Chapter 1143: Delusion (Part 1)

The temperature of demon blood was lower than human blood. The two types of blood mixed with each other and seeped into the ground, giving it a pungent stench.

Nailisi charged all the way, and casualties from both sides were almost equal.

However, Nailisi felt heartache. The two supreme demons were severely injured and had to be pulled from the battlefield, and the rest of the demons died. It was the first time she fought a battle like that, where the tall, hulking demons were inferior to human opponents. If it was not due to her side having the advantage of numbers, the casualties would be a lot more severe.

Sika felt how frustrating it was to be overpowered because of level difference for the first time as well. While the Magical Element Tower remained impregnable, having the fire dragon coiled around the tower meant that the people inside were unable to attack their enemies.

But then again, it was fortunate that they had enough level nine professionals on their side to keep the level ten sorcerer busy. Eleanor’s arrows were a great threat to the Grand Duke’s men. Archers lacked in defense, but their capacity at offense was on par with mages. If they were equipped with decent equipment, it was easier to enhance an archer’s attacks than a mage’s.

Sika dared not let Eleanor charge outside. That was one mistake they made. If Eleanor was in the air several thousand meters above the ground, their enemies might not have been able to keep up with her.

Grand Duke Jatan looked at the magic array and found the mages had finished building it. Light shimmered from the array, and a small territorial space appeared. The ones in the tower would not make it through the territory to help their own fighting in the canyon.

“Come with me.”

Grand Duke Jatan called his mages and left only the level ten sorcerer to man the magic array. The other warriors followed the Grand Duke.

The Grand Duke took to the air and brandished his own weapon: a blade curved into a half-circle. The blade was over four meters long and looked incredibly awkward.

The Grand Duke stood high above the canyon and laughed. He swung the blade, and the blade’s aura shot towards the mountains at the flanks and killed the demons one by one.

The demons that were hit by the blade’s aura were shredded. Blood splattered everywhere and flowed down the cliffs, staining them blue.

Nailisi was incredibly frustrated, but she dared not take on the Grand Duke. The Grand Duke had a lot of people by his side, the most notable being a level ten true might and a level ten sorcerer. Nailisi was no match for him. She was only able to open the purgatory of the fallen and stand before its entrance, summoning the Shackles of the Fallen.

The Shackles of the Fallen were connected to the altar and were unable to be summoned entirely from the purgatory. The altar’s power was incredible in the purgatory. However, the 24 chains had a limited area of attack when they were used outside the purgatory. Furthermore, the most powerful attack only worked when used against believers.

There were some fallen believers of the goddess in the purgatory, but Nailisi did not mind it anymore. She summoned hundreds of them and had them stand at the entrance of the purgatory, blocking the entrance of the canyon.

The believers were translucent, and their legs looked squishy. They were useful for moving around in the water, but hardly useful on land.

Grand Duke Jatan was curious when he saw a huge demon bring weird creatures and block his way. He slowed down with the slaughter and saw the demon use short sword, which seemed like less than a dagger in relation to her size, to cut off the head of a golden grand swordmaster.

The slash was incredibly quick. The blade held in her hand was never seen in battle, and the golden grand swordmaster was unable to defend against it. His head was cut off by the Sword of Rules.

Grand Duke Jatan was furious as he swung his curved blade downward. Slashes of aura shot at Nailisi. The attacks were unleashed with the power stored within the blade, making it look easy. However, the attacks were deceivingly powerful. Nailisi took control of the chains and used them to deflect the aura attacks. Her Grey Memory continued to take out one warrior after another.

The Grey Memory had a range of over 100 meters, which was a common attack range of mages.

The Shackles of the Fallen were made of materials comparable to godly items. None of the Grand Duke’s attacks was able to tear through the chains and hit Nailisi. Nailisi held four weapons in her four hands: the Grey Memory, the Sword of Rules, a square semi-godly shield, and a flail that Saleen crafted for her. It was a replica of the Winged Skull’s weapon, but was used for close quarters combat. The head was over half a meter in diameter, enabling it to be used like a small shield.

No one in the air was able to do anything to her while she was protected by the Shackles of the Fallen. The chains shot out for tens of meters from the purgatory of the fallen, protecting Nailisi.

The Grand Duke hesitated. What is Saleen doing? And what is the demon is working so hard to protect?

