"Ahh!" The Fifth stage Sovereign shrieked in horror when he suddenly saw the puppet slashing at him. He did not even have time to process how he appeared there and tried to defend himself. Unfortunately, there was no way he could block the all-out attack of a Peak Sovereign, much less when he was currently in a weakened state.
The man was cut in half by the puppet’s attack, his two parts falling to the ground with a loud thud.
Everyone was taken aback by the sudden change in the situation, even the puppet froze for a while, seemingly trying to process how its target changed at the last second.
The lady was the first to react, turning her head to the place the Fifth stage Sovereign previously stood, she got the greatest scare of her life. Standing around twenty meters away from her was no longer the Fifth stage Sovereign, obviously, rather, it was Grey, the same person who was fighting against the puppet a second ago.
’How’s this possible? How’s this possible?!’
This question was raging in the head of the lady. How did the duo switch places in a second? She did not even sense any spatial fluctuations, so how was it possible for something like that to happen?
The remaining three surviving Fifth stage Sovereigns turned to look at the place where the dead man previously stood, and to their shock, the person standing there was Grey. He had a playful grin on his face as he looked at the fear in their eyes.
Seeing their gazes on him, Grey waved, flashing them a brilliant smile.
The close distance terrified the three Fifth stage Sovereigns and they retreated rapidly.
The lady did not bother to make a move, she knew if Grey truly wanted to kill them now, he would have attacked while they were still distracted from the sudden change.
Unlike the mercenaries who were trying to process what was going on, the puppet did not have such luxury. The second it located Grey, it charged after him once again.
Grey already expected this and retreated further. The fusion orb was still not complete yet.
The puppet chased after him, sending out attack after attack. After almost thirty seconds of constant attacks, the sound of flesh ripping was heard, accompanied by the cry of another man.
A second Fifth stage Sovereign was killed with a single attack from the puppet after Grey forcibly switched positions with him.
With the death of the second Fifth stage Sovereigns, the others suddenly realized what Grey was doing. He was killing them with their own weapon.
"How can you be so cruel at such a young age?! You’re not different from a demon!" The middle-aged man who had attacked Grey first yelled in fear. He could see his death coming, but there was nothing they could do to stop it.
When they retreated just now, they had tried escaping from this place, but were once again sent back after getting past a certain location. Now he understood what Grey meant when he said he did not want a single of them to escape. How could they escape from something they did not even understand how it was happening?
The lady also noticed something when she observed Grey’s hand. For some reason, the speed at which the four colored orb was forming was very slow, too slow even. It was clear that Grey was purposely delaying it, to force the puppet into attacking recklessly and then switching places with her men when they least expected. No wonder after the first man was killed, instead of immediately switching places with the next one, he waited for the puppet to unleash over a hundred attacks before switching places again. This way, it was all but impossible to know when next he would switch places, or who would be next.
’I shouldn’t have waited this long before bringing it out.’
Regret suddenly washed over the lady. She had the puppet with her all along, but due her greed of wanting to gain more benefits, she wanted to use Grey to kill off most of the weaker members of her group, that way, the benefits would only go to a select few, giving them a better chance of growing stronger. She was quite talented during her youth, but the lack of resources limited her growth. This was the reason she became a mercenary in the first place. When the Gnomes invaded, she did not see any hope of humanity coming out victorious, for this reason, she decided to submit to the Gnomes very early.
Joining the Gnomes, she heard about the reward that was being offered for anyone who could capture Grey Dawson, and to be honest, it was not that she did not think of trying it, but after hearing how he was able to deal with those in the Ninth stage while still being a Seventh stage Sovereign, she gave up. It has only been a few years since then, yet that young man was now a Ninth stage Sovereign, who had the record of battling a Peak Sovereign while he was still in the Eighth stage.
Seeing such an opportunity, she thought she could take everything. Who would have thought that her trump card could not even end the young man, rather, he was on the verge of killing them all with it.
’I should’ve brought it out when we just set up the formation.’ It was too late to regret now, Grey was surely not going to let any of them leave this place alive, he had already told them that from the start.

"Help the puppet take him down! Even if we die, let’s make sure he suffers too!" The lady tried to boost the morale of the last two Fifth stage Sovereigns so they could assist the puppet.
The two Fifth stage Sovereigns exchanged glances before gritting their teeth and nodding. It already looks like they were going to die anyway, instead of waiting in panic and fear for death, why not charge valiantly forward?
They felt their blood boil and roared with their last strength, charging straight to the battlefield.
