Chapter 1385: Taking What You Wanted

Chapter 1384 – Taking What You Wanted

Only after seeing how far Lin Yi had walked away did Elder Yu reluctantly pull his eyes back and folowed.

In his view, Lin Yi was someone who was meticulous and careful- if he decided this place didn’t have what he was looking for, there was no point for him to stay there. He didn’t really have much knowledge when it came to this stuff anyway, and the male thief was more professional than him.

“There is a stone door in front, there should be a path leading to the main tomb room after we open it, but it might be dangerous,” Old Hei said as he shined his light to a door some distance away, “The stuff here at the door is evidently made in preparation for normal graverobbers.”

“Prepare my ass, it’s prepared for dead people, more like,” Lin Yi said faintly, “The flying sparrow girl almost got crushed to death, plus this sort of entrance into the tomb, a giant pit falling to the ends of the earth- how are normal graverobbers even supposed to get out?”

Old Hei paused, but nodded. Lin Yi made sense- graverobbers who were cable enough to even reach this place were most likely not normal people, there wouldn’t be any ‘normal graverobbers’ at all! The stuff here was just items that triggered traps, and the value of these items weren’t even good enough to begin with.

“The stone door is the same as before, a password locked one, but our tools were all messed up from before. It’ll be reallly hard to get past,” Old Hei said as he looked at the stone door, “Do you have any ideas, Elder Yu?”

“Why would I?” Elder Yu said, “I don’t know about this stuff.”

“You coming here has contributed nothing- just useless baggage that keeps asking for this and that,” Lin Yi said faintly, “If I’m correct, the code on this stone door should be the same as the one from before, since only masters would be able to make it this far. When it came to masters, normal mechanisms like this would only take time and nothing else. If they had patience, then it would be enough. Designers wouldn’t spend too much effort on this.”

What Lin Yi said was a conjecture he found on Bojia’s files- although, it did make sense to him.

“Oh?” Old Hei blinked, “I’ll try it out.”

Old Hei was the one who broke the code earlier, so he remembered it best- he used to same rows of numbers and turned the dial on the stone door, and very soon, a clacking was heard, and the door opened.

Old Hei looked at Lin Yi with admiration, “Seems like this male thief is really experienced.”

“Enough with that- let’s just be careful. There are more traps here,” Lin Yi said, with eyes on the hallway.

He didn’t know why, but there seemed to be an immense feeling of danger, but the jade didn’t warn him at all. This meant that this danger wouldn’t be triggered as long as they didn’t do anything at all. However, the consequences would be extremely dangerous if they were to be triggered.

Lin Yi’s words made Elder Yu, who was about to stride forward, stop in his tracks as he looked back worriedly, “You guys walk first!”

Lin Yi had already gotten tired of seeing his cowardly behaviour- he really hadn’t met a practitioner this cowardly before.

Lin Yi didn’t mind though, and he walked forward.. This hallway was clearly different from the one before, and there were no treasure chests or display racks like the room before. There were, however, doors in the stone wall after every couple of steps.

“This is the main tomb. The two rooms here are the storage areas for treasures that are for the tomb. The master of this tomb is clearly a scholar, there will only be treasures in the spaces here- this is no tomb for an emperor or anything,” Old Hei said to Elder Yu as he walked, “The stuff we want should be in these couple of treasure rooms.”

“Alright, open them and see!” Elder Yu nodded and pointed at one of the doors.

This door didn’t have a password, and could be opened immediately, but Elder Yu didn’t want anything happening to him so naturally he wouldn’t do anything himself.

Feeling troubled, Old Hei pushed opened the stone door, but nothing happened- everyone let out a breath of relief.

The treasure rooms were big in size, but the sutff in there didn’t really fill the spacere at all. The was only one treasure rack with some vases and bronze tools… Yet the items in here made Xiaoke and Lao Hei’s eyes light up!

Old Hei ran over quickly to look at the stuff on the racks, a greedy and stunned look on his face. These items were grand treasures in the eyes of those who knew what they were!

“This bronze medicine tool should be from the old Spring and Autumn period…” Old Hei said as he looked at the items, entranced, “Plus, they should be the items used in the royal palace, they have markings on it…”

“I only want money!” Xiaoke said as she looked at the stuff on the racks. They were going to all the stuff, but they had no use to her!

“You don’t want any of these?” Old Hei frowned. There was a lot of stuff there, and he couldn’t carry all of them away by himself. They had already entered the tomb and didn’t know how to leave, either, and he wouldn’t be able to carry many out. They were easily fragile, as well, and so he only wanted to take a couple with him. That medicine tool alone, after all, was an antique with an insane pricetag- if he restored it, it would make him a hundred million easily!

“I can’t sell it even if I took it anyway,” Xiaoke shrugged.

“Alright, the ten percent I promised you will be given regardless,” Old Hei sighed, deciding not to go back on his word. That male thief wasn’t some kid he could pick on, and plus Xiaoke did prove her worth during their time graverobbing. It was fine for him to pay her what he owed. The problem was, how were they supposed to leave the tomb?

It wasn’t practical for them to go back the way they came, let alone the fact that the ceiling had already been closed off. Even if it hadn’t been, how were they supposed to climb up? The entire tunnel formed the shape of an S, too, and the surface was extremely smooth, with no friction whatsoever. Unless they had something with suction properties, it just wasn’t possible.

Old Hei was no idiot- he only took some of the bronze medicine tools and other similar things, placing them carefully into his backpack. He left everything else alone.
