Chapter 1308

Chapter 1308: Wandering Angel (Part 2)

The archangel was troubled. She was a creation of the gods and a type of god creature. Sbe should have never had a soul. When their god died, she and the rest of the metal angels were supposed to die alongside their god.

However, the god of Metal Divine Kingdom perished and the angels were still intact. The problem, however, was that while she acquired powers and evolved into a living being with a soul, all the other metal angels lost their intelligence.

The archangel was elated when she found herself on Myers Mainland after being summoned. She quickly found that the humans on the mainland were far weaker than the ones imprinted in her inherited memories.

She wanted to look for a powerful being and make sense of what was happening to her. What the gods were unable to address, humans would be capable of addressing.

Saleen saw in the magic array’s projections that the archangel seemed to be looking for something above. He sent his voice into the natural thunder downwards.

“Angel, you shall come look for me up here. I shall keep you from being attacked by lightning.”

The archangel shuddered, as its majesty seemed even more unpredictable than the god that she had once served. That person was not all that powerful, but they were capable of comprehending powerful rules. Is that a human or a god?

“If you’re not coming up here, I’ll be off.” Saleen fused his own Thundering Sound with nature’s and realize quite a lot. It was the result of him observing lightning for prolonged periods and learning as he went.

That realization changed the rhythm of his heartbeat and his blood, becoming extremely slow. When his heart beat, it seemed as thunder was produced in his body, and when his blood flowed, it seemed like lightning in nature, sending energy to every part of his body. Every breath of his seemed to be winds of nature.

Saleen’s voice coalesced into thin lines in the storm, sent straight to the archangel’s ears, which startled her.

“I’m coming up!” The archangel had totally forgotten about the metal angels behind her. She spread her wings and shot into the sky, immersing herself in the clouds.

The crackling electricity burst within the clouds, but Saleen’s voice acted as a guide, preventing her from being struck by lightning along the way. She flew all the way to the Floating City, and a teleportation portal appeared at the bottom of the huge construct.

The archangel did not require any magical help. She passed right through the portal and came above the Floating City.

Saleen’s Magical Element Tower rose from the core area of the Floating City. Ten floors were seen and the rest remained buried underground.

“Come in.”Saleen’s voice was regal and imposing, but he was anxious. The archangel was level 13. He would be able to do something against her if she came into the tower, but if she remained outside, he would only be able to kill her by directing lightning towards her.

However, that was not Saleen’s intention. The archangel’s eyes looked very lost, so Saleen did what he did.

“Will do.” The archangel did not cast any skills and walked into the magic tower obediently, going up the stairs and into Saleen’s room.

Nailisi was standing by Saleen’s side. The archangel felt her memories were rather confusing as she looked at her, pointing at Nailisi rudely, at a loss for words.

Nailisi smiled at her. “I’m not Myers.”

It was only then that the archangel calmed down. She was not Myers and had only taken Myers’ form using Ultimate Shapeshifting. Who had the gall to do that? The Goddess of Myers was an absolutely powerful being even among the gods.

“What is your name?” Saleen looked at the archangel and was hardly perturbed. He had just resonated with the lightning and thunder of nature all of a sudden, and his mind calmed. He would not be agitated even if he saw that general again.

The archangel frowned. She was able to feel Saleen’s power, which was far lower than hers, but his calm was not a facade. It was that human that sent out the terrifying voice that hit straight into her soul.

“My name is Rafel.” The archangel did not refuse Saleen’s question. Her name was not a secret.

“Well, Rafel, I’m Saleen, Saleen Metatrin.”

Rafel nodded and gazed at Saleen with her golden eyes. She did not know what to say, but her intuition told her that the human before her was not someone she could fathom.

“Rafel, you’re, for the time being, more powerful than I am, but you’ll need me,” Saleen said confidently.

Rafel looked ponderous and nodded slightly again.

“How about you become my follower? I’m not a god and I don’t need your soul. However, you’ll need to pay with loyalty.”

“And why is that?”

“Without my protection, it’ll only be a matter of time before someone chomps down on you. An angel without a god, wandering on this piece of land; a lamb who lost its master.” Saleen’s voice was calm and slow, but it possessed the power to mesmerize others.

“This is Myers Mainland, no?” Rafel finally asked.

“This is Myers Mainland.”

