"Poker face, Corey."

"You can do this."

Corey stood before the massive fifth tower, drawing in a deep breath as she prepared herself for what lay ahead.

Before heading in, she paused and slipped into her humanoid summon fusion with Lil’ Baem. White scale armor formed over her body, its surface gleaming faintly, while golden void silk coiled along her shoulders like living threads. The weight of it settled her nerves, lending her a quiet, hard-earned confidence. Only then did she step inside.

When she reached the penthouse office’s imposing doors, she didn’t wait for the secretary to announce her. Instead, she kicked them open like it was some wild west saloon and strode in with a deliberate swagger.

Inside, she found her target standing before the vast glass window, gazing down at the campus below. The room was steeped in an eerie, almost suffocating silence.

"Anna, why weren’t you in the assembly?"

The latter didn’t turn around. She only glanced at Corey’s reflection in the glass.

"Lil’ Corey Bright. You’ve grown into quite a beauty. Your parents must be proud... I heard what my mother did. I’m sorry."

"You have nothing to apologize for." Corey shook her head slowly, then added, "But I take it you’ve already established the royal family faction with the Field Marshal, Luna, and the rest. Wyatt won’t be happy to hear that."

"What about you?" Anna didn’t deny it. Instead, she asked, "I heard you, along with all the original members of Wyatt’s organization, have gathered behind Susan. Does Wyatt have no problem with that?"

"Cough—I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m Wyatt’s enforcer," Corey said at once, feigning ignorance.

"Is that so? Then you wouldn’t mind supporting me. After all, I’m your godmother."

"Sorry. As Wyatt’s enforcer, I can’t support any one group." Corey shook her head, putting on a self-righteous front, but faltered as Anna cut in.

"But it’s fine for you to support Susan and her faction?"

"That’s slander. I did no such thing." Corey snapped back, "Stop it. I’m not the one on trial, you are. Why didn’t you attend the assembly?"

She looked ahead to find Anna gone. She spun around searching, but the woman was nowhere to be found, until she heard her say, "This is fine silk, gift it to your godmother."

Anna had appeared right behind her, the Void Silk already in her hands, turning it over with quiet appreciation. She was impressed to find that it was a true relic.

"That’s mine, give it back."

Anna frowned. The Void Silk in her hand had a will of its own, and it clearly preferred Corey. It was actively trying to wriggle free, straining back toward its owner. Not wanting to damage it, she stored it in her dimension card.

It escaped anyway, slipping straight out of the card and back into the void. Though when it didn’t return to Corey immediately, she couldn’t help but wonder, had it gotten lost in the Void?

"Anna, give it back!" Corey shrieked, because without the Void Silk her ultimate moves were incomplete — a double-edged sword at best.

Seeing no sign of Anna backing down, Corey walked over and grabbed her, intent on taking it back by force.

"Let go, Corey."

"Give back my Void Silk first."

"I’m warning you."

"You — you know what, now I understand why Wyatt only went to check on Big Sis Su himself and sent me to check on you and Jill—"

"He did what?" Anna snapped, the full weight of Corey’s words landing all at once — Wyatt had not only gone to Susan first, he hadn’t even come himself.

"You heard me! Now give back my Void Silk!"

"Get off me!"

In her rage, Anna punched her. As an extreme practitioner, every attack she threw was extreme by nature — restraint was a conscious choice, and in that moment of anger she made none. Corey went straight through the penthouse wall.

...

"But I did nothing wrong!

"She’s the one who stole my Void Silk and isn’t returning it. Why should I apologize?

"...And how is everyone still stronger than me?"

Today just wasn’t Corey’s day. Regret clung to her like a second skin. Every choice she made seemed to snap back at her. If she’d just stayed with Susan, none of this would have happened—her Void Silk wouldn’t be gone, and she wouldn’t be kicked around the sky like a human football.

I watched Anna kick Corey around the airspace above headquarters and knew full well her anger wasn’t really aimed at Corey. It was aimed at me. But she couldn’t confront me directly — she didn’t want to let on that it bothered her when I pulled stunts like this.

Well, there was a reason I did what I did—and it wasn’t to please Susan. I wanted the three of them to stop pretending everything was fine, to face the issue instead of letting it fester into something ugly over time. They needed to talk, to clear the air and come to an understanding—just like they did in my case.

For that reason, I had to play the scumbag—give them a push, a reason to seek each other out and finally start the conversation. It had to be Susan. I knew she wouldn’t confront Anna or Jill right away the way they would her.

Though she had the authority, she was still easing into it, not yet comfortable wielding it—unlike Jill and Anna, who had carried immense authority since birth. Now that I’ve lit the spark under their asses, they’ll be the ones to seek Susan out. And Susan, as she’s already proven to me, won’t take shit from anyone—not even me.

"Wyatt, you asshole, stop watching the show and handle your woman!"

The longer Anna kept her eyes on me, the harder she drove her kicks into Corey, each strike sharper than the last.

Fortunately for Corey, someone finally came to her rescue. The Void Silk—seemingly out of nowhere—coiled around her, wrapping tight before dragging her into the Void. I took that as my cue to leave.
