Chapter 1520 - Believe in the Demons and be Blessed with Eternal Life (Part 1)
Chapter 1520: Believe in the Demons and be Blessed with Eternal Life (Part 1)
There was no way a level 14 angel would be able to resist the power of the Purgatory of the Fallen. Nailisi was at level 15, after all.
Abyrus was so weak-willed that the angel was immediately frightened to submission.
Nailisi laughed and dumped one side of its wings into the Purgatory of Darkness, before taking them out again. She had enhanced the wing with formidable power of darkness using the Origin Stone of Darkness.
Nailisi attached the wing to Abyrus with a smirk on her face. The Winged Skull picked up the Sword of Glory from afar and said, “Nailisi, quit playing around.”
The Violet Angel huffed and puffed, signaling its agreement with the Winged Skull.
“Did you forget about the saint?” Nailisi asked.
The Winged Skull was reminded that Saleen had once used the saint to bait the Lord of Glory, and the divine kingdom advented in their plane. With that angel…
Nailisi continued. “This is a seraph, a very perfect construct. I’d like to see just how mad the Lord of Glory would get if it fell. I bet he would come straight for us himself, no?”
“Nailisi, Master is absent.”
“I know that. We will put it on hold until he comes home.” Nailisi hit Abyrus’ head with her huge hand, before having the 24 chains drag Abyrus into the Purgatory of the Fallen to be further modified.
The Winged Skull was exasperated at Nailisi’s expression. She was obviously taking a sarcastic jab at the Winged Skull. The method they had used to catch Fycro was picked up from her after all.
“Let’s go.” The Winged Skull spread their bone wings and headed straight for the angels. They were not in the mood to argue with Nailisi. The Winged Skull saw doing so to be pointless right now, even though it was able to bring them closer at times.
Nailisi felt it was no fun that the Winged Skull left. She then shouted roughly, “Violet Angel!”
“I’m here! I’m here!” The Violet Angel came before Nailisi quickly, not behaving like a dragon at all. Of course, the Violet Angel did not feel humiliated or anything, as it was just a puppet.
Sigh… The Violet Angel looked at how submissive the puppet behaved and lost all interest. She then said, “Let’s go.”
She was still completely oblivious as to how important the seraph that she had just captured actually was. If Nailisi had known of Abyrus’ true value, she would have probably dragged it before the gates of the divine kingdom and cut it up into pieces.
After Abyrus was chucked into the Purgatory of the Fallen, its connection with its god was cut off completely. It came on its own, so no one knew that it was Nailisi who had captured the seraph. The legions of angels were still in hot pursuit far behind but were quickly met with the legion of demons.
Both angels and demons were races of formidable physical prowess. However, one was created by the gods, while the other was naturally born. Abyrus’ angels were not actually that formidable, as no high-level angel had been willing to come with it. All of the high-level angels hated Abyrus’ guts.
Even so, the angels were strong enough that the Winged Skull had to join in the fight. They summoned the golden skeletons and had them join the demons, becoming the pillars of absolute power in their midst.
The Winged Skull asked Nailisi, who had caught up with them as they fought, “Nailisi, did you inform the teacher?”
“Inform him of what?”
The Winged Skull was baffled. “You didn’t inform Sir Jason before you left?” they asked.
Nailisi intended to curse but quickly realized that it was Saleen’s teacher they were talking about, so she simply swallowed all her curses and answered. “I forgot.”
“You’d be better off forgetting to eat!” The Winged Skull was incredibly frustrated. Nailisi was the one in charge of battles, so it should have been her that was in contact with Jason, but all of it slipped her mind completely.
“Now that you mention it, angels really are delicious!” Nailisi grabbed hold of an angel that charged at her, squashing it into a flickering ball of light and chucking it into her mouth.
While angels had flesh, blood, and bones and did not look all that different from humans, they were combat weapons created by gods and inherently constructs of energy. Nailisi was very much invigorated after gulping down an angel, so she pushed the Violet Angel to join in the fray.
The Winged Skull had no intention of running into anything unexpected and causing the entire legion to be destroyed, even though the legion that was being commanded was not made of demons from the absolute top of the league. The Winged Skull contacted Jason using a scroll, sending projections of the ongoing battle back to him.
The flickering images would inform Jason enough of what was actually going on.
Nailisi was gleefully slaughtering the angels. While none of them were true powerful ones, that was only from Abyrus’ perspective. The angels they were fighting at the moment were far more powerful than the god creatures stationed at the encampments right outside the gates of the divine kingdom.
The angels were at least two levels higher than the ones Nailisi had met when she first barged into the divine kingdom. She took out a huge net and spread it, catching a great many of them and dumping them into her collection of purgatories.
The angels were reduced to pure energy after they were chucked into the Purgatory of Purification, which excited Nailisi a great deal. Some leftover power of faith was turned into divine crystals as well. She had never expected the armor the angels wore to be constructs of energy, as well. The angels of slightly higher levels had brought about considerable casualties to the demons.