A huge fireball descended from above, but it was the work of the level ten sorcerer at the Grand Duke’s side. Almost every mage knew Fireball, but few used it as their main skill.Visit on our NovelFull

The Fireball spell had three fireballs chained together, each having a diameter of over a meter. Nailisi sensed the incoming danger and lashed out with the Grey Memory. All three fireballs blew up in the air after one powerful thrust. Nailisi took the opportunity to prep the Dragon Crystal Needle in her mouth.

She charged into the flames and headed straight for the sorcerer.

The Grand Duke saw the demon left the protection of the chains and got excited. He charged forward with his blade and brought his blade down from above at Nailisi’s head.

Nailisi had three heads, and from the Grand Duke’s perspective, she would survive with one of the heads cut off, and she would serve as a decent servant.

Nailisi’s shield went up when they clashed. The curved blade made sparks, and Nailisi felt her entire arm go numb. The Grand Duke was not having a good time either. He had used all his strength, but a demon’s strength was inherently greater than a human, but both were level ten and his technique was more refined, which meant that he had an advantage.

However, the shield absorbed most of the impact from the force stored within the curved blade.

Grand Duke Jatan shouted, “take this thing alive. I’m going to make a slave out of it!”

Nailisi’s devil form was tremendously frightening, but it looked more beautiful than any treasure the Grand Duke could think of. It was a demon capable of taking a full-powered hit from him and had high intelligence. When fully subjugated, it would serve as a spokesperson of his clan’s power. The Grants possessed power that seemed to surpass the royal family. If someone like him, a Grand Duke who had lost the support of others, did not have true power to bring to the table, he would be replaced.

Nailisi gritted her teeth and charged again. She wanted to get close enough to kill a level ten professional with the Dragon Crystal Needle. The needle was so sharp that only people armed with godly item-level equipment would be able to resist it. Regardless of how powerful a human’s skill was, there was no way any skill would block the needle.

The level ten mage shot another six fireballs before the level nine ones were able to act. The six fireballs were arranged in a ring as they flew at Nailisi. Their flight was unpredictable, but they were not flying very quickly. However, Nailisi’s Grey Memory was no longer able to lock onto the fireballs.

Only one of the six fireballs was conjured out of pure fire magic. The other five were made through elemental conversion. It was the first time Nailisi had seen a mage who was more adept at elemental conversion than Saleen. The six fireballs came behind Nailisi. She had two more arms on her back, so she quickly turned the shield around and protected her body. The black energy from the shield absorbed all six of the huge fireballs.

Nailisi was unable to feel the arm that was holding the shield, as if it had been burned. The fireballs banged on the shield, throwing Nailisi to the ground. If she had not been protected by the shield, the fireballs would have burned half of her body off as they turned around her.

The shield flew off her hand and the fireballs disappeared. The sorcerer was startled, but he pounced in her direction. She was not his target; he was coming for the shield.

He had to get his hands on the powerful piece of equipment! His judgment was sound in determining that the shield was not meant for warriors, but for casters of spells.

Nailisi was unable to use the shield’s full power. If it had been a mage or a holy master using it, no level ten magic would be able to do anything against the wielder of the shield.

Grand Duke Jatan laughed out loud and went after Nailisi, who was on the ground. He took out a 30-meter-wide net and threw it with one hand, spreading all over Nailisi.

He had captured many magic beasts with that piece of equipment. Even level nine magic beasts would not be able to muster any strength once the net touched them. The power of rules the net surpassed territorial powers.

Nailisi looked at the Grand Duke with frustrated eyes. She sped up and dove into the mass of chains below.

The net unexpectedly dove into the chains with Nailisi, wrapping her up securely. Nailisi was thoroughly frightened as she found her powers dissipated when she was wrapped in the net. The 24 chains retreated into the collection of purgatories after the power controlling them was no longer detected. The portal closed and the thing holding the purgatories dropped to the floor.

There were only around 200 fallen believers who were caught unprepared.

Grand Duke Jatan landed and took the shield. Nailisi was furious, but all of her powers had been bound by the rules of the net, making her incapable of lifting a finger.

The Grand Duke’s curved blade flashed with brilliant light. One swing and the fallen believers around her were swept clean. Their blue blood stained the ground, but they smelled very nice.

Nailisi attempted to change form, but luoluokaluos were not invincible. She remained in her devil form.

The Grand Duke landed when there were no other enemies around him. He put the huge blade away and pulled out a small bottle. The bottle was made of crystal and it was filled with a pink liquid. He walked up to the net. Nailisi’s body felt squishy and she was unable to lift her head up. The Grand Duke looked at Nailisi in the eye. “Submit to me, and I shall conquer the entire mainland with you by my side!”
