspeakable horrors, enslaving humans and treating them as mere livestock.
"I've heard about it," Selena said after hearing about it. "How the Crimson Continent tried to get rid of the Forsakens by throwing them into a gateway, that is. However, I was unaware of the consequences or that they'd stopped doing it long ago."
After a moment of silence, Selena remarked, "Although he wasn't directly responsible, the Demon God had a hand in it. After all, he created the Forsakens. So, if you want to blame someone, you should blame the Demon God."
"I did, hence why I fought him," Yuan calmly revealed.
"You what?!" Selena exclaimed, her face almost exactly the same as Yuan when he learned the Transcendants had also fought the Demon God.
"How the hell are you still alive?" she then asked, looking absolutely bewildered.
Yuan smiled and said, "Honestly, he could've killed me if he wanted to. However, for some reason, he decided to spare me in the end."
"I understand why he'd spare us, his own creation, but you, a human from another world? Truly baffling," she mumbled.
Time continued to pass, and after a decade of nonstop journey, Selena suddenly slowed down and said, "We've arrived."
Yuan and the others came to a complete halt at her words, and they immediately tried to sense the Transcendent's presence. Yet, they were unable to sense anything even after expanding their divine sense to their limits.