“Humans here are really puny and weak, totally different from the legends.” A tinge of sarcasm was seen in Rafel’s eyes. Is this human trying to subjugate me?

“You don’t understand, Rafel. There are still many powerful beings hidden on this mainland. The powerful beings need you… like they need food.” Saleen recalled the heroic spirits in the Cemetery of Heroes.

If he killed Rafel and handed her over to the heroes, he would get quite a number of powerful equipment in exchange.

“You’re weaker than I am, so how…”

“I’m indeed weaker than you are, but I have the ability to kill you!” Saleen said as he took out his family badge, waving it before Rafel’s eyes.

“The Lightning Badge! You’re the God of Thunder?”

“No. I have nothing to do with the gods. Rafel, do you understand why I dared to invite you up here?” Saleen’s smile remained, but his words were chilling.

“You? Why did you deceive me?” A tear was seen in Rafel’s eyes.

Saleen discovered how pure that angel’s soul was. His mesmerizing Thundering Sound was unable to entice her at all.

“No, I didn’t deceive you. I invited you up here because I needed you, just like how you need me.” Saleen put the badge away. He was able to tell that the archangel’s physical structure had become very close to that of a human.

When her armor was retracted, she would have a lot of weaknesses that he would be able to exploit. One shot with the Crystal Finger was all it would take.

A level 13 being would be able to end him without a doubt in conventional circumstances. They were very close to each other. He was a mage, and she was an angel. However, he had the Figure of Fate and any attack would first work on the Figure of Fate first.

Only when the Figure of Fate was completely shattered would he suffer direct damage. When the Figure of Fate was taking hits, he would have ample time to cast his skills.

“God says…”

Nicholas tensed up immediately, thinking that Rafel was about to cast divine spells.

“God says that humans are maggots!” Rafel’s brow raised.

Saleen smiled. “That is how humans describe the gods. We’re similar.”

“I will not work for you. The ones that I need to protect are the angels, nothing else,” Rafel answered.

“No, you will work for me, because it won’t take long for you to realize that your powers, which you take so much pride in, are no longer supreme on this plane. Your angels will become food for a lot of races, including humans.”

“I will not trust you. At the very least for the time being, I’m still the stronger one!” Determination was seen on Rafel’s face.

“Why would you need to trust me?” Saleen asked curiously before continuing, “I’m a mage. Trust don’t exist between us. Having contracts alone will suffice.” Saleen took out a contract scroll that he had prepared and threw it at her. The scroll hovered before Rafel, coursing with starlight.

“An astrologer?”

“I’m an astrologer as well.”

Rafel did not take the contract scroll and turned to look at the magic projections on the magic array instead. The projections in the array showed the hundreds of metal angels.

The metal angels stood quietly in the rain, awaiting Rafel’s return. Their bodies glittered with a metallic sheen, hard and cold. The pouring rain hit the metal angels and bounced, shining brilliantly in the weak glitter.

“See that, Rafel? Your angels will just remain there without you around, until they rust and fall apart.” Saleen began to entice Rafel.

He was able to tell that if the ones at Alchemy City had not taken Rafel on using magic arrays, she might not have resisted. The angel had no idea what true freedom was.

“Is that so?” Rafel did not look at Saleen. She was looking at the people around him instead.

Sika, Nailisi, Nicholas, Jola, Sul, Eleanor, Daniel…

Everyone looked at her with expectant eyes. The souls were firm and had few impurities. They felt less dirty and stifling.

Rafel caressed the contract before her with slender fingers. The scroll looked beautiful. Starlight coursed through it and mystical script shone with a silver sheen. The scroll’s material was black as night.

“You are sincere, Saleen.” Rafel praised him and Saleen seemed rather flustered.

“So you actually killed a dragon to ensure the effectiveness of this contract then?” Rafel sensed the words written on the scroll being imbued with formidable power.

The magical powers were imbued within the blood of the dragon. The dragon’s blood seemed to be fresh. Saleen had asked for it from the Grand Duke before they parted ways. He needed only a small quantity for writing the scroll.

“The dragon is alive,” Saleen answered.

Rafel’s fingernail bent inwards and pricked a hole on her finger. Pure energy flowed from the hole, which she used to write her name on that contract.

Rafel shuddered for a bit after writing her name, feeling something added to the depths of her soul, making her feel somewhat uncomfortable. However, she recalled the hundreds of metal angels waiting for her in the rain and felt satisfied.
