Chapter 310
Chapter 310: Horrifying Poison
Under the stimulation of the hydra’s shadow in the altar, Duren Burg activated his Bloodline Battle Form. With the increase of his warrior power, blade-like fingernails started growing, giving out a faint light, which then turned into a bluish green.
The poisons were also increasing. The color changed from bluish green to light yellow and then to gold.
Pam Honzi gave up on meditation and narrowed his pupils as he focused on the wriggling shadow behind Duren Burg. He even clenched his fists out of nervousness.
What was this? A light of amazement flashed from Qian Jin’s eyes as he saw the wriggling shadow behind Duren Burg change into an image of a hydra of a smaller build.
“A sign of the heavenly bloodline power awakening?” Hostility kept shinning in Lucifer Lucy’s eye. “This…”
Pam Honzi suddenly turned back and locked his eyes on Lucifer Lucy. This sign of heavenly bloodline awakening of the hydra bloodline warriors wasn’t kept a top secret and was known by several major forces in the Zence Empire.
“Which force does this girl belong to?” Numerous predictions flashed through Pam Honzi’s mind. “The Qian Family? Nope. If she came from the Qian Family, Qian Jin would have long sent her packing. The Ares Bloodline Family? Or the Tri-head Golden Dragon Bloodline Family? Or…”
More than a dozen presumptions flashed through Pam Honzi’s mind and were soon eliminated by him with corresponding justifications. He couldn’t figure out which family this girl belonged with.
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah.
Duren Burg was standing in the altar with the scales all over his body protracting straight and blood exuding from the crevices of the scales. He growled hard to alleviate the torturous pain.
Pam Honzi looked at Duren Burg with a worried face. Generally, a Hydra Bloodline Warrior would take some mystic potion before he entered the secondary altar which would not only improve his success of awakening but also alleviate the pain caused by the altar.
It was better for the Level 1 Awakened Hydra Bloodline Warriors to extract power from the magic cores of low-level demon beasts. Bestowed with the ability to conjure nine shadows at the same time, he was only able to do it with a magic core of a mid-level demon beast since his overall strength was still weak.
As for the magic cores of a high-level demon beasts? Pam Honzi had intended to draw Duren Burg over to his side with one of these cores. Yet he didn’t plan for it to be used immediately by Duren Burg as it possessed power beyond his tolerance.
To the Hydra Bloodline Warriors, the high-level snake form demon beast and its magic core were both paramount tonics and lethal poisons. The center of the Sand Python’s magic core was infused with loftiness and hatred against Hydra Bloodline Warriors which would be converted into an invisible rebellion upon extraction.
The magic core in Duren Burg’s hand caused the altar to be self-activated. In this sense, the hostile relationship between the altar and the magic core could be seen.
Scales started to fall off from Duren Burg’s body, making Pam Honzi desperately worried. It took ages for Duren Burg, a descendant of the Hydra Bloodline Warriors who was able to conjure nine shadows at the same time to be born. Pam Honzi couldn’t afford to lose such a genius due to mistake.
“Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, it’s fking hurts.” Duren Burg stabbed his palms with his sharp fingers and looked up at the sky while howling. While the blue veins on his forehead had started to bulge, he shouted: “It fking hurts. It’s killing me! I don’t want to die! I haven’t become the greatest warrior yet! I haven’t chopped off the head of the Demon King! And I haven’t used up my comrade’s tasty cigarettes! I can’t die by any means! You fucking Sand Python, stop defending. You can’t beat me! Just give your power to me! Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah!”
Creak, creak, creak, creak…the altar rotated at an even faster speed, triggering resplendent sparks on its flanks and the sound of clashing metals.
Pam Honzi felt it hard to breathe. It never happened before, the altar never rotated so fast as to trigger metal sparks. Well, to extract the essence of a high-level demon beast when someone hadn’t finished his evolution from Level 1 Bloodline Awakening to Level 2 Bloodline Awakening was aiming too high.
It seemed that…Pam Honzi sighed and thought that he had to exert his power to force this altar to stop, otherwise, the Pam Family would lose an important source of fighting power as well as an expected Assisting Elder as strong as Qian Jin.
“Pam Honzi, you just stay there.”
Standing in the altar, Duren Burg looked at Pam Honzi and growled at the top of his voice. “I can do it. I won’t close my eyes and die. Every time I close my eyes, the picture of my mother when she was kneeling down by the well and doing the endless laundries with her stiff hands full of frostbite would appear. I have to survive! I won’t die! I don’t dare to close my eyes. Compared to closing the eyes and dying, I’m more fearful of seeing the heartrending image of my mother suffering at night in the late winter. Oh damn. You damn Sand Python! Break! Break!”
