Chapter 2223 - A Second Cosmic Impulse
Chapter 2223 - A Second Cosmic Impulse
The atmosphere on the Firmament was quite strict and tense the whole way. Thanks to Lin Lingxiao, most disciples didn't dare to cause any commotion and silently entered the cultivation rooms inside the ship, making the best use of their time to squeeze out any last-minute gains. Even given the speed of the ship, it would still take around half a month for them to reach the Infinitum Stele. The ship was incredibly fast, yet the vast size of Ebonia kept the travel time long.
"I guess this would only feel more like a spherical world if I got a chance to circle it on an infinitum-class ship at its fastest speed...." Tianming looked around, but there was nothing but dark clouds outside the ship. Some settlements could be seen, glowing bright and surrounded by countless formations. There were also many primordial forests, seas, and mountains filled with unknown dangers. Ebonia was a world shrouded in darkness, as its name suggested. Compared to the red-hot sun or the dreamlike Violetglory, it was so cold that it seemed like a hellish realm in comparison.
Since coming to Ebonia, Tianming had been kept cooped up in the Infinitum Swordsea for an entire year. This was the first time he got to leave to explore the wider world outside. Within a short two weeks, the most he could do was to practice his swordsmanship. Thus, he focused on the Grandvoid Compendium and Xiaozhi Sword Art, splitting the Grand-Orient Sword into two. Spacetime shifted and bent from his sword strikes again and again as countless rivers and mountains buzzed past under his feet. The ship was so fast that he could barely see the scenery down below, but even from the quick glimpses he got, the cities beneath him looked even grander than Myriadmile City of the Violetcloud Imperium.
"To become rex mundi and control Ebonia as the ruler of a sixth-class nova source world...." It was hard for him, the ruler of a second-class nova source world, to imagine the kind of faith he could garner as rex mundi. But that was a distant goal he didn't quite dare to aspire to just yet.
......
On the tenth day, the disciples were growing more and more anxious as they approached their destination.
"Huh?" Tianming suddenly noticed the Grand-Orient Sword change as he was practicing. Whenever the tip of his sword pointed at the front of the ship, it seemed to shudder. "My dad said that the Infinitum Stele is a core component of the Grand-Orient Sword.... If I obtain it, I'll be able to unlock the nine grand cosmic impulses within and gain the power to cut through deific-class worlds!" That kind of power only existed in his imagination right now. But given its reaction, there was no doubt that the sword was somehow related to the Infinitum Stele.
"The Infinitum Stele is the soul of the Infinitum Bodhimanda. I’ll only be able to obtain and assimilate it into the sword if I reach the top of the ranking!" That was still so far off in the future that he didn't even bother fantasizing about it. He calmed himself and continued observing the changes in the sword. Thanks to the Flint Infernal Impulse within, it shone with a magma-red glow. It was actually glowing hot and no normal person would be able to hold it.
On the twelfth day of the voyage, he discovered a new streak of violet lightning coursing through the sword! "This is also a cosmic impulse.... Don't tell me...." With a look of elation, he sent his caelum into the internal world of the sword. A large, colorless door was ahead of him, surrounded by cloudy mist. He looked up and saw nine stars above arranged in a ring, illuminating the internal world. The lights were nine cosmic impulses that were surrounded by formations formed from divine ordered patterns that sealed off their power.
Formations, including Ebonia's fusion formation, were all birthed from celestial patterns that were derived from divine ordered patterns, but divine ordered pattern formations arose naturally in the world. While Ebonia had cosmic impulses all around, their power wasn't complete. Only the spherical balls of energy within the Grand-Orient Sword were true and complete cosmic impulses. Most of them were black and gold, and only the Flint Infernal Impulse had completely turned dark red after its divine ordered formation had been breached. As Tianming's cultivation grew, the hole in it grew larger and larger, allowing him access to more and more Flint Infernal Impulse. He quickly identified the other cosmic impulse next to it and saw that it had transformed into a dark purple sphere. It looked like a sea of lightning with countless bolts that turned into dragons that roared and clashed with each other!
"That cosmic impulse also has a hole! Did this happen because I’m approaching the Infinitum Stele?" With the breach, it meant Tianming could utilize the power of a second cosmic impulse, greatly enhancing the power of the Grand-Orient Sword. The Flint Infernal Impulse was of the fire aspect, while this second one was just as explosive, being of the lightning aspect. Lightning and fire were the fiercest aspects ever!
When he approached it, he saw the divine ordered patterns that comprised it arrange themselves into two words: vapor and lightning. This was the Vapor Lightning Impulse! It could blend into the Grand-Orient Vortex and be infused into the Imperealm Sword Formation, enhancing its might, or be converted into vapor lightning sword ki for direct use in combat. The hole in this cosmic impulse was about the same size as that in the Flint Infernal Impulse as well.
"Senior, it's you again." As he had expected, there was a man in black-and-gold robes inside the cosmic impulse with his back facing Tianming. No matter how Tianming oriented himself, he could only see the man's back, which was quite perplexing. However, there was a slight difference from the last time he had seen the man inside the Flint Infernal Impulse. His body had been rotated ever so slightly, but enough that Tianming could barely make out his ear, which looked almost identical to that of the white-robed man within the Prime Tower.
"If this is the Primordial God-Emperor, who’s the white-robed person?" Still holding doubts, his caelum left the sword. He clenched it in his hand and activated the Vapor Lightning Impulse, surrounding the flaming sword with violet lightning bolts, greatly boosting its potential for devastation.
"Let's give it a try!" He split the swords into two and found that he could split the impulses into one sword each, using both lightning and fire together. "Not bad."
This unexpected edge he had gotten would even the playing field against his post-hundred-year-old opponents. This time around, he wouldn't be facing others from the Swordgod Lin Clan, and the fact that a new cosmic impulse had been unlocked meant that the sword was definitely somehow linked to the Infinitum Stele. Yet something else that completely dumbfounded him happened on the thirteenth day of the voyage, as they were nearing their destination.
