Chapter 1233: Entering the Cemetery Again (Part 2)

Saleen held his people back and forbade them from entering the cemetery of the giant. Lex summoned Bain in secret and took him with her, along with 12 level-nine supreme demons that she had personally selected, and Stephanie the sorcerer.
Stephanie had the possibility of advancing to level-ten. She had originally gone to the Principality of Bitterwater, but had returned to Daliang City to help Lex out.
Saleen’s only follower who had entered the cemetery with Lex was Gusion. He had not been around Saleen much. Most of the time, he was fighting for Lex. From Saleen’s perspective, there were no lurking dangers in Gusion’s fate for the moment, so Saleen had Gusion try his luck out.
Saleen did not actually let any of his followers into the cemetery out of fear of any danger coming to them.
In the battles of the past several months, all the fossilized gods at the outer parts of the cemetery had been completely taken care of by forces from both the Holy See and Daliang City.
He’d done this because he intended to act against the Holy See. Saleen erected the Magical Element Tower right at the entrance of the cemetery of the giant, waiting for his enemies to strike.
Lex and the others had already entered the cemetery. The tower had been erected underwater, forming currents around it. A huge vortex whipped up with a one-mile radius, drawing in everything nearby.
The Holy See’s army had actually come to Daliang City on metal ships.
Metal flyers dropped magic fire shells from very high altitudes above Daliang City, intending to burn the ships. However, all of the ships were guarded by professionals above level-six and Heaven Knights. All of the shells were shot down by crossbow bolts in midair.
Flames burned on the water but were unable to get close to the ships.
Theisio held the God Grace Staff and white light lit up on the surface of every single ship.
Attacks from Daliang City were utterly ineffective against the hundreds of the Holy See’s ships. The Heaven Knights rode their warhorses on the ships and leaped into the water. The warhorses were all clad in watertight armor. The Heaven Knights were able to maintain a speed of above 30 miles per hour after diving in.
There were only about 100 men on every ship, which amounted to little more than 10,000 men in total.
Saleen saw over 10,000 men dive into the water and thought that the scene was funny. He had been able to rely on numbers because he had the Magical Element Tower and was armed with the magic net. Sheer numbers translated to strength in such cases.
However, the same could not be said for the elite Heaven Knights. Aren’t they just walking to their deaths right now?
“So Theisio, you’re a dumb**s after all,” Saleen shouted very, very loudly. The voice penetrated the surface of the water and hit the skies. It was none other than the Thundering Shock.
All 10,000 of the knights were stunned for a bit by the Thundering Shock move. Then, 3,600 demonic spirits at the top of the tower cast Snowkill at the same time.
Snowflakes danced in the water at depths of over 400 meters. The hexagonal snowflakes were unnervingly sharp. They neither melted in the water nor froze the seawater.
They simply spun at high speeds due to the force of the currents. The snowflakes, numbering in the tens of thousands, lacerated every single thing they touched.
Anyone being surrounded by Snowkill would end up being cut to tiny pieces.
Saleen used his magic amplifier. Truman used his. It was Truman who was in charge of commanding the battles. Saleen waited in the dark for the great head inquisitor to show.
Saleen did not have any certainty about being able to kill Theisio. With all three godly items in his hand, he became more troublesome to deal with than Saleen.
Theisio did not dive into the water despite Saleen’s ridicule. He thumped the God Grace Staff on the ship and Saleen immediately saw swords zipping into the water in a blinding light.
The swords were constructed purely of holy light, messing up all spells cast from the tower.
Over 10,000 knights rushed into the cemetery’s entrance.
“Idiot.” Saleen definitely had more tricks up his sleeves. The Elemental Stone Statue Soldiers, which had not seen action for quite a while, stood ready with magic cannons in hand inside the tower. 360 magic cannons fired at the same time. Theisio’s divine spells were no longer able to stop them.
Theisio was capable of breaking powerful spells due to those spells having discernible patterns since they had been cast by enchanters. While the magic cannon attacks were slightly weaker, he had no way of breaking them up in one go.
The huge swords of light stirred in the water and deflected half of the cannon shots. The remaining ones punched through the knights’ formations, injuring about 1,000 of them.
The Heaven Knights’ armor was indeed formidable. While the huge magic cannons were imitations, they still possessed incredible power. None of the Heaven Knights were actually killed.
The problem was that Saleen had no concern over the consumption and loss of the cannons. They fired without rest and the second volley was upon the Heaven Knights in no time.
The pope was unable to react in time. While his holy masters were able to cast divine spells, none of their spells were capable of going that deep. He was unable to do anything but watch Saleen kill up to 1,000 Heaven Knights using the magic cannons.
“Theisio, I’ll admit that you are indeed more powerful than I am, but when it comes to deep pockets, you’re no match for me!” Saleen’s prideful voice reverberated in the water. The Heaven Knights were hit by his voice before they knew it.