Duren Burg seemed to have been equipped with explosives. The black scales over his body began to shoot off of him like arrows, producing a piercing sound against the air. Qian Jin lifted his hands to pick up the flying scales, just to find his palms tingled from the touch.
All in a blink, Duren Burg turned into a bleeding man standing in the center of the altar as quiet as the dead.
The rotating altar had ceased to move at some unknown point and the shadow of the hydra had disappeared into the void.
The thin pupils of Pam Honzi have contracted again, and the muscles on his face were convulsing constantly as he was undergoing a great shock deep in his heart. “Duren Burg did it? Had he succeeded in absorbing the magic core of a high-level demon beasts through brute force in his evolution from Level 1 Bloodline Awakening to Level 2 Bloodline Awakening?” He thought.
Lunatic. For real. He nearly died just now. Pam Honzi looked at Duren Burg with his heart mingled with astonishment, aloofness, and a trace of despair.
Duren Burg’s roar was filled with profound hatred for the Pam Family and deep love for his mother. Also, he hated himself for being naïve and powerless when he was young at that time.
Qian Jin jumped onto the altar and ran to Duren Burg just to find the happy and vigorous boy had now lost all glowing liveliness in his eyes. With blood all over his body, he was standing motionlessly in a coma.
Like what he had iterated, he didn’t like closing his eyes. Thus he kept his eyes opened even in a coma.
“Watch out. Don’t touch him.”
Pam Honzi rushed to the back of Qian Jin, lifted his hand to grasp Qian Jin’s shoulder, and pulled him back. The blank eyes of Duren Burg suddenly turned bright, resembling a pair of green vicious wolf-like eyes looming in the late night. Soon the green beam in his eyes became dimmer and dimmer…until eventually, a pair of black-jade like eyes grew from his eye sockets.
New scales began to grow and cover his bleeding body, and four tusks gradually protrude from his red lips. The blade-like fingernails became longer by half an inch.
Sizzle…sizzle…sizzle…
Appalling hisses kept ringing from Duren Burg’s teeth. For the time being, he had shed himself of everything that made him human. He looked just like a ferociously aggressive serpent.
Bang!
A sound made by the colliding of air flow sounded as a ball of light yellow smog rose up from his black scales which floated around Duren’s body with a radius of one meter. A small portion of the yellow smog was exuding to the outside.
Poison! At the sight of the toxic smog emitted by Duren Burg, Qian Jin felt a shock and turned back at Pam Honzi. It was not until this moment did Qian Jin understand why this leader of the Hydra Bloodline Warrior suddenly approached him and dragged him away.
Poison. Duren Burg had successfully absorbed the poisons of the Sand Python. Yet it was unknown whether the faint yellow toxic smog was the incarnation of the Sand Python’s entire poison capability.
One hundred percent? Qian Jin shook his head. It was said the toxic smog of the Sand Python could cover a radius of several kilometers.
Apparently, Duren Burg hadn’t absorbed the entirety of the Sand Python’s poison abilities. So how far had Duren Burg reached now?
Sizzle.
Duren Burg suddenly wriggled his body, flashed by, and conjured a black shadow to pounce at Pam Honzi. The blade-like fingernails left five scratch marks in the air which started to flop on Pam Honzi’s head.
Um? A surprised looked flew by Pam Honzi’s eyes again. Obviously, the attack of Duren Burg was caused by the wild instinct of the Sand Python as his consciousness blacked out; forcibly extracting the high–level demon beast’s magic core had such side-effects.
Yet…Pam Honzi stepped back slightly and looked at Duren Burg who kept on attacking him. He had run into this case in the Pam Family several times, but generally, the one whose body was taken over by the demon beast would attack the weakest creatures visible to him. Why was Duren Burg…was that to say Duren Burg was still fighting against the wild instincts of the demon beast with his own instinct to avoid attacking Qian Jin and his other fellows even in his coma?
Level 9 Demon Fighter. A peak of Level 9 Demon Fighter…Level 1 Demon Capturer…Level 2 Demon Capturer. Faint yellow smog and blood kept exuding from Duren Burg’s scales. As he had lost consciousness, his warrior power was raising like the flood rushing through the gate.
Qian Jin looked at Duren Burg with an envious look. The advantage of bloodline warriors which made ordinary warriors highly envious was that once the bloodline power was awakened, their strength would increase at unforeseen speed just like a flood that had burst through a dam.
This was the unpredictability of bloodline warriors. Even in a disadvantageous situation where he or she might be killed instantly, they could potentially awaken their bloodline power, causing the sudden increase in power, and turn the situation around.
The peak of a Level 2 Demon Capturer. As Duren Burg kept growling, five thin lines of yellow poisonous smog appeared under his long blade-like fingernails. Like real snakes, these smogs crawling around Pam Honzi and tried to penetrate into his nostril, eyes, mouth, and ears.