Nailisi, however, behaved as if she saw none of that. She took her golden dragon form. Her golden dragon had true dragon might, and she was at the pinnacle of level 15 at present.
After Nailisi showed up as a level 15 golden dragon, the angels were all so pressured by the dragon might, that even with the Lord of Glory serving as their backing, they were unable to sustain flight and dropped to the ground one after another.
The Violet Angel, which was obviously a fake golden dragon, was reduced to a menial servant, picking up all the angels that had been shocked by the dragon might Nailisi exuded. Nailisi was over 100 meters long in her golden dragon form. One puff of dragon breath from her engulfed every single angel within a 500-meter radius.
There was no longer any need for her to conserve her stamina, as she had consumed the soul of an ancient golden dragon. Her golden dragon form was no longer the incomplete, half-baked thing that it used to be.
The Winged Skull was exasperated and let the golden skeleton guard her, just to prevent them from being ambushed by the god creatures. Nailisi’s endeavors brought about a 500-meter wide gap in the legion of angels, so they did not have to worry about being in danger.
Tens of thousands of soldiers were on standby in Lion City at all times. While Nailisi’s legion fought the angels, all the units in the city had finished gathering. By the time the god creatures deployed their forces, three waves had already been sent from Lion City, amounting to a total of over 100,000 men, who all charged simultaneously at the gates of the divine kingdom.
The powers of the human armies were growing at frightening speeds at the moment. Even just a few years ago, gathering an army of over 100 thousand soldiers would have taken days.
More of the god creatures gathered outside the divine kingdom, waiting menacingly in the background. The supreme commander of the god creatures intended to kill over a million of the human soldiers, in order to open a gap in Lion City. As such, the commander raised the stakes and deployed over half of their forces, sending them all into Myers Mainland.
Abyrus, who was dumped into the Purgatory of the Fallen, pleaded to the void, which had Nailisi’s face.
Nailisi’s double, who was sitting on the platform, did not bother with it despite the fact that Abyrus had been pleading for quite a while. Evil powers continued to surge into its pure body.
Abyrus was in a state of complete despair and prayed to the Lord of Glory, hoping to reach its Lord Father and be saved. If it were to be able to leave that damned place, it would no longer harbor any thoughts of fighting on the frontlines and winning honors for the Lord of Glory.
Wars are indeed dirty affairs!
Nailisi’s double heard Abyrus’ prayers and opened her eyes suddenly, chuckling.
Abyrus heard the woman say, “It’s useless, angel. This is the Purgatory of the Fallen. Any believer who gets inside will fall. Unless your god has reached level 18, your prayers will fall on deaf ears.”
“Who are you?” Abyrus watched the lithe body on the altar, still harboring delusions. It thought that if it were to be able to entice that entity, there would be a chance for it to escape.
“I’m Nailisi, the demon dumped you in here. I’m her, and she is me,” the double answered.
Abyrus might have been soft, but it was not a fool. It was able to comprehend that the demon had a double right away. Despite the fact that doubles of gods and the original god were considerably different entities, they shared one trait—they would never betray their main bodies.
Abyrus’ red eyes felt dry, and the tears that had been flowing from them dried up. It realized just how powerful its enemies truly were. It was no surprise why the Lord of Glory continued to refuse to lead the charge personally. The powers of that demon and the spirit were near that of its Lord Father after all.
If yet another entity of comparable powers ganged up on the Lord of Glory…
It was the first time Abyrus had doubted the Lord of Glory’s powers since the day it had been born.
It was the beginning of its fall.
Nailisi’s double was perceptive enough to notice it. She smirked and created a mirror, putting it before Abyrus.
Abyrus looked at its visage in the mirror and was totally frightened.
The seraph’s handsome face was no longer around. Its naked body was divided into two colors, radiating from the center of its body.
It had pure, white skin and a vibrant red wing on one side, while the other side was covered with dark scales. The red wing was gone and was replaced with a dark grey one.
What frightened the seraph further was that the dark grey wing was filled with evil words cursing at its god.
It was the wing of a fallen angel. Those who betrayed its Lord Father did not all end up dead. Abyrus thought it was due to its Lord Father’s compassion that they managed to live, but after looking at the other half of its body, a different thought was harbored in its mind.
It seemed that its Lord Father was unable to do anything about the fallen angels at all.
“Any thoughts of returning to the divine kingdom now?” the double of Nailisi asked gently.
24 Shackles of the Fallen behind Abyrus kept it chained. There was no joy seen in the seraph’s eyes.
“I’m never going to betray my Lord Father!”
“I didn’t say you need to betray him. This is just a little experiment. You can return to the side of your god and not do anything for us.”
Abyrus’ grey wing shuddered. Deep down, it hesitated. If it were to return, it would be tantamount to treason. There was no way it could let the Lord of Glory see it while it looked like that.
“Just an experiment?”
“Of course. Now that you’re captured and tied up, you’re no threat to me. This is your only chance, angel. There are 12 purgatories in here, and I’m the easiest one to talk to.” Nailisi’s double’s smile turned even more gentle and beaming.