Theisio was truly angry but he was unable to do anything. He knew that Saleen’s tower was not something he could take out using only the three godly items. As such, he was only able to suppress the mage enough to keep him from coming out of the tower.
The problem, however, was that Saleen had no need to come out. The Magical Element Tower was capable of flight.
“Saleen, get lost!” Theisio’s rage hit a critical point after being provoked by Saleen’s crass words. He uttered something laughable.
“Are you saying that you would dare to enter the cemetery if I moved aside?” Saleen asked.
Theisio was speechless. If he brought his forces into the cemetery and Saleen ganged up on him from behind, he would end up caught in a pincer attack.
“Theisio, I’ve always thought that the Holy See was my greatest enemy. It seems like I have the wrong idea after all,” Saleen said, provoking the pope.
He observed the surface while ridiculing the pope. He’d only managed to kill about 1,000 out of the 10,000 Heaven Knights. Since the magic cannons had been fired twice consecutively, all of them were out of order.
The Heaven Knights’ armor was too powerful. They were able to disperse the attacks, letting every single knight bear a share of the brunt of the attacks. The number and offensive capacities of the cannons were inadequate to overwhelm their defenses. The last two volleys had not ended up doing much.
Armor forged out of the fossilized gods’ fragments was capable of self-repair. It would only take two to three days for all the armor he’d damaged to be thoroughly repaired.
Saleen sent Nailisi to capture the knights using the net. Then she threw them into her collection of purgatories.
Doing it this way was incredibly slow, but Saleen had already placed potent poisons at the entrance. The armor of most of the knights had been damaged and would require some time to be repaired. The poisons were meant for the injured knights.
“Saleen, I shall go to Metatrin City and raze your base once and for all!” Theisio blurted without thinking.
Saleen continued to laugh. “Theisio, if you actually dared to do so, you would have done so a long time ago!”
Theisio snickered coldly and said, “You’re right, I don’t have what it takes to get there right now, and the city’s defenses are of ample might. But I’ve organized my men to have god descend upon your city. I’ll see how long you’re able to keep that smirk on your face!”
“Threats are useless. It’s obvious that as a pope, you’re only saying all this to scare me. Theisio, nothing you said scares me. I’m able to return to Metatrin City at any given moment and bring my most important people out. It’s fine to have the city razed. You Holy See people are good people and you’d protect them in my stead.”
“I’m not saying that to scare you, Saleen. I’ve subjugated two oracles this time and they can get to Metatrin City and begin to summon God. When he is here, you’ll know how laughable your so-called impenetrable fortress is.”
“No problem. I’ll just stay here and round up every single adherent of the Holy See and cut them into pieces for research. I have many death mages serving me. I’d be able to disperse all of their souls and stop them from entering the divine kingdom,” Saleen replied pointedly. He was actually beginning to get somewhat nervous.
Theisio had not brought level-12 oracles with him after all.
“Hmph, you won’t be able to stay smug for long. Metatrin City will soon be history.”
Saleen had already opened the magic array and contacted his teacher before Theisio finished saying all that. He sent his Lightning Cage and Elemental Order back to the city. Both of those items would enable Jason to complete his magic amplifier.
Saleen no longer had any personal need for the Elemental Order. His necklace was already a magic amplifier with the 24 thunder dragons within it serving as weapon spirits. Not only were they able to amplify spells of the six major elements, but they were also able to conjure balls of lightning.
Regardless if the two level-12 oracles in Metatrin City to stir up trouble, Saleen believed that if his teacher were to possess a completed set of magic amplifiers, he would no longer need to fear the advent of any gods.
The god that would descend upon them would not be beyond level-12.
Saleen continued to ridicule Theisio after dealing with those two matters done. “Theisio, how about you just turn on your god? I don’t see the Lord of Glory as some guy worth your time.”
The Seal of Divine Power hanging on Theisio’s neck burst with powerful vibrations above the water before Saleen was able to finish. A blade of holy prose in the shape of a crescent moon penetrated the water and headed straight for the tower.
The crescent-shaped holy prose was not all that quick, yet Saleen smelled the danger nonetheless.
The ball of lightning was incapable of moving quickly, but getting hit by it meant certain death. He summoned the thunder dragons without delay. They conjured a gray ball of lightning and clashed with the blade of holy prose.
A black hole appeared in the water and both the holy prose blade and the gray ball pf lightning disappeared at the same time, leaving an energy hole the size of a fingertip.
The place had long been lacking elements. The black hole collapsed as soon as it was formed, releasing the energy within and shaking the seawater into eerie waves.
Pure energy attacks were converted into pure physical attacks.
All remaining 9,000 Heaven Knights were hit and swept away by the wave. Riders were separated from their horses, their armor cracked and broke, and their weapons were thrown off. Everything under the water was swept clean by the shock. Only the Magical Element Tower remained standing.
