1361 Storm In The Capital (4)
“You can leave. Keep paying attention to him.” The Third Prince closed his eyes.
Lu Qing stayed silent as he bowed and left.
The noble reopened his eyes. His gaze turned sharp; the dossier he was holding was engulfed in a ball of golden light. It turned into ashes and disappeared.
…
In the imperial garden—a tall and slender young man in a long white gown was watering the rare plants and flowers with a watering can.
The young man was graced with handsome looks, and was a little similar to the Third Prince. Both had a noble aura, but the former’s vibe was gentle and calm. He wasn’t as cold and arrogant.
A beautiful young lady stood behind him. She looked as refined and elegant as a white swan.
She wore a long purple dress that accentuated her perfect figure. Her charisma was undeniable; any man would have been mesmerized by her presence.
“Second Prince!” A person appeared in a hurry.
The young man was the Second Prince. He turned to look at Zhou Jingtian with a smile. “Jingtian, why the rush?”
“Zhou Jingtian, mind your manners when you meet the Second Prince,” scolded the young lady with a frown.
“It’s all right,” said the prince, waving a hand.
“Haha.” Zhou Jingtian chuckled. He gave the lady a proud glance before passing the report to the young noble. “Your highness, quick, take a look at this report. This is information about Baron Wang Teng, whom you asked me to pay attention to.”
“Looks like there’s big news.” The noble passed the watering can to the lady and took the report. He then read through it with interest.
The more he read, the smaller his smile became. He was astounded.
“Is this the Wang Teng who rejected the Second Prince’s offer?” The young lady seemed unhappy.
“Yes, that’s the one.” Zhou Jingtian nodded.
He wondered what face the uppity young lady would make once she learned of the young hero’s achievements.
She had a very bad impression of the latter since he had rejected the Second Prince’s offer.
Zhou Jingtian was waiting for a good show.
“Hmph, he’s just a baron. Why the need to disturb his highness?” The young lady snorted.
“Qingyi, you may be wrong this time.” The prince shook his head and sighed.
“Your highness, what do you mean?” Lin Qingyi was surprised.
“Take a look.” The noble sat down on a stone stool in the garden and passed the report to the lady.
Lin Qingyi was puzzled. She scanned the content of the report and her expression froze.
“This is… impossible,” she exclaimed in disbelief after a few seconds.
“That’s how it is.” Zhou Jingtian chuckled.
He had a great time talking to Wang Teng, so he was astounded yet happy when the latter achieved that merit.
Looking at Lin Qingyi’s bewildered expression made him feel even even more refreshed.
“You did it on purpose, right?” Lin Qingyi glared at him.
“Hahaha.” Zhou Jingtian burst out laughing.
The Second Prince smiled and waved a hand “All right, all right.” He then said with regret, “Wang Teng is impressive but my offer isn’t good enough to get such a talent.”
“Your highness, you’re thinking too highly of him; your status is much higher than his. He might have made some achievements, but he’s not worth your effort,” Lin Qingyi said in a hurry.
Zhou Jingtian opened his mouth but chose not to speak in the end. From a prince’s perspective, Wang Teng’s status was indeed too low; he would only be seen as a true talent if he became an eternal stage martial warrior.
There were many talents in the world.
