After I Fully Prepared for the Apocalypse, the Ungrateful Cried with Regret

Chapter 389: Another Identity

Chapter 389: Chapter 389: Another Identity

After discovering that every car on the train was empty, a man in sunglasses stepped out and began to survey the area.

"Trevor, how are we going to explain this when we get back?"

Another man walked up to Thane Trevor and asked.

"I suspect the person who took the supplies left only a short while ago. And it was most likely just one person."

Thane Trevor’s words made Nina Jacobs, who was hiding in the distance, furrow her brow.

’Did he figure it out from the footprints I didn’t have time to erase?’

She had already used her Earth Element Superpower to erase the footprints leading to the power supply room.

But the traces from her earlier fight with the zombies were still there.

"One person could carry this many supplies?

The base needed seven Space Superpower Users to transport all this."

The man beside him sounded skeptical.

"Anyone who could make it all the way out here is no ordinary person."

Thane Trevor checked the area again carefully.

Unfortunately, the footprints and tracks further on had been intentionally erased.

Beyond that was an asphalt road, which wouldn’t hold any tracks.

"Whoever did this is meticulous,

I suspect it’s a woman."

Thane Trevor said, walking back toward the train.

Just then, a tall woman emerged from one of the cars.

"This isn’t the first time this train has broken down. Something like this was bound to happen eventually.

What worries me is that someone has discovered our supply route."

The tall woman didn’t seem too concerned about the missing supplies.

"It’s not like no one’s found it before. Didn’t we teach that last group of ex-soldiers a lesson and send them running with their tails between their legs?"

A short, stout man who had followed her out scoffed.

"You don’t think it was them again, do you?"

"Impossible. They were poisoned, and they fled into *that* place. There’s no way they made it out alive."

Thane Trevor’s tone was firm. "Split into four groups and search the area. Leonidas, if you sense anyone, we capture them immediately."

"Understood."

Leonidas Lynch was a Spiritual Element Superpower User. He nodded and quickly boarded the train.

"And what if they’re immune to Spiritual Element detection?"

The tall woman asked.

"You think someone out here would have absorbed *that* thing?"

Thane Trevor scoffed, then led his people onto their vehicles, and they split up and drove away.

’Good thing I hid.’

Nina Jacobs stepped out of the power supply room, recalling the few Little Zombie Rats she had hidden under the vehicles.

’That man is not to be underestimated.’

’If I’d just fled, I probably would have run right into them.’

Still, from their conversation, she’d learned something important: the supplies on this train had come from a base.

’If the supplies came from Lornwood Base, then who are these people?’

’And they seem to know about the Mystic Ice Core.’

From her observations of Lornwood over the past few days, no one there seemed to know about the existence of the Mystic Ice Core.

’It looks like these people have a different agenda.’

It was getting late. Remembering the trade she had arranged for the next day, Nina Jacobs decided to wait until they were long gone before heading back.

After waiting for another half an hour, she decided it was safe.

To avoid running into them, Nina Jacobs drove off in the opposite direction.

This route would take her past a small zombie hotspot.

According to the map, it was a vocational college.

Nina Jacobs had planned to just power through in her SUV, but she was surprised to see people fighting zombies there.

After confirming it wasn’t the group from before, Nina Jacobs parked her vehicle a safe distance away to observe.

The group seemed to be trying to break through an encirclement. There were quite a few of them, maybe fifty or more.

But because the fight had been going on for so long, zombies from all around were converging on their position.

They were trapped in a grueling battle.

The group seemed to notice her as well.

A young woman with a grimy face stood atop a derelict bus, waving her arms toward the SUV.

She appeared to be calling for help.

Nina Jacobs activated her Five Senses Enhancement and could hear what they were saying.

"Minerva, forget it! No one is going to stop and help in a situation like this."

A young man pleaded.

"But if we can’t break through, Captain Lucas and the others won’t last much longer!"

Minerva Whitman, still on the bus roof, refused to give up.

"Even a little more help gives us a better chance! We can’t keep hiding in the school."

Another young woman, a Wood Element Superpower User, chimed in.

"Dammit! We kill zombies every day. Do they reproduce or something? Why can’t we ever kill them all?"

A series of high-impact Thunder Balls slammed into the zombies in front of them.

The zombies were instantly ensnared by the crackling electricity, and their teammates took the opportunity to finish them off.

"Watch out!"

A massive Fireball plummeted from the sky as a Fire Element Zombie, wreathed in flames, leaped out from behind a ruined building.

ROAR!

The Fire Element Zombie smashed through a section of their barricade with a Fire Fist, and the horde of zombies behind it surged through the gap.

"Damn it! Fall back, fall back!"

"We can’t! There are zombies behind us, too!"

A Gold Element Superpower User shouted back as he desperately tried to repair the barricade.

But once the zombies started pouring through, the breach only grew wider.

’An Intermediate Fire Element Zombie?’

Nina Jacobs unbuckled her seatbelt and got out of the car.

The Crystal Core from an Intermediate Fire Element Zombie was still a rare find. It would be far more effective for her Heart of Strange Fire than a Basic Level Fire Element Crystal Core.

The group fell back, stunned. They had never encountered such a powerful Fire Element Zombie.

In a matter of moments, one of their companions had nearly been killed.

Peter Keaton had just managed to block a Fireball meant for Florian Abbott with a stone slab, but in doing so, he took a Wind Ball to the head.

The impact left him dizzy and disoriented, his ears ringing so severely he almost passed out.

"Peter! Behind you!"

Minerva Whitman screamed.

It was a child zombie, so short it was easily overlooked in the chaos.

But Peter Keaton was still clutching his head, unable to hear her.

At the critical moment, a uniquely colored Fireball shot toward the child zombie!

CRACK!

The child zombie’s head was blown clean off by the Fireball.

Only then did Minerva Whitman and Peter Keaton notice the figure approaching from the distance.

"Is there really only one person in that vehicle?"

Minerva Whitman murmured to herself.

Nina Jacobs sprinted forward and leaped into the air, her target the Intermediate Fire Element Zombie.

The group, struggling against the Fire Element Zombie, heard an unfamiliar voice from above and behind them:

"This one’s mine."

The woman instantly conjured two Fire Serpents, which flanked the Fire Element Zombie and attacked ferociously!

Under the combined assault of the Fireballs, the Fire Element Zombie was actually forced back several steps.

"What a powerful Fire Element Superpower!"

Finn Sullivan and the others could clearly feel the power radiating from her Fireballs.

"Thanks for the help."

A wave of relief washed over Sierra Lewis.

If this woman hadn’t suddenly appeared, they definitely wouldn’t have survived the Fire Element Zombie’s next attack.

Nina Jacobs didn’t reply, focusing her full attention on the Intermediate Fire Element Zombie before her.

This Fire Element Zombie was strong. Facing Nina Jacobs’s assault, it cloaked itself in fire and unleashed a barrage of countless Fireballs at her!

"Look out!"

The onlookers’ hearts leaped into their throats.

There were too many Fireballs, and they had already locked onto her position. An ordinary person would have no way to dodge!

Yet the woman didn’t panic in the slightest. A curtain of fire rose before her, spread into wings, and then rapidly folded inward, completely consuming the incoming Fireballs!

BOOM!

The curtain of fire transformed into a massive, fiery net, which spread out and descended upon the zombies below!
